  1. where is cubsfan26 to tell us all to give these moves a chance?
  2. Too bad we have Tim Wilken *posts about how well respected and hghly regarded Wilken is by his peers*
  3. What's the deal? Why does he suck so bad this year?
  4. If Fontenot doesn't turn it around soon we'll probably be wanting a second baseman. Also Bradley will still be hurt a lot and DeRosa can fill in there instead of Hoffpauir.... who has been pretty crappy this season
  5. His WHIP is 1.13 actually.... even better
  6. Street hasn't been that effective this year, whether that's because of a new team, new league, and/or Coors is up for debate. Neither him nor Jenks have been very productive this year, same for Rivera. Huh? All 3 of those guys have good numbers.
  7. I was hoping for Huston Street, but now the Rockies are on fire
  8. I think it has a good chance to be above average now. If Marmol can get his control back, the he, Gregg, Ascanio and Guzman are pretty good - especially considering the low cost across the board. Would we have the prospects - and would the upgrade be worth the cost - to acquire a young, cheap pitcher like Soriano or Bell? They aren't young. Soriano is 29 and Bell is 31. Plus I don't see why the Braves would trade Soriano. They're only 4 games back in the division and even closer in the WC race. Their pitching looks really good. If they trade for a big bat they might be the best team in that division.
  9. He already announced his retirement a few months ago. There was a thread on it.
  10. It's too bad he didn't get Lilly and Meche like he wanted
  11. I think 'most' is pushing it. I don't see how he's been better than Cueto, Haren, Lincecum, and Johnson. I guess you could make a case for the other three though. He's still been great. I think he's been better than Cueto. ERA is pretty much the only stat where he's better than Lilly. Fewer baserunners, missing more bats, etc..
  12. Dempster gave up the second run after he should have been pulled
  13. so apparently harold thinks walks don't count if they occur because the hitter is so good that the pitcher doesn't give him much to hit. awesome
  14. It's not odd. It's a tiny and useless sample size. It's 12 at-bats guys. 12.
  15. Damn, thats like us losing Aramis, Soriano, Lee, Harden, Dempster, and Marmol all at once, and of course, its all just in time to face the Cardinals. not really . maine, perez, and putz have all been crappy this season.
  16. guys keep in mind that bonds walked 232 times in 2004
  17. he definitely does it with zambrano too. yet he does the exact opposite with lilly. he'll pull him early when he's cruising. it makes no sense
  18. unbelievable lou. wtf. and now after back to back smoked balls he leaves dempster in with 118 itches to face chipper. oh and now the second run scores. good thing we gave up one of out last 9 outs in a one run game so we could get dempster back out there inexcusable
  19. ERA+ is about as flawed as ERA. Lilly has been better than most of the pitchers that are ahead of him on that list
  20. dude has been ridiculous since the beginning of may. i thought for sure he was done.
  21. I can't believe Lee's OPS is up to .851
  22. actually i'm pretty sure they plan on going with jerry angelo as the number 2 qb
  23. i don't care who said it, i'm just glad another player finally said something about it. i'm sick of this clown coming in with a 3 run lead against the nationals and acting like he achieved some badass accomplishment when he doesn't let them tie it in one inning.
  24. well there's no way ths is getting done by the deadline. i'd be happy if it was done before 2010
  25. from bruce- http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/2141 and from gordon wittenmyer http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/1628193,CST-SPT-cubnt18.article damn, this ownership situation is going to kill us this season
