  1. Why does Hendry like Gorzelanny better than Marshall for the rotation? I'm afraid all this is going to do is continue to allow Lou to misuse Marshall.
  2. Um... He's not from Mexico. And what does interational mean? Really, guy?
  3. If "over slot" meant anything besides "a price that Selig thinks is too high for player A," then, well...this would still be stupid.
  4. The most irritating thing about those twitter posts is that all that venomous, uninformed nonsense is endearing him to Sox fans everywhere
  5. I could care less about his ego. The problem is that he's ten times the baseball announcer than anyone in the Cubs booth, both the TV and radio side. I don't want to be friends with him, I just want a quality baseball broadcast. Why is your opinion always wrong? Beat you
  6. I'm fine with the current TV booth but Stone's still a great analyst, IMO. I just ignore the whole 'big ego' point because almost everyone involved in professional sports has an attitude like that. Stone's knowledge of the game is below average. This precludes him from being a good analyst.
  7. Arnie, what's it like to always be wrong? Stone brings nothing to the table, man
  8. Uhh, he works for the White Sox now. They worry more about our team than we do.
  9. Soriano is a better defender than Bradley and a MUCH better defender than Dunn
  10. I have to say Nyjer Morgan is. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=lf&stats=bat&lg=nl&qual=y&type=6&season=2009&month=0 He's been worth 13 million dollars this year but most statheads think because he's a slightly below average hitter that tells the whole story on his abilities and that he sucks. But he's saved 19 runs on defense so that more than makes up for his crappy hitting and all around makes him a great player to have on your team. BTW the average stathead loves Adam Dunn and some actually think an awful national team was right for paying him 10 mil a year, but Nyjer Morgan has been worth almost 3 times as much as Dunn because Dunn is unbelievably retardedly bad on defense. The problem is most baseball statheads don't take into account the fact that a players defense has a lot to do with his value. Adam Dunn on pace to be worth $7.1 mil , salary $8 mil Nyjer Morgan on pace to be worth $22 mil, salary $411K In conclusion Nyjer Morgan is massively underrated by the people who think they know more than the average person about baseball because they look at a player's OPS and nothing else, while Adam Dunn is massively overrated by those same people.
  11. Haven't seen that. Sorry that you can't see that the trade opened up an outfield spot. So would murdering Chris Duncan in cold blood, but I probably wouldn't tie that to an Adam Dunn acquisition. Though Marty Brennaman would be suspicious no doubt. hahahah awesome, ssr
  12. This one is really funny now
  13. Walk years boosts are a myth. Milton Bradley disagrees. But yeah I agree, they're a myth. "Teach me, Milton!" - Rich Harden Count me in on the "Meh" for Freddy Sanchez boat. I'm not completely opposed to getting him, I just don't think he's what the team needs to be put over the top. Personally, I'd like to see them go after Figgins. Sure his defense at 2B would be worse than Sanchez, but he's drawn 30 more walks than Sanchez this year and that .380+ OBP would look mighty nice near the top of our lineup. Not to mention he could spell Aramis and Milton in a pinch if he had to. That being said,m I don't think Figgins is going to put us over the top either, but I think he'd be more beneficial to the team than Freddy Sanchez would. I couldn't really disagree more about Figgins
  14. He always seems hungover. I don't think he's with it at all, be it because of senility or all the Fleishman's from the night before.
  15. The Nats hadn't been swept at home in 2 months, with serieses against the Braves, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Reds, Mets, Giants, and Orioles in that span. Good teams get good records by beating the crap out of the awful ones. Winning 1 out of 3 at Philadelphia is what should have been expected. Philly is one of the top teams in the NL, if you're winning serieses on the road against the best teams in your league then you are the best team in the league. Tonight [expletive] blew, but to say oh look the Cubs are awful cause they can only beat [expletive] teams...I wasn't aware Philly's been steamrolling the Dodgers every night. Idiots make these arguments every [expletive] year, "oh yeah we can beat up on the Pirates, come back to me when we sweep an 11 game series in Yankee Stadium!!" Hey man, the plural of series is...series
  16. Well, since Gordon Wittenmeyer says so, this is an absolute certainty.
  17. No. Maybe if they pick up Shea Hillenbrand. My God. They'd be unstoppable. Don't you mean "My Shea?"
  18. God I love Pat Hughes
  19. Oh come on...we need a LEFTY :D heheh nice
  20. Clifton, give us more b/c nobody else has em
  21. No package with Wells or Rios as earlier reported? There's got to be more to that deal, I can't believe the muts turned that down straight up. As much as people hate Hendry here, I am very glad we don't have Omar Minaya. On a similar tangent, Steve Phillips was on Baseball Tonight Sunday night talking about the Mets trading for Halladay. He mentioned that the Mets have been risk-averse to trading high-end talent for pitching because of the Kazmir/Zambrano debacle. However, he made no allusion to the fact that he was the guy who made that deal. Dolt. SSR already said it, but there's a really, really good reason for that.
