    Thus far this draft has Wilken trying to be the smartest guy in the room written all over it. I did so much cringing those days with Hendry and Wilken. The MLB Network guys had no clue who Hayden Simpson was, that was probably the worst I've ever felt about the state of the Cubs. There's no doubt this organization deserves the benefit of the doubt but I'm not a fan so far

    I mean it makes sense. People are complaining about pulling Montgomery early but they tried to pinch hit and grab a lead and Montgomery isn't stretched out to go much more than 80 pitches right now. In the end, it worked out and now they have a nearly full bullpen tomorrow.

    Also, because it pains me to watch Ian play CF, I'd like to just insert Albert into the lineup for 155 games or until he breaks even if he isn't hitting that well. He'll hit the wall eventually, .380 BABIP won't last and they've been using him in very good spots. They can let him go for now though.

    What managers are better? Just think about it, doubt you can name 4. It's because managers are pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Who cares? They're irrelevant. You literally just said that. Hinch, Kapler, Melvin and Francona are all head and shoulders better. A manager that's managed for less than 2 months and Bob Melvin? Okay lmao. And Maddon beat Francona in the World Series showing how little they matter.

    Managers matter very little in baseball anyways but Maddon is clearly top 5. He's not bringing in players like Heyward, Chatwood, Darvish, etc that can't perform.     Can guarantee you any manager they hire is a downgrade from Maddon. Start blaming the players and the people bringing in the players. "Don't side with management" is a pretty good mantra in most walks of life, but it's especially prudent when you're some kind of dolt who, again, thinks everything about a baseball team needs to be replaced EXCEPT the manager. That you try to pass off the idea of building a team around a manager, like that makes ANY horsefeathering sense just proves, yet again, that your dumb bit horsefeathering sucks.     Joe has been a trainwreck this year. I would very much be fine if Maddon finishes his contract with the Cubs next year and then they move on to someone else. Getting rid of a top 5 manager, that'll fix things!

    last season taught me not to expect it to be easy, but i didn't think it would be like this. it could/should change in an instant, but i'm past the point of expecting it to. it's just not worth it to be invested in the team right now. every day should be the day the brewers fall off and the cubs take off, and it just won't happen. it's still early, but its not THAT early. I mean, this literally just happened last year, almost to the letter. Last year the Cubs were 5.5 games out of first and 2 games under .500 at the all star break. They won the division by 6 games and the last week of the season was functionally meaningless. Be as mad or disappointed as you want, but it's real hard to feel like they're remotely in uncharted waters. And then they were tired in the NLCS. And Maddon, Theo, Jed etc went on the radio this Spring Training and said the goal was to get off to a better start this year to avoid that.

    Sounds terrible, just let Montgomery start You won't be happy with Montgomery either, though, true? Rather see Montgomery than Chatwood. Same with Eddie Butler wherever the hell he is. Alzolay needs way more time at AAA.

    I'm not letting the 1985 Bears go either, 33 years later and look where they are I suppose you can start feeling frisky again in three decades if you want. But don't say for one second that before 2016 that you wouldn't have given up the rest of your Cubs fan career to see it happen just once. Maybe you would have, but my quota has been filled. I want to see another one, sure, but you still have to appreciate the one we just got less than two years ago. Never forget. I'd rather see them win again when they're in a championship window, otherwise it might be a 33+ year drought like the Bears with no titles in sight. One championship in 109 years just isn't good enough, sorry.

    It's time to let 2016 go, it was great and happened and last year was fine with the World Series hangover excuse but what's the excuse now? The fact that you think a 92 wins is something that requires an excuse is proof that you're either trolling or outrageously entitled. They weren't a good team last year. They built a huge hole and spent the entire 2nd half digging themselves out of it and benefitted from playing in probably the 2nd worst division in baseball. And then when they got to the NLCS, they were gassed and admitted it. This year they were supposed to come out hot and avoid all this, instead it's the same exact team. Quite frankly, I don't think the players have let 2016 go yet and that's a problem.
