  1. For a guy who thinks stats are penises, you just dropped a real shitty-smelling dick of a stat makes me laugh every time. Thank you, FJM
  2. Let's all hope Jim doesn't give Geovany Soto any Arby's either :D
  3. I just heard people cheering nearby on Broadway and Halsted
  4. I acknowledge Jeff Baker's existence, however, I was thinking that since 2B is Theriot's eventual destination, maybe Lou would want to start him there instead of moving him midseason, when Castro is most likely to force the move.
  5. What about Blanco breaking camp at SS with a Theriot/Fontenot platoon at 2B? Once we feel we can't handle Blanco's nothing production at SS, we bring up Castro assuming he's making further strides at Tenn/Iowa?
  6. I like Huntington, too; I was just commenting on how much has changed, and how it hasn't been for the better
  7. We just got out-front office'd by the Pirates. Think about that for a second.
  8. I knew that kid when I was in elementary school and we went to rival high schools as well
  9. That's pretty irrelevant, because we're likely only going to use him as a loogy regardless of his competence vs RHs
  10. Oh, did Roast get you a job? I got an entry-level job as a urinal cake technician
  11. I really like Fangraphs. I just wish someone else in the organization did, too
  12. I don't really care about Vitters because he hasn't done crap outside of one hot month as a pro. Doesn't look at all like he's going to be a solid replacement at 3B for when Ramirez leaves. I can see that, especially because there are concerns he'll be able to stick at 3B defensively. The real question is this, though - do you think his perceived value is higher than his value to our club as it stands now? I'm honestly not sure, but I'm leaning toward "no."
  13. I'm sure Hendry doesn't want to take a chance on the team until Blanco/Castro proves they can hit consistently at the ML level. If Marmol gets back in the groove, you would be creating quite a hole on the ML roster to protect Vitters. Theriot or Marmol in a smaller package (one other player) might be okay for Granderson, but some of the posts were suggesting a 4-player package with Theriot and/or Marmol. Theriot and Marmol simply aren't comparable entities. It's not an interchangeable thing. If adding in Theriot to any package is what got us Granderson, I probably wouldn't have a problem with it. yo did you read my post
  14. Don't get me wrong; I don't want to lose Marmol or treat him like a throw-in in a trade. Unfortunately, it almost seems like some want to treat Vitters in just that way because of a little drop in his stock this year. Marmol is a guy who is prime for trading right now - his perceived value is higher than his actual value to the Cubs (because of the risk he brings). There is no Marmol/Theriot for me. There's Marmol, and there's Theriot. When it comes to Granderson, offering Marmol, JJax and Burke is too much, whereas Theriot, Jackson and Burke is kind of a steal. I'm ok with Blanco patrolling short if we can sign a stopgap 2B and have Granderson and his production 3 out of 4 days in CF and Fuku in his element in RF. I'd call that a productive offseason and watch Theriot get overpaid on another team in a year or so with 20-y-o Castro coming to take his place at league minimum.
  15. I dont think that would be enough, they would definitely want at least another prospect or another two mid level prospects. Flaherty to me isn't worth a great deal. I was going off of the Jim Callis quote above. Yeah, and I don't agree with Callis, either.
  16. Nobody wants Ryan Theriot on their team; they just say they do. And FTR, I'd substitute Marmol for Vitters in a deal 9 times out of 10.
  17. That's a nice package for both sides. Jackson seems like the type of guy the Tigers would really like...I don't see them downgrading on the pitching part of the deal.
  18. Wow is that a Rich Harden line or what. Not saying he's gonna be Harden, but Rich puts that up about every other outing in a healthy season.
  19. Really shows an extensive knowledge of our minor league system when all he points to is a "failure to re-sign" Mark Derosa
  20. Doug Melvin is really bad at his job, but I refuse to believe he said no to Ryan Doumit in favor of Toolsy McNobat. I also don't believe the pirates would offer such value for a guy who is expendable to his current organization
  21. Nobody has a problem with Adrian Gonzalez getting a GG? My God, he's only slightly better than Fielder out there.
  22. When you're a little older, hopefully you'll learn just how wrong everything you've said in this thread is. At the very least, you'll learn to keep those thoughts to yourself
