  1. That's how it was with Heyward at Braves' (Cubs) opening day. Then he hit a 3-run HR in his first major league PA. It was awesome.* *Not as awesome as Castro's
  2. no he was the general manager of the chicago white stockings in 1912 WELL NOW I'M REALLY CONFUSED
  3. Guessing that Scott GF was a poster during the 2006 season who insisted we could rebound from about 20 games under .500 and somehow back into the playoffs. Am I close?
  4. I picture Stuart Scott saying this, but I don't think he's capable of saying something so funny. Rocket kinda beat me, but I was gonna say that the difference between the two is that Heyward will be a perennial MVP candidate until about age 32 and Castro...won't.
  5. Your evaluation of how hard a guy is working is completely dependent on the results you've seen thus far. Don't fool yourself into thinking that you know Aramis isn't hitting because he isn't working hard. He isn't hitting because he isn't hitting. That said, I agree with this for the most part. Just don't mortgage the future on a marginal upgrade in a lost season. Use this season to work through Castro's growing pains and continue to develop the prospects. I can wait two years for us to get way younger and cheaper and hopefuly have a change of regime in the front office.
  6. Derrek starts out slowly more often than not. This is not the case for Aramis. I'm much more worried about Aramis.
  7. Oh yeah, the cool kids know this stuff is nothing but fun times. Did I say anywhere that I condoned the kid's actions? I'm only addressing the ridiculous overreactions in the thread. And whether or not you agree with the cop's decision, the use of a taser in this situation ended up being completely counter-productive. It got the kid the recognition he was looking for (actually a lot more than he could have reasonably expected) and it encouraged a copycat the next night. The use of the taser stopped him. I'm pretty sure that's all the guy was thinking about doing. I'm also pretty sure that most of these responses have been purposefully over the top. I doubt most people actually want snipers and beatings and all the rest. Well that is a relief

  9. See? He's just wastin' away down in them minors
  10. You're all a bunch of grumpy old men. You act like this is such a deplorable offense. "I'm gonna come to his home and taser him again?" Please
  11. Straight out. And I'm going Sunday, and that looks like the day we get [expletive] on :(
  12. He sounds like a future headache for the team that drafts him. So, another A-Rod? Uhhhhh. No?
  13. Half of the Brewers team is OK (Anderson), the other half is terrible (Schroeder). BINGO. God is Bill Schroeder turrible. And his unabashed WI accent does not belong in broadcasting.
  14. People keep saying this, and they're totally missing the point. This isn't dumb because he makes a lot of money, it's dumb because he's not even close to our worst starter. And because his value depends almost solely on him being able to go 6-7 innings each time out. AND that it normally takes him an inning or two to get his control nailed down. AND...
  15. Soriano isn't as bad is he is when he's cold or as good as he is when he's hot. He's not gonna keep this up and he's not gonna hit like Aaron Miles. You just enjoy this ride, put him on your fantasy bench for a week and wait until he takes another precipitous dip. Rinse and repeat. At least he looks healthier this time around. I love him when he hits, I really do.
  16. Hard and loose Z = wild Z. While I'm worried about his health if he's throwing harder, I'm even more skeptical about his effectiveness out of the pen. Z is gonna be cheered rowdily every time he gets out there and he's gonna be ramped up. This is a recipe for disaster regardless of the risk to his health.
  17. Please pick a more offensive green for your next worthless post
  18. Well, it was .333 just in that inning, with one line drive
  19. I wish I weren't a Cubs fan sometimes so that I could make my cousins believe that he is truly awful independent of my perceived Cubs bias. Seriously, if he were canned, they would be in an uproar. GOD he's bad
  20. right, because I'm not responsible for my actions if I had a traumatic childhood. Don't know about others, I'm thinking it's not daddy issues but more likely a chemical imbalance
  21. None of this makes any sense. And these criticisms really do extend to any ballpark built after 1980 or so.
  22. Nope, I like it. How can you look at how this tournament played out and be in favor of this? We're looking at the results of a pretty much perfect playoff system; I just don't see why it needs to be tweaked at all
  23. YESSS I evened it out
  24. What a SHOT. He had two guys on him, too
