  1. at least the 2004 team was good. they were frustrating as hell and unlikable, but they won 89 games in a pretty badass division. this year's team is just ridiculously boring.this is the least interested i've been in a cubs team since the early 2000's.
  2. yahoo is claiming that a bulls source has said they've had no talks with the jazz and that the rumor is false. i don't really buy that though. also the original rumoro n realgm said it would be kirk, tyrus, and a future first rounder for boozer. that's a little too much. kirk and tyrus should be able to get it done. let's keep in mind that boozer's injury history edit: sam smith also just tweeted this
  3. 2009: $5 million, 2010: $9 million, 2011: $12 million. Is he worth keeping with all those jumps in pay? I suppose one could say Hendry is a fool for spreading the money like that, but that's another story. this isn't the nfl. mlb contracts are guaranteed. if we cut him we'd still have to pay that.
  4. you act like soriano is regularly under .300 or something. he is awful right now, but i dont think anybody here thinks he should still be leading off right now.
  5. that was an effective post until you used uzr
  6. Only one of those players has more PS at bats than Soriano, and that's Dimaggio. I wouldn't consider anything under 100 AB in the post season an indicator. The rest: 64 AB, .314 OBP for Cobb 129 AB, .320 OBP for Mcgwire 47 AB, .317 OBP for Helton 140 AB, .304 OBP for Schmidt 106 AB .354 OBP for Bagwell 167 AB .297 OBP for Biggio 120 AB .301 OBP Piazza 68 AB, .315 OBP for Cabrera 174 AB, .263 OBP Soriano Why is 100 ABs the magical cutoff point? Because that's what makes his argument look better
  7. I love losing 2-1 games with our 2 best pinch hitters never getting in the game. Good job Lou
  8. see this is what i'm talking about. ryan braun has this magic ability to spark long winning streaks by simply forming sentences, but he only chooses to do it when it's convenient for him what a jerk
  9. then why doesn't everybody hate fielder too? braun gets a lot of crap because he is extremely cocky and acts like an a-hole. he's earned his d-bag title.
  10. i forgot about that stupid rule. but if they just put adam dunn in over pence like they should have, that wouldn't have been an issue. god the NL roster is botched in so many ways
  11. wells has been dominant for like a third of a full season now though
  12. when i first glanced at that pic i thought he had like football shoulder pads on or something. what an ugly ass shirt
  13. Also... Zimmerman over Sandoval? Seriously? .293/.361/.479 vs .332/.386/.572 ummmm
  14. Having worked years ago at a downtown Chicago hotel bar where a number of teams stayed, she doesn't even look like she'd get a first glance at being "road beef". But then again I wouldn't call her a slump buster. You can't even imagine how gorgeous some of the jersey chasers are that I saw come through the place. Yeah, I know. This woman was obviously fatal attraction to the nth degree. I wonder if McNair even saw it coming. She's DUIing all over town, has a gun -- sheesh. If you're going to dump your wife, at least find a sane woman and then break it off officially. Don't tool around with a psycho. well, choosing a girl that was only a little over half his age was the first mistake. seriously, 20 years old? good call man, good call. what a legacy youve left behind now
  15. So much for going out on top
  16. I bet the pitching staff didn't appreciate Braun calling them out either. It was just a dick move all around.
  17. Theriot could have grounded into a double play, too. Maybe the bunt gave the Cubs a run. the odds of theriot getting on base are much much higher than him gidp
  18. apparently a leadoff home run doesn't help the team win, but a leadoff walk does.
  19. I don't know if this has been mentioned....but Manuel putting Howard into the ASG is a complete joke. He has like a .325 OBP and .850 OPS.
  20. just hit a grand slam for the crew. OPS now at .964 through 110 ab. GTFO
  21. sounds like he doesn't understand what has gone on in the thread.
  22. Not what I said, and you know it. If you refer back to page three you'll see that I said "making yourself look worse." Stop making things up. Again with the childlike retorts. i strongly suggest you do what most people do and just put dexter on your foe list. if you have me on ignore and you can't even see my posts in this thread, then perhaps you shouldn't be commenting on the conversation. just sayin
  23. After Zambrano hit Wise Steve Stone was like "that's the reason Carlos Zambrano has never won more than 14 games." Uhh....
  24. Ugh. No, he didn't. "Sold high" implies that you got max value for the guy. Hendry oculdn't even get a major league reliever for DeRosa. He did not sell high. The Indians just got a better package for him than the Cubs got. Umm, no. Sold high doesn't mean that at all. Sold high means that he traded that player when that player's value was higher than it's ever previously been. YOUR perceived value of DeRosa doesn't mean anything. Especially when we have evidence of what his actual value was -- three marginal prosects, and then a few months later, one fairly decent prospect. Okay, so if "selling high" can include things like selling a player for an unimpressive package when he's at his peak value, then why is "selling high" so good in this situation? At least the Indians got a guy who is helping the major league team right now. Plus the Cards traded for 3 months of him. The Indians traded for 6 months of him when they got him from the Cubs.
