  1. [tweet] [/tweet]That's quite the unfortunate mistake
  2. Apparently Luke Farrell got DFA'd on the Cubs website yet no announcement was made from the team
  3. This is the worst team in the Maddon era. The starting pitching isn't good at all and only Lester can get through 6 innings. The bullpen has been great but they'll be broken by August with how bad the SP has been at going deep into games. The offense is inconsistent as hell and full of underachieving players that can't hit for power.
  4. How is this Maddon's fault? I'm intrigued by you. You hate everything about the Cubs except for Maddon. I'm fine with Maddon, so that's cool. But I'm still intrigued by you about this, and how you were pissed the Bulls lost a game the night the Cubs won the World Series. I just don't get where you're finding a manager better than Maddon? Joe Girardi? Like if you hate Maddon, you're gonna hate Girardi too.
  5. Unless the Cubs are clear World Series favorites like in 2016, trading players for a rental you can just sign in the offseason is incredibly dumb. Machado makes little difference in a playoff series, and even less of a difference in a one game fluke which they're currently in. I was joking. You might be joking but a lot of Cubs fans are going to be upset when they don't end up trading for Machado

  7. In 2015, the Cubs went 3-3 against the White Sox (76 wins), 1-3 against Detroit (74 wins), 3-3 against Miami (71 wins), 2-5 against Philly (63 wins) and 3-3 against San Diego (74 wins). The 2015 Cubs won 97 games that year. In 2016, the Cubs went 3-3 against Atlanta (68 wins), 2-2 against the White Sox (78 wins) and 2-4 against Colorado (75 wins). The 2016 Cubs won 103 games. In 2017, the Cubs went 2-4 against San Diego (71 wins). The 2017 Cubs won 92 games. None of these are bad division teams that the entire division gets to beat up on 15 times a year. There’s a chance beating the Reds the most can be the difference in winning the division
  8. Quintana let 2 baserunners on to start the inning and has to go longer than 5 innings. Ideally he does but he was clearly gassed. Once he hit 75ish pitches the velo and command went. Guessing the heat didn’t help. He hasn't all year though. He sucks the 3rd time through the order and nibbles up a ton of pitches to the point where he can never go 6. That's not the type of dude you trade an Eloy for. And this game clearly isn't on Quintana, just saying in general.
  9. Yeah I hear ya. Offense didn’t show but doesn’t help that we only used Bass, Duensing and Farrell in the pen and all 4 runs came with them in the game Quintana let 2 baserunners on to start the inning and has to go longer than 5 innings.
  10. I generally think it's small sample size. He obviously has a good arm which helps but I'm not sure he's had many tough plays out there. Also probably good positioning helps.
  11. Pretty sure Rizzo did make an attempt, didn't matter because he was safe at 1st though The threshold for an attempt is a lot higher than what Rizzo did. Under no interpretation was he trying to go to 2nd base, runners have a lot of leeway on this. Matt Kemp had a play earlier this year where he made a slight movement to 2nd and got tagged out to end the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeyP_6r41LE

  14. There’s just not a big enough sample to say much about their prep OF record. So far they’ve drafted 3 HS OFs in the top 10 rounds (Almora, Wilson, Velázquez). They just don’t go the risky prep route frequently so it’s definitely interesting, I’d even agree with puzzling like you said. The pitching question marks are far more fleshed out and legitimate, in my eyes. That said, the Richan pick fits the MO of this team’s college pitcher picks. FYI, Roederer is a big loss for UCLA. He was expected to be the only freshman starter on an Omaha contender and possibly the best offense in school history. They viewed him as a first rounder in 2021. I think Roederer is the pick I like the most. A guy that’s been injured and might have gone higher if he were healthy. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Cubs saw something when he was healthy.
  15. I mean, Theo, Jed, & McLeod have hit on the top picks for sure but their overall drafts have been mediocre at best which is really disappointing given what the Red Sox used to do. Of course, the system has changed since then and the money matters way less now.
  16. I mean, it’s not as straight-forward but evaluating the mlb draft isn’t rocket science. You look at what number the pick is, then look at the pre-draft rankings, then you measure those against any standard list of numbers. I mean, I trust MLB front offices over the mock drafts
  17. My God, what? Did they do a favor to Kris Bryant or something on this pick?
  18. Yikes. This will be their best draft ever though I'm sure.
