  1. That reminds me. I need to go down for an Indians game. I haven't been checking out the minors much this year so is there any really good prospects in that International League?
  2. It seems like this convo about players/USGA happens every 3-4 years. Anyone remember Chambers Bay? How long and brutal/shitty conditions it was in? Every player complained about that course afterwards. Hell, I remember some US Opens where +5 was the winning score. Put me in the camp that having everyone struggle to make par is not fun to watch. It's cool to see a Rory, Speith, DJ, etc throw up a mid/high 70s from time to time to let us know these pros can have bad days on a tough course. But when everyone does that and seeing great shots being "penalized", it's cringeworthy to me.
  3. Is it the same Anthony Bass who pitched for Padres a few years back?
  4. First comp that came to mind to me for Hoerner was Michael Young.
  5. You should watch video of his curveball. It's crazy impressive. Best curveball and breaking ball in the draft by far. I'm sure I can find a gif somewhere... [tweet] [/tweet] Yeah I knew his curve is filthy, but didn't knew the spin rate was THAT high.
  6. Didn’t seem as prominent though I wasn’t AS big into the NBA until LeBron joined the heat Because Kobe wasn’t so clearly better than Jordan And I don't care what anybody says, Shaq was the reason they won those 3 titles. Even though Kobe did play great against 76ers and Nets.
  7. I got into a debate with one of my friends this past weekend about the best and most complete "athlete" and how we can even compare from one sport to another. That ended up us debating on who's better relative to their league... Trout or LeBron?
  8. BR has pages for those stats... https://www.basketball-reference.com/about/ws.html https://www.basketball-reference.com/about/bpm.html https://www.basketball-reference.com/about/per.html
  9. Here's another thing I don't get. Why isn't LeBron on the block on that FT? I get it if in case of a fast transition to maybe win, but 4.7 secs left and iirc Warriors had a timeout left.
  10. That's an understatement and he had an easy put back too. Lol
  11. Hard to say really. It's the site I go to cuz it has everything. I'm not sure where else to go for advanced metrics? Is there a NBA fangraphs website out there yet? There's landofbasketball.com, but I haven't check it out enough yet. I don't think they have figured out the advanced metrics yet as it's still "new" compared to MLB, but It's not complete bunk either. I like PER, WS/48, and BPM when I'm comparing players. It's more rates based for comparsion, but NBA is more suited for that than MLB imo because how do you compare a guy who plays 82 games/37 mins a game (Lebron) and a guy who play 51 games/32 mins (Curry) or 63/30 (Embiid) as an example? WS/VORP is fine if you're just looking at career total as a quick glance type of thing. I think people will rank Wade ahead of Pippen as time goes on.
  12. What are you looking at? I'm looking at those three and it looks like Pippen is the worst of the three. Love is better when you look at per minute rates. Love missed quite a bit of games in his career already. Pippen has better total # cuz he played more games. Wade is easily better than those 2.
  13. I can't get past his ear.
  14. He's in the same convo as Trout/Harper IMO. Then again... it's a short list of teenage prospects who raked in AA or higher. Who else would there be in the 21st century? Miguel Cabrera. He was 20 in AA when he broke out and his age 17-19 seasons weren't all that spectacular. At least compared to the 3 mentioned above. I keep forgetting that Miggy is only 1 year older than me so he was in the 21st century. I was thinking he was like 38.

  16. My favorite is from 0:08-0:14. It looked like he was going to slide all the way to the backstop.
  17. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=pit&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2018&month=0&season1=1871&ind=1&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=11,d
  18. Wait till you break 80.
  19. Some possibilities... Will Hernandez Josh Jackson Harold Landry Isaiah Oliver Courtland Sutton All would make sense for need and/or value. Bears are up 7- if those 5 were all gone, I'd be okay with a trade down for sure. Kirk is still there too. I wonder if Pace will trade 1 of the 4th along with the 2nd to move up like 3-4 spots to make sure he gets his guy. Not a bad idea really.
  20. if he has symptoms, then he has to have a concussion, right? is there such thing as a borderline concussion? how do heads work? I think it's more the case of they're making sure there's no symptoms developing as it can pop up days after the fact. I know after like 2-3 days, if there isn't any symptoms, then the chance of him having a concussion drops big time and he'll be good to go.
