  1. wow, i knew fuku had been struggling, but i didn't realize how far his numbers have fallen. i'm gonna hold off for now because he was due for a slump, but f this goes on much longer he's going to start coming close to last year's overall numbers.
  2. he'll probably make some bs excuse like when he tried to justify the deroa trade a few weeks ago hendry probably pretends that the aramis injury is the only reason we suck, when really his awful moves would have had this team sucking even if aramis never got hurt but at least we're more left handed for the playoffs we'll never sniff
  3. i like how you call him "last year's rookie of the year" to imply that he's good, when really he sucks
  4. to all of those people who laughed at me when i said fukudome wasnt as good as pujols.... who is laughing now?!?!? this guy is nothing more than a .900 OPS center fielder. good luck winning with that.
  5. yeah i don't understand why anybody would want to trade lilly either. the idea is to get rid of bad contracts, not good ones. lilly has been great since he joined the cubs and has another year left after this.
  6. no but seriously, this is actually good news... at least in terms of this season. if the brewers or cards had gotten him they'd be looking pretty tough
  7. i think teams would be willing to take on lilly's contract in a heartbeat
  8. i almost wouldn't hate trading harden if hendry actually got something decent for him.
  9. suck it, kevin towers
  10. good to see tt heating back up these last 5 games after going through a pretty brutal slump and a walk for vitters tonight
  11. cyno just killed himself
  12. detroit fans drowning out the trophy celebrations with boos...... real nice
  13. he's seriously going to kill himself tonight
  14. damn, that was a softy it's on now
  15. The player they get doesn't have to match Hendry's salary. Given the state of the Trib and also of the Cubs team, I wouldn't be surprised if Hendry was encouraged to drop some payroll if at all possible. I can't really think of many more players that have both value and a tradable contract on the Cubs. you still haven't answered the question. where are we going to put a bat? 2B is the only place we can really upgrade, and like i said, i don't see any potentially avilable 2B that would be worth giving up our best starting pitcher (this season) for. people keep talking aobut wanting to get a bat, but they never say where he's going to play. we're locked in at every position but second base, shortstop, and catcher..... and we're not going to find upgrades at shortstop or catcher. Second base, third base, right field. It doesn't have to be a guaranteed starter. If you can find a player who can play 3B until Rammy is back and RF when Bradley is hurt, needs days off, or is ineffective, that's a player to look for. Also any player to avoid Miles or Freel to be in the lineup, or Font vs. Lefties is fine by me. I more than realize your point is that the Cubs are paying superstar money to fill every position but 2b, 3b and C. We need to give the offense a boost wherever we can get it. Taking Miles, Freel or Font vs. LHP and replacing with someone even mediocre to the team. Anything to avoid Fontenot, Hill, Miles and Blanco being the mainstays at 6-8 in the lineup everyday. Will it solve all of our offensive problems? No. Bottom line our big money hitters need to improve in order for this season to have any meaning. But that doesn't mean there aren't still other areas where we can approve. trading our best pitcher for a hitter who isn't even a a guaranteed starter would be dumb and would make the team worse
  16. oh no, a young nba player got busted putting up gang signs in a picture taken at a party! this isn't even news worthy. give me a break

  18. what position is that bat going to play?
  19. like i said, where are you going to put a hitter that makes that much? you can only puth im at 2b, and i can't think of any potentially avilable second baseman that are worth trading lilly for it would be just like hendry to dump salary with one of the players who actually has a good contract though
  20. i don't doubt that uzr says that
  21. and relievers Not really. The bullpen has been very good lately. The Cubs need bats. the bullpen still is a big concern, especially considering we're now relying on guzman staying healthy and marmol has been a mess but like i said, where are we going to upgrade? the only position we could upgrade permanently is second base. even if we did upgrade, the best we'd probably be able to get is a mark derosa type, not an impact guy like chase utley. the offense is going to rely on the guys we currently have. they have to hit or we're screwed. so yeah, i don't see the problem with going after a good reliever since it seems highly unlikely that we're going to be making a trade for an impact bat. there's just nowhere to put it
  22. why trade lilly? what second baseman is going to be out there that's worth ted lilly?
  23. after the lakers win i want to see a reporter ask morrison how it feels to be a part of an nba championship team and see how awkward his response would be
  24. he doesn't have to be close to his 98 self to be really good
