  1. Making sculptures of Taylor out of butter is not an artform that can be rushed.
  2. I think it is harder to find offense than defense. Most offensive players flame out because they can't hit. How many good offensive players don't make it because they can't field? Has there been one? There's a bit of buffer because of the DH but if you can hit you'll find a place to play. I think there are many good defensive players that never make the majors because they can't hit. I don't thinks its a case of offense/defense being created equal or not. It's harder to find offense.
  3. Service time is an exact calculation based on time spent on an active roster. In 3 of his seasons he appeared in 2 games - he does not have 12 years official service time. He has referred to this fact several times on air. However feel free to believe he has 12 years.
  4. Parts of 12 years. Not the same as service time.
  5. JD never got to 10 Years service time - which is significant for pension calculation - probably why he's announcing. I'm sure Boog has asked him at least 3 times about it. "You don't have 10 years service time???" He's a little salty on the subject.
  6. They already had a 4+ RF and they didn't trade for Tucker hoping for a 4.5 win season.
  7. Nobody is fetishizing - at least I'm not - having Smith as a trade chip could help make the Cubs better now not in the future and it's not a meritless argument that they ultimately weren't any better off with Tucker.
  8. It's not really as simple as that - they traded for a guy they were probably never going to sign. How much worse would they have made out with Bellinger instead and the main point is they would still have Smith as trade chip now.
  9. I mean putting you're best hitter 8th is a bad idea so it matters a little bit. If you have 9 all-star hitters it doesn't matter if you only have 2 good hitters it's going to matter more. PCA batting leading is just throwing horsefeathers at wall and seeing if something kickstarts something - hoping to catch lightning in a bottle.
  10. If laces don't count in tagging a runner then they shouldn't count in catcher's interference, no?
  11. Has he ever challenged a call? They may have had "The Talk" with him.
  12. I don't like the TV angles in this park. The Rangers line-up seems like its a bunch of cast-offs from other teams.
