Dillon Maples has faced 13 batters, walked 5, struck out 6, and allowed two ground balls. Unhittable gets thrown around far too much, but Maples kind of is. I honestly don't know what the best role is for a guy like him. He's probably 2-3x more likely than a typical reliever to have a disaster outing, but at the same time he's the only guy we have who can do what we just saw (at least until Carl rights the ship). Do you you always warm him up with a buddy, so if he walks the first two guys you can go and pull him right away? Do you use him in crazy high leverage situations, where you're probably already horsefeathered but you want to maximize your chance of escaping unscathed? Or do you use him in situations when you're losing close late; where you want to hold the team where it is but realistically there's not much difference between giving up one run and giving up five?
