  1. Willis, Bowman, Lavonte David, Freeman, Shazier, Briggs to name a few that are very similar size wise to Smith. Not sure why people crap on "small" LB briggs was in the 240s, this guy played in 220s, they aren't in same ballpark. Briggs weighed 242 and Smith 236 at combine. I know it's different than when they played in college, but I'll be shocked if Smith weigh less than 235 in the NFL. Smith ran a 4.5 at 236 so he can still keep that weight and be that sideline to sideline LB.
  2. Same height as Ray Lewis and only 10 pounds lighter on draft day. Willis, Bowman, Lavonte David, Freeman, Shazier, Briggs to name a few that are very similar size wise to Smith. Not sure why people crap on "small" LB
  3. So Smith's upside is Lavonte David/healthy Shazier?
  4. I like Sexton and Miles Bridges more than Carter and Young. Ayton Bagley, Doncic Porter, Jackson Bamba, Mikal, Miles, Sexton Carter, Young I can be swayed into Sexton over Young. I think he's going to be a solid NBA starter. Ceiling versus floor argument there is an interesting one. Honestly though, I wouldn't take Miles Bridges inside the top 12. To me, he's a tweener. I don't see him being a starter in the NBA. I keep seeing this (here, other articles, friends, etc.) and they said the same thing about Draymond Green. He got a "tweener" size, but he got a well rounded game that plays on both ends of the court. Not saying Miles will be Green 2.0. Miles reminds me of a young Andre Iguodala with a better shooting stroke.
  5. That was a super awkward looking run around the bases. Still look the same since high school to me.
  6. Here's my question to you. Would you draft Nelson if he could have the same trajectory as David DeCastro, but at LG? 2 1st team All Pro, 1 2nd team, and 3 straight Pro Bowls in his first 6 years. I think a lot of people are expecting that he will be as good as DeCastro, if not better. We'll see if that's true or not in a couple years. I believe he will be so I think he's worth picking in the top 10.
  7. I get that it's annoying that they are messing up their draft position, but "tanking" is always a front office strategy, never a player strategy. The players are never going to lose on purpose. why is this at all worth saying? Because it's Derwood? :dontknow:
  8. Bumping this up to see if anyone wants to take Team B. The draft will be next Monday or Tuesday night.
  9. So you know A Rod top 5 WAR: 10, 9.6, 9.5, 9.2, 9.2 Trout: 10.5, 10.3, 9.2, 8.9, 7.9 (only has 6 full seasons so far)
  10. Man. This thread is great. It might get to the point where we go back to this thread in the future like Da Bum threads.
  11. Weird. I saw it somewhere that his service time for 2018 season is 6.070. Must've read it wrong or something. That's his service time heading into the season, i.e. right now. That would have been enough to qualify for free agency this offseason. Ahh.. gotcha. I did interpret it wrong then. Thanks.
  12. Yeah, he'll be 29. Imagine if he didn't do that extension. He would be a FA with Harper next offseason. No, he would've been a free agent this offseason and not next. Weird. I saw it somewhere that his service time for 2018 season is 6.070. Must've read it wrong or something.
  13. Yeah, he'll be 29. Imagine if he didn't do that extension. He would be a FA with Harper next offseason.
  14. I wonder if it has something to do his concussions problem and Bears want to help him out medical-wise? Maybe they're trying to still pay him while he doesn't play again and not retire until contract is up? Kinda like what baseball do with their injury insurance thing, I know Albert Belle for example still got paid a portion of his contract while he basically retired due to his hip.
  15. I was reading an article in Golf Digest (if you buy anything from Global Golf you get a free subscription) about what people thought of Tiger's chances of winning the Masters. A lot of people were saying that they couldn't see it since he'd have to play great and other talented people would all have to not play as well. It occurred to me that this is true but it's also true of whoever wins. To win the Masters, Tiger will have to be able to hit his driver more accurately. He shouldn’t use his drive much, if at all, at Augusta. He should using his 3-wood or 2-iron off the tee nearly every hole. First thought was that Augusta is a lot longer course than Copperhead, but I looked it up and it's only ~100 yards difference. He should stick with the same gameplan and leave the driver home. Crazy to think that a player can do that on a course that's ~7400 yards long.
  16. 2-0 in the world series! Personally swatting down whatever that little thing was that the Pirates had going on for a couple of years.
  17. Does it matter for us? I was under the impression he just had to sign to max out our compensation. Yeah he just has to sign for the Cubs to get a pick. Doesn't matter what the amount is.
  18. A buddy of mine who is a Packers fan sent me this.
  19. EDIT: I was wrong that you can't do it back to back years. It's if you never had it before in your career.
  20. That’s a rule? I just thought the only way we don’t get a pick is if he signs after the draft? I found it. So it doesn't matter for the Cubs just as long as Arrieta signs somewhere. I was thinking of the first paragraph, but the Cubs isn't in that group.
  21. I see Minkah Fitzpatrick at 4 for Browns.
  22. So it's probably looking like Cubs won't get a pick from Arrieta when he signs? He has sign for 50+ mil in order for the Cubs to get the pick right? I'm not sure he's going to hit that.
  23. looked great. would be awesome if hickey could help him figure something out maybe. I'm hoping he'll be Marmol 2.0. I'll be cool with that if he can't figure it out.
  24. Hey guys... I have 2 spots open up in my 8 team keeper league on Yahoo. One team I had to keep get new owner every year (show up for draft and then quit) and another was always 2nd to last or last every year so I'm looking to fill these 2 spots. Just curious to see if anyone wants to join. You're able to keep either 4 or 5 keepers and the draft is snake with last to first place determine the order. Once the teams are finalized, I usually wait til the end before having the draft (26th/27th this year for example). The league has some tweaks like more position/bench, but it's is pretty standard. If anybody does want to play, I'll list some guys on each team who could be possible keepers. It'll be first come, first serve. You can see the whole team once I invite you and got until the night before the draft to give me your keepers. Team A: Kris Bryant McCutchen Contreras Addison Russell Carrasco Quintana Stroman Team B: AJ Pollock Andrus Braun Story Kyle Seager Jake Lamb Scherzer Bumgarner Hendricks
