  1. Never gets old. He was just copying Kelly Leak. Bill Madlock did it against the Cubs as well - not a home run though.
  2. If he were inserted into the Cubs lineup today - which Cubs OF would Manny not out produce?
  3. What's the latest in the season a team started an OF with a combined 0 homeruns? Or have the Cubs done it already this year?
  4. Drop Bruce Add Tulowitzki Thanks
  5. Drop Trumbo Add Bruce Thnx
  6. Just because you are patient doen't mean you are a good hitter. It gives you a better chance a being a good hitter. Mark Bellhorn was patient but couldn't hit. Vlad Guerrero wasn't patient but was a good hitter.
  7. Just ensuring your meteoric rise by the end of the season will be given its proper due. :-"
  8. NICE! Lets call her a season boys. Mail me my check. Engrave my trophy. Field Hockey starts in Patagonia next week - lets change it up!
  9. Bonny is batting 1.000 with a SB. What is there not to like? T. Rhodes says "Yo" ...and Hinske was always kind of tubby wasn't he?
  10. Group A: Miguel Cabrera Group B: Jose Bautista, Mark Trumbo Group C: Giancarlo Stanton, Carlos Beltran, Joey Votto Group D: Matt Adams, Albert Pujols, Justin Morneau, Will Myers, Yasiel Puig PM''d Wild Card
  11. Is the J Adduci on the Rangers former Cub Jim Adduci?
  12. In desperation for anything BB related anyone have any opinions? There are 15 teams. I blew up my team a bit at the trading deadline last year - had no idea I had Wacha. I leaning towards the highlighted players - but originally wanted to keep Street to lock in some saves but that's when I noticed that I somehow had Wacha. I've contemplated trying to trade either him or Miller? Possibly Lawrie as well - being in Toronto I think I'd get good value for him - but worried about missing his breakout. Thought about sacrificing this year to get Bryant and Baez. 13. Moving out of the Florida State League? Not sure that'd be seismic - but not sure what would be.
  14. I honestly think that's often the case. Spending some (professional) time in hair and makeup can do wonders for just about anybody. In my first year at University I lived on the same floor as a girl who was in the top 6 in the finals for Miss Canada - she certainly wasn't unattractive but there were 3 or 4 girls on the same floor I would say were better looking. She looked great on TV though. We also had a professional model (never became famous as far as I know - but she made some money) and to see her walking around campus - granted often in sweats - I never would have guessed she was a model. Since then I've always assumed that a great deal of the "glamour" of the famous was in the packaging. An interesting aside - the Miss Canada candidate says that at some point in the competition they needed to declare if they actually wanted to win - if they didn't want to win (had to do with burden and responsibility of holding the title - basically you are a drone for a year) - the highest you could go was the round of 6 and then behind the scenes you would be taken out of the running.
  15. Sinbad? Now it's a party! I was going to add an "LOL" after his name. What's even more telling is that he was in the audience at the show, in the row in front of us - but we were up in the bleachers - not on the floor or anywhere near the stage. I remember my buddy saying "Shouldn't he be back stage or something?"
  16. Won tickets to Saturday Night Live and the after party in some bar down by the water - had to sneak into the VIP room - so my buddy and I kept to ourselves most of the night to avoid being booted. BUT Cameron Diaz was the host and the Smashing Pumpkins were the musical guests ( I think this was '98). The Pumpkins played a bunch of songs and Diaz and the Pumpkins chick (who was pretty cute in her own right - not the Asian one who turns out is a guy) got really drunk and seemed awfully chummy and she later left when the band left - I still try not to let my imagination dwell on what may have happened later. I can't recall who was in the cast then (don't think it was a high point for the show) - I remember Chris Kattan being there - So maybe Will Ferrell was there - but honestly don't remember. I remember the cast all seemed to split up once they arrived and sit at their own tables around the bar; each with their own little entourage. Bunch of other celebrities showed up: Jerry Seinfeld, Dan Akroyd, John Goodman, Claire Danes, Sinbad - I'm sure there were some others. 3 Yankees were there - David Wells, Tino Martinez and ???. I remember Wells and Goodman trying to hit on Diaz at various times with absolutely no success. Most them them got drunk and acted like idiots - that was my big take away - that these guys all get drunk and act like fools just like the rest of us. Seinfeld and Akroyd spoke for a long time together at a table in the corner. Diaz was all high energy bouncing around and dancing with the band. The Yakees were gawking almost as much as we were - especially at Diaz. It was good front row seat. I had gone up to Lorne Michaels to thank him for donating the prize I had won - but he wanted nothing to do with me and I'm sure I saw a little red dot flicker across my chest until he was a safe distance away. That was my big brush with anyone famous. I did play Tennis with Mark Knowles (#1 Doubles player for awhile with Daniel Nestor) when I was a kid. He'd wipe the court with me on a regular basis but he always had a really bad temper even as a 10 year old - so it was always entertaining. My Dad played tennis with Sean Connery once and my sister was at Boletari in Florida at the same time Andre Agassi was there.
  17. Read in a link to one of the NY papers the other day that the Mets are looking for a SS...really want Baez...realize thats not happening, but the writer suggested Castro should be the target...suggesting Wright would be a positive influence and that trying to get Lake at the same time would be smart.
  18. hmmm.... 2B Alcantara 3B Baez OF Bryant or 2B Baez 3B Olt OF Bryant or 2B Baez 3B Bryant OF FA If this is the everything is roses scenario, I don't think Alcantara can outproduce a completely fixed Olt. And I don't have confidence that Alcantara can outproduce even a moderate priced OF option like a Schierholtz/Sweeney & Lake platoon. Then again, the ideal scenario probably has Alcantara and Vogelbach included in a trade for: 2B Baez 3B Bryant RF Stanton My all SS/3b team is coming together nicely!
  19. It occured to me last night seeing the highlights of Lakes HR that that its not entirerly inconceivable (...these players are at least all in the Cubs organization) that in a few years the Cubs starting 8 could all (originally) be SS or 3B. Maybe Christian Villanueva can convert to catcher! Maybe too RHed though! 1B Vitters 2B Castro SS Baez 3B Olt LF Lake CF Alcantara RF Bryant
  20. Bravo bhogg! Most of the posters here have no clue who those guys were but you forgot a couple more busts.. Eric Duncan and David Parrish should slot right between Taylor and Kevin "no" Maas. I still want D'Angelo Jimenez and Jackson Melian. Heard that Hensley Muelens was untouchable but maybe Theo can work some magic.
  21. Who shifted the rock that Kevin Gregg was under? Where'd he come from?
  22. Eric Chavez as a platoon/fill in guy/insurance/back up?
  23. In unversity, a month after Mcdonalds had run its annual Mcrib promotion, the main caff would suddenly have its own "rib o' pork on a bun" specail that would last a week or so. True story.
  24. Thaks Truff. It jumped to 16 by draft day and there was definately some bottom scraping in the last couple of rounds. I did manage to get Strasburg and Montero in the middle rounds. I lost out on Castro and in a fit of spite took Brett Lawrie to piss of the locals. I'm hoping for some decent comebacks from Mauer and Carl Crawford, both of whom went fairly late. Thanks again.
  25. you keep 8 players. no points cap that I can see and no forfeiting of players next year. Thanks
