  1. Get ready to see Sandberg call for bunts, hit and runs and steals galore Its gonna be awesome. If 2010 is our letdown year a la 2005, get ready for 2006 redux next year Comparing this year to 2005 is an insult to 2005
  2. Yeah. But they sure leave the yard in a hurry.
  3. This is obviously true, because we all know how good you are at handling criticism
  4. oooh, I love this. I may have to sig it.
  5. Most managers don't have a hitter with Soto's patience and power in the 8 spot. Most 8 hitters suck, so they're put in the spot where they'll get the least amount of PAs. For Soto, there's no incentive to pitch to him, so he walks all the time. Everyone else seems to see this but Lou.
  6. I think it was during his second go-round as a player for us. Ohhh I gotcha. Didn't even think about his involvement with the staff as a player.
  7. Aw, Puuuudge. You still suck.
  8. Never seen anything like it
  9. I don't think you are. What he's suggesting is that the Cubs trying to trade for Jake Peavy would not be a good idea. wait, what? oh come on, gr
  10. Did Rotschild help with with something in the way that he helped Dempster when he became a starter? I guess Larry helped him develop that glove motion he does during his windup to hide the ball longer. Could it be something like that? For some reason I'm thinking it was Rothschild and Maddux who implemented the glove wiggle thing for Dempster. I think he was tipping pitches and Maddux/Rothschild brought up the glove waggle to hide his pitches better. Pretty sure that glove wiggle pre-dates Maddux' hire by a couple years.
  11. Truth. I'll obviously be disappointed if the US doesn't show well and advance out of the group stage, but I'm going to enjoy every other match I'll be able to watch (which will be as many as possible). I don't think I would give it another thought if the US wasn't in it. Still say the sport has to get rid of the goofy off size rule so maybe there can be some scoring, until then Americans will always think it is a secondary sport played by foreigners , though my daughter does play it HATE that off size rule
  12. I know you aren't the first to share this sentiment, but really? A terrible umpire made a terrible call that cost a kid a place in baseball's history books. This isn't hard at all.
  13. Joyce has been a terrible umpire for a long time. I'm glad it's finally out in the open so that the casual fan can see it, too. I hope the play doesn't get overturned, though. Everyone knows it's a perfect game, and I like that this guy will be remembered for his total incompetence above anything else. I also like that this guy recorded 28 outs in his perfect game. My only regret is that it wasn't Froemming.
  14. This thread is missing something... ah yes more masturbation jokes
  15. OMG I'm dying
  16. The US literally has nothing to do with my enjoyment of the World Cup. I love it, and I'll watch it
  17. Wow, an uncalled-for personal attack in the very first post of a thread. Stay classy, Rocket. You are a gigantic baby. If you're going to keep doing what you do, grow some thicker skin. That was an awesome find, Rocket!
  18. Shawon had a cannon. My dad said that, too. Yeah, I was too young to really know that.
  19. I was trying to think of the last Cubs SS to have an arm like that. Nomar maybe? Otherwise, I'm not sure
  20. I'd wait till we're out of contention before you even think about getting those. Craigslist only works locally.
  21. Since I'm in Chicago, I do quite a bit of craigslist. As far as my seat preferences, I like anything in the 400s or 218-224, which is behind the plate but up. I used to show up day-of and get terrace resvd for $30 up in 222. They were excellent seats. Just watch out for obstructed view. What was that site that lets you see the view from any seat in the ballpark? I lost the URL, but that was a great tool.
  22. Right, so why wouldn't he want to go to one of those instead of some sweep of a doubleheader in May of 2004? Because he's trolling? Yes. Jake is definitely trolling. And he's also definitely the only one doing so in this thread.
  23. They are going to tee off on Gorzo tonight. And the Cubs will be stymied by Moyer. Cubs' win streak ends in a laugher tonight
