    Ehhh, that the writer's opinion, WF could be ass or friendly at any given time because of the wind, who to say this year it wont be better. If the Cubs offer a better contract then any other good team, im sure hed consider returning.

    They do and im hoping for Bichette, just saying if they don't get him or the other 3, they could get one of them and another utility guy. Bichette and Tucker are my 1 and 2 choices

    Hey if all else fails and they dont land one of the 4 big bats, they can always get Bader 👀 Or bring back Tauchman.

    I think this could be Hoyers plan A right now as they do need a RFer which would allow them to keep Suzuki as DH and ease Mo into it all, and also allow them to keep him in Iowa and work on his catching. Bichette is probably plan B and maybe they work with Shaw in the OF to give him/them a little more flexibility. I think Bregman looking for at least 30 mil which would be too much for the Cubs if the plan is to stay under the Threshold. I just dont see Bellinger wanting to return unless of course the price is right and like Bregman, I dont see the Cubs offering more than 25 to anyone unless they go over the Threshold.

    Yea i forgot about Wicks and Brown, they're pretty setup with pitching depth now.

    Depends on if theres a budget and what it is. If they sit at around 215 now in payroll and Hoyer needs to stay under the Threshold that leaves them with approx. 28, plus then who knows if and how much he wants to save for that in season moves. So are any of these guys willing to take 20 or less, probably not. Maybe they trade Rea and open up another 5 mil. and they can offer someone up to 25.

    True, and that why having both Rea and Assad in the pen could be very helpful with not only being available to spot start but also eat up innings if they need to pull these starters early. Steele return will allow them to give the rotation an extra day off and the possibility of going to a 6 man. Having a kid like Wiggins waiting in the wing is always a plus. A poster mentioned above about concerns with health for the playoffs, if they get that far and theres no serious setbacks with any of these starters throughout the season, having 9 starters ( Steele Rea Assad Wiggins) on the team will go a long way with keeping them fresh and allow them to skip starts here and there especially in September if they're way ahead in the standings.

    Reminds me of last year, dealing the top prospect for a low cost stud in return, at least they get 3 years of Cabrera over just the one for Tucker, but that cost 2 big prospects over one. Gotta go get a big bat now, otherwise it a big ask for 2 young players in Mo and Shaw to be productive everyday players as the DH and 3Bmen where you'd like to get some big production from. I do like having Assad and Rea in the pen now, that 2 guys who can give them 3+ innings if needed.

    Ok, didn't think about him not being here. Teams should hold off announcing possible trades pending physicals until all parties are present, but we know that wont happen with these writers snooping around.

    Remind me, do physicals and announcing the full trade usually take this long? You'd think these writers who know everyone teams are supposedly linked to would know what going on here and have something to share.

    Jesse Rogers: The Cubs have a new pitcher.....lefty Ryan Rolison was claimed off waivers from the White Sox . That what taking so long, theyre flipping him to the Marlins 😅😅😅😅

    You're forgetting Taillon... Getting Cabrera could make it interesting later in season, if all stays healthy they will have options to move SP for a bat if needed at deadline.

    Always wondered what they do in these physicals to determine whether a players previous injury wont be a factor in upcoming season and green light a trade for promising top prospect(s) in return.

    Being able to move Shaw to the bench as a super utility guy could be a really good upgrade for them.

    If Jesse Rogers is correct, he said no pitching prospects are going in return and it likely for hitting prospects.

    Yea but you can find guys to be a DH... I like Mo and wouldn't be upset if he stays and someone else goes, I just think of those 3, Mo Shaw and Caissie, Mo as if now would make more sense.

    My guess would be Mo, he doesn't really have a fit on the Cubs. I doubt it Shaw, they wouldn't trade him without securing a replacement first, and Caissie would only make them need another OFer unless they plan on going with Suzuki in RF all year and Mo as DH. If there no pitchers involved in the return, I can see it being Mo who showed he can hit at major league level and a couple lower level position players.

    I never said a roster doesn't need inexpensive good players or homegrown. my point was just that you cant just keep relying on just a roster full of good players and young players year after year and hoping you get above average play from some so you can be competitive. To stay competitive every year and open a big window, you need to mix in that big bat and or big SP, those guys can carry a team through long stresses. Do they win 90+ games without Tucker, i doubt it, and i doubt they win 90+ this season without Tucker or another big bat in the lineup like him. Im not saying they need to spend like the Dodgers or Mets and have a team full of 25+ per year players, but they do need to start being more aggressive with trades or FA when it comes to adding a stud player or two and not just keep relying on a roster of players you hope to get great value from to be competitive for that season. Hopefully next offseason if they dont do it this one, Ricketts will allow Jed to not just spend more but attach some long-term deals to the star players so they stay. EDIT: after sending this i just read about Cabrera, that a start, now get that bat, likely be Bichette. Awesome
