  1. This guy's frickin weird
  2. Speaking of this, do think Ryan will get some of his velocity back as quickly as this year? Basically, what do you think of the move?
  3. He wasn't all that great yesterday either was he? Missed a ton of fairways. He lost a drive today despite having several dozen spectators help him look. Watson just finished with a very long putt for a second round 70 and is -5, tied for the lead. Tiger is +7, tied for 107th, with Duval, Campbell and many others. Totally rooting for Watson at this point. That would be an incredible win. I don't see him among the leaders on sunday
  4. Hey Vance, remember that test you posed to Wrigley23? He just failed it. Ban please
  5. YES YES YES MORE MIDDLE INFIELDERS NOMNOMNOMNOMNOM
  6. That's very close to being extremely funny. I just happened to have spent the night with a friend who's parents died (or were killed) when he was young. He didn't find it very funny, but I got a good laugh out of it. Not sure what that means... take it for what it's worth. If you're not sure what this means...then the rest of us have no chance, bro
  7. that may be, but history certainly suggests that it might. ...which was exactly my point
  8. After reading this thread, I can't imagine that could be true. He does seem like he has a chip on his shoulder. Sort of a "holier than thou" sense of demeanor about him... but he's still hilarious, and I can't imagine he treats his teammates like crap. Maybe they don't like his opinion of himself, but I doubt he's Jack Parkman in the clubhouse Eccentric can sometimes rub people the wrong way
  9. Either that or Lilly wanted to throw a side session in between starts (which would have been the All-Star game if he had pitched) and since he would have only thrown that side session yesterday he can't pitch tonight. Nobody else is on correct rest so that forces the Cubs to pitch Harden. Yeah, not knowing what Lilly's schedule was like surrounding the AS game, i'm trying not to get too upset about it, even though I'm pretty dissapointed. I think they already set their rotation for the next month or so under the assumption that Lilly would pitch in the ASG and they really don't think that Harden's struggles would improve with additional rest between starts.
  10. Cubs FO must not have access to the same data we do. That's the only explanation for why Harden would start tonight
  11. I'm not denying that. Simply saying that they have dealt with injuries. You seem to be completely ignoring that fact. I'm not saying the Cardinals deserve sympathy for their injuries. Again, simply stating that they've had quite a few, which makes your "the Cubs have only been healthy for two days" argument a moot point. The fact that a "star" player has sucked is a completely different point. In fact, that's what I was saying when I said that this payroll should produce more depth. Funny, your argument was that the Cubs were ravaged by injuries. Now you're changing your tune to "well we've had players who have sucked." Interesting that you'd be using that argument, since it's EXACTLY what I said in my previous post. Lohse was out for over a month. He also got skipped a few times earlier in the season due to soreness. In his place, the Cardinals started Brad Thompson. When Lohse went to the DL, the Cubs were 3 games behind the Cardinals. As of now, they're 3.5 games. I don't think we can pin the Cardinals's success on Kyle Lohse performing better than you expected him to. Again, what happens in the 2nd half isn't really the issue, since we're discussing why the teams are where they are at this moment. You made the simplistic argument that it came down to one team being injured. I simply pointed out that that argument has no merit, as the other team has also suffered greatly from injuries You have to at least admit that us losing our best player for almost two months is a pretty big deal. I wonder what your year would look like without Pujols for a couple of months? Hopefully we find out in 2011. Wow that's kind of a White Sox move, wishing harm to a player
  12. Oh that is damn good
  13. um...people are making jokes here. take this stuff elsewhere. i mean, derwood's even being half-way funny. Right, and the joke is that if you complain about Soriano you think he's committed every atrocity in the history of the world. I'm just trying to figure out the ground rules here. Wow, dude, fun is not your thing. There is literally zero amount of mean-spiritedness here and only one person who isn't having fun with it
  14. Wow, this is pretty impressive.
  15. How do you manage to misuse your/you're consistently? I have to think you'd get it right occasionally. Also, acquiring more middle infielders is the worst idea you've had in hours.
  16. BTW whoever said the AL's lineup is bad with the exception of Mauer somehow forgot about Carlos Pena. He'll put on a show tonight, book it.
  17. He has a pretty extreme uppercut/flyball swing a la Kahlil Greene IIRC. Also similar to Kahlil, his career OBP is pretty atrocious and has kept his PAs a little limited the last few years.
  18. I still really, really like this guy
