  1. I would love to see Ernie steal this one. It's absolutely not gonna happen, but it would be a lot of fun.
  2. That's a pretty great quote. You don't hear guys gush over their peers like that much. Especially when it's coming from a veteran about a really young kid.
  3. If that was in response to me, if I have to explain the (at least) two different meanings of "hitting it"...I'm not sure how to help out there. lol Just a bad joke that we wouldn't want the ho because we can't hit anything anyway. Though now that I think of it I could see why someone might infer a 3rd meaning that I didn't intend. Yep, my problem was definitely that I missed your double entendre
  4. I do not understand the Kosuke hate. He's a nice trade piece and we need to treat him like one.
  5. Don't be silly. Verlander and Zumaya are the starting point of any Theriot discussion. Zumaya is alive?
  6. This is [expletive]. DO NOT WANT
  7. I have him on quite a few teams. He has been a solid little youngster thus far. The funny thing is I advocated picking up pitchers against the Cubs last season in fantasy. It seems it is also a worthwhile practice this year as well. It is sad, but definitely a benefit if you are a Cubs fan! He's one of two guys I'm streaming today because of favorable matchups. Another good fantasy practice if you do FFB is taking whichever team's defense faces the Rams that week.
  8. I picked up Gio Gonzalez in fantasy for today's game only
  9. Get ready to see Sandberg call for bunts, hit and runs and steals galore Its gonna be awesome. If 2010 is our letdown year a la 2005, get ready for 2006 redux next year Comparing this year to 2005 is an insult to 2005
  10. Yeah. But they sure leave the yard in a hurry.
  11. This is obviously true, because we all know how good you are at handling criticism
  12. oooh, I love this. I may have to sig it.
  13. Most managers don't have a hitter with Soto's patience and power in the 8 spot. Most 8 hitters suck, so they're put in the spot where they'll get the least amount of PAs. For Soto, there's no incentive to pitch to him, so he walks all the time. Everyone else seems to see this but Lou.
  14. I think it was during his second go-round as a player for us. Ohhh I gotcha. Didn't even think about his involvement with the staff as a player.
  15. Aw, Puuuudge. You still suck.
  16. Never seen anything like it
  17. I don't think you are. What he's suggesting is that the Cubs trying to trade for Jake Peavy would not be a good idea. wait, what? oh come on, gr
  18. Did Rotschild help with with something in the way that he helped Dempster when he became a starter? I guess Larry helped him develop that glove motion he does during his windup to hide the ball longer. Could it be something like that? For some reason I'm thinking it was Rothschild and Maddux who implemented the glove wiggle thing for Dempster. I think he was tipping pitches and Maddux/Rothschild brought up the glove waggle to hide his pitches better. Pretty sure that glove wiggle pre-dates Maddux' hire by a couple years.
  19. Truth. I'll obviously be disappointed if the US doesn't show well and advance out of the group stage, but I'm going to enjoy every other match I'll be able to watch (which will be as many as possible). I don't think I would give it another thought if the US wasn't in it. Still say the sport has to get rid of the goofy off size rule so maybe there can be some scoring, until then Americans will always think it is a secondary sport played by foreigners , though my daughter does play it HATE that off size rule
  20. I know you aren't the first to share this sentiment, but really? A terrible umpire made a terrible call that cost a kid a place in baseball's history books. This isn't hard at all.
  21. Joyce has been a terrible umpire for a long time. I'm glad it's finally out in the open so that the casual fan can see it, too. I hope the play doesn't get overturned, though. Everyone knows it's a perfect game, and I like that this guy will be remembered for his total incompetence above anything else. I also like that this guy recorded 28 outs in his perfect game. My only regret is that it wasn't Froemming.
  22. This thread is missing something... ah yes more masturbation jokes
  23. OMG I'm dying
