  1. Nah, no need to. Hendry has shown himself to be quite adept at acquiring mediocre middle IF'rs
  2. Nice to see there are actually a few posts about the BRob rumors... It's tiring seeing this thread become a catch-all for peeing matches to break-out. Here's a novel thought: if you wanna debate sliding into first base, or even the merits of batting avg as a relevant stat, how about starting a thread in Discussions?
  3. In the very least it's not any more meaningful than splitting up righties in the batting order.......over the long haul, of course.
  4. I'm sure the Orioles fans appreciated it when he majorly scooped the Tejada trade! Since then, it's been a whole bunch of nothing though. He should have quit while he was on top.
  5. I'm guessing not since that has pretty much been the course of events since this thread started...
  6. But he was refuted by Oscar, Grover, Bert, and Ernie. I tickled the hell out of Elmo, but he wouldn't say one way or the other. Carefull...that'll get you 10-20 in some states
  7. Uh oh....not the right thing to say 'round these parts.. :D
  8. Plus Theriot brings a lot more to the table than Cedeno. 10x better plate discipline. Umm, Theriot led the team in 1 pitch outs. If that is true than I would be completely shocked. Because everytime I saw him bat he would be taking pitches till the count was full. That might be true but I still bet his pitches per at bat was more than most on the team. Not only did Theriot lead the team in 1st pitch outs, but he was dead last in pitches per plate appearance among Cubs players with 200 or more at-bats. He's literally the exact opposite of what you said. Yep...it is the "grit & hustle" of players like Theriot that blinds many to the truths of what they actually do production-wise... Guess many fans just like the romantic notion of a gym rat-type of guy making it in the bigs.
  9. Citing Greene's BA, or his lack of SBs, isn't helping your argument....& his OPS has already been addressed multiple times, i.e., home road splits--Petco not so much a hitter's paradise...
  10. No, I get tired of you (or anyone else) saying that because Lou or Hendry or Steve Stone or Jesus Christ agrees with you than you're right. If you want to argue something, make an argument. "Steve Stone says so" doesn't count. Dunno if logic is gonna get through..the premise of his arguments suggests a somewhat dependent mode of thought.
  11. Is a strikeout somehow worse than a different kind of out? Greene's away splits show he would be almost certain to rake in Wrigley, power-wise, something would help this team drastically. He's also an excellent fielder, something this team can also really use at SS. wrigley23 doesn't seem to value home/road splits.... I like Theriot, seems like a good guy, but he should be at most the 25th man on a world series contender, NOT the regular SS...
  12. the last thing this offense needs is ryan theriot playing every day.
  13. I dunno....not sure we have enough 38 year olds to satisfy Sabean...
  14. Aramis for Cesar Izturis, if I'm not mistaken. Wait. Seriously? I recall Stoney advocating a ARam for ManRam deal a couple years ago...
  15. seriously? my guess if it was someone who had played for the Cubs recently would be Cliff Floyd, which for several years would be nice I don't know that Felix could lead the league in screaming line drive foul balls like Cliff though....
  16. :-k Gah... he's pretty slight, and he slouches and slumps a bit. He carries himself in a way that, to me, makes him look shorter than he is. That's his lefthanded goofiness. Ehh, I don't like the cut of his jib...
  17. Yeah it's not often a guy drops 20 pounds and is accused of taking steroids that same season. I'd take me some steroids if it would help me drop 20 But Bob, you're already plenty svelte!! http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/6035/bobsanders1fs1.th.jpg
  18. what? Look at the way Kerry handled himself while rehabbing - and once he was healthy again. IMO - Mark's a jerk. Have you met Mark? I have. I don't think it's much of a stretch to call him a jerk. I just don't think that he deserves any venom for it. He's not malicious, he's just not a people person. Yup...that was my experience as well when I met him a couple years ago. He's just not a very, umm, "warm" person, at least towards those he doesn't know. Hard to blame the guy. He's been in the spotlight since his early teen years, so I'm sure he's had plenty of posers around. I don't feel a great loss now that it appears certain he's gone; as others have said, 2003 was a long time ago; we need to move on....
  19. We already have someone who could lead off with DeRosa. :sarcasm: Yeah, but DeRo clearly lacks the base-stealing speed required of a lead-off hitter :sarcasm:
  20. But Roberts is left-handed....so to Jim, that might be enough to blow him away... Just sayin'
  21. It seems to have been so long since seeing "good Prior" pitch, I don't feel like we're missing out.......................yet.
