  1. Maybe because in the context of the cubs, our toolsy prospects is just code for "suck". Yeah, that....
  2. Personally, I want to know what his plans are to fix social security...no endorsement until he gives us the goods on that issue
  3. Ehh, I kinda feel the same way...we're "pot committed" so to speak (for you poker fans)...
  4. Sorry, but Cedeno has done exactly jack when he's had his opportunities. If you guys are ripping on Theriot for his numbers how can you not rip Cedeno's numbers? He was also pretty bad defensively in the majors. OK, so he does good in the winter leagues and the minors, then why is he so damn bad when he is with the Cubs? Until he proves he can hit in the majors,it's Theriot's job to lose unless we trade for an actual SS. I've said this before and I will say it again. Lou has decided that Theriot is the starting SS and his is the only opinion that counts. I would love to see the Cubs have open competition at SS and let the better player start. I think the hangup with Cedeno is that he makes too many mistakes (physical and mental) for Lou. I think Cedeno needs to dedicate himself to reaching his full potential. His reputation as a playboy might have an effect on his onfield play. The problem is that once a player gets neglected by Lou (Cedeno, Murton, Marshall, etc.), I think there's little hope of the situation changing. Marmol's reputation as a "playboy" hasn't seemed to hurt his stance with Lou too much. Uh, Marmol has also gotten the job done on the field.....
  5. I had to flip a coin between Coletti & Sabean.... Coletti "won"
  6. Heh... I'm not all that enamored w/ Fuku either. I have the feeling he'll be a tad underwhelming...but then that means he'd fit right in w/ our Cubs Yeah we should be so saddened to have Raul Ibanez in our outfield. I mean, after all he has been a better hitter than $136m man, Alfonso Soriano, three of the last four seasons. Of course you're right to point that out. Guess I just don't feel as hyped over Fuku as others.

  8. The offense is still a more pressing area of need. Exactly.... Losing 5-2 is no better than losing 8-2.
  9. At this point, and given who the Cubs' GM is, I'd settle for any one of those happening...
  10. Dude's gonna have an identity crisis soon given all the first names that have been attributed to him..
  11. But, but...remember that great catch in that one game?? That obviously showed Hendry all he needed to see... Hopefully this is simply pure marketing on Hendry's part... You know, people (incl. GMs) tend to want what they can't have.
  12. Check out the career stats: Teahan averages 14 HRs, 78 RBI, .274, .340, .429, .769 Murton averages 16 HRs, 55 RBI, .296, .365, .455, .820 Perhaps one of you stat geeks out there can look at those numbers and explain how Teahan has "more power", "a higher ceiling", etc. When I look at the numbers it looks like Murton is significantly better in most offensive areas. To me the only advantages Teahan has are his defense and the fact he's left-handed. But in Hendry's world, that's the only factor that matters...
  13. Oh the humanity of it all if that happens...
  14. Great news if true... It's pretty clear where Kerry's loyalties lie.
  15. How about a new GM who won't trade for/sign more mediocre middle infielders?
  16. I hear it hits righties well. If that's true, Hendry screwed the pooch again--we need help against lefties!!!
  17. I voted medium...sounds like a good compromise...
  18. And one former teammate liked him a little bit too much. Ehh, I'm still feeling nauseous over that visual....At least Rammy will have a prison story to share if he has kids.
  19. Sure, why not? I mean, if we're gonna exercise Traschel's option, we might as well give multi-years to a 38 yr-old closer......in JH's world, that move makes perfect sense....
  20. I'm guessing I'll have a problem w/ pretty much anyone Hendry signs... I mean, he had a good off-season this past year (the length of Sori's contract notwithstanding); I can't imagine he'd make it two good off-seasons in a row.
