He looks like he has lost 60lbs - hadn't noticed that previously. On Schwarber - some analyst was on the Radio here in Toronto and said he strongly believed the Cubs would NOT be able to resign Tucker and would pivot and sign Schwarber . FWIW
That's not too surprising as Santana has pretty much been a starter and has 3 times as many plate appearances. It's also much closer with fWar. I think he's just going to be used as a RH hitter mostly
Not really sure that is a BETTER question. As you say if they Win the World Series then it was absolutely worth it - if they fail to make the playoffs and he signs else where then its very bad. It's likely to be somewhere in between. If they do extend then it's probably worth it regardless of the current years outcome. I think that's been the case since the trade was made. Maybe a better/more provocative question is would Cubs have been a better team?
This is absolutely neither here nor there but do you think if the front office were aware of the offensive step forwards that PCA, Suzuki and Busch seem to have taken to this point they still would have made the trade for Tucker?
I think the angle would be he pitches well when he has a chip on his shoulder so maybe the release invigorates him and you catch lightning in a bottle?? Don't really know what his status is or the cost of picking him up though. how desperate are the Cubs?
Absolutely devastated. 1984 was the first full season that I followed the Cubs and I still remember losing my mind during "The Sandberg Game". My mother had no interest in baseball until she saw Sandberg play. He was such a rock and influence during my formative years. Noone could pound that high inside fastball like Ryno. Godspeed Ryno.
