  1. I already have a tremendous man crush on DeRo; heck, my gf is clearly in love w/ the guy, and I think it's cool :o
  2. Ditto... I've always had a soft spot for Philly franchises for some reason... Maybe b/c their fans are so warm & cuddly..
  3. All right Cubbies...need to take one of these on the road. I am fortunate enough to have tickets to the Saturday game in Wrigley; I'd LOVE to see that be the series ender for a Cubs march on to the NLCS! :D
  4. QFT. If Rich can put up those types of peripheral numbers, it's safe to say we would all be happy to see him on the bump every 5th day.
  5. If the Rockies, Mets, and Phillies all win and San Diego loses we will have a tie for the division in the East and a 4 way tie for the wild card. So I would guess the Mets and Phillies would play for the divison with the Padres and Rocikes playing for a chance to play for the wild card with the winner playing the loser of the Mets-Phillies to win the wild card. Not exactly. First, the Mets-Phillies play on Monday for the NL East. Then, the loser of that would go into a 3 way playoff with the Padres and Rockies. The Rockies would get to choose if they want 1 road game or 2 home games. They probably decide to have 1 road game, so the Mets-Phillies loser would play the Padres on Tuesday. Then, the Rockies play the winner of that game on Wednesday. The playoffs would then begin on Thursday, with the Cubs either traveling to Arizona if one of the West teams win the wildcard or the NL East winner if the other East team wins the WC. Here's the simpler version of that: Monday: Mets/Phillies Tuesday: Monday loser vs Padres Wednesday: Tuesday winner vs Rockies Thursday: playoffs begin I hope it doesn't get that far. So MLB would have to push-back the start of the NLDS from Wednesday to Thursday? That would totally screw me because I am counting on the Cubs hosting Game 3 on Saturday night. Same here. I desperately want the Cubs to host a game on Saturday b/c I plan to be there if that's the case.
  6. NLDS is set to start on Wednesday. Games 3 and 4 are scheduled on Saturday and Sunday at Wrigley. Sorry, I've been drinking all day, so my brain is kinda mush, but, am I right in saying that regardless of how the other divisional/wildcard races play out, the Cubs will host games 3 & 4 on Saturday & Sunday, & that we'll be playing the NL West winner? If the Phillies or Mets win the NL East then we would play the East winner That can't be accurate, because those are the only two teams that can win the East. The first part of that statement is already 100% guaranteed to happen. It should say, if the Phillies and Mets both make the playoffs, we play the NL East winner. Ah, o.k., so the only thing for certain right now is that we'd host games 3 & 4 on Sat & Sun.... I think....

  8. Murton smoked that ball....damn
  9. There are many more years of pain in your future.....
  10. Same here. I don't live in Chicago, but I know I'll at least be in Wrigleyville if the Cubs make it that far. I might even have a hook-up for tickets, so I've got all my fingers & toes crossed...
  11. Almost as good as Hollandsworth doing the faceplant in Anaheim. Yeah, that one was an almost-classic...
  12. LOL.. Yep, clearly there is no argument! :D
  13. Never underestimate the power of our suckiness.
  14. He has less of an injury history than Marshall, and you don't see anybody supporting Marshall going to the pen. Marshall also doesn't have dominant stuff to get a strike out in a critical late inning situation. But your point about relative propensity for injury is well taken...fwiw.
  15. If only Cuban had a legit shot at ownership... As Harry would say, if Cuban submits the winning bid: "They're dancing in the streets of [name your locale]!!!"
  16. Not much to see here folks...just hoping we can put up a fight against a lefty.
  17. Easily the Splendid Splinter, IMO.... That he lost those years due to service to his country makes it even more compelling, to me at least.
  18. This one, the mets one in shea, the philadelphia one after we had taken the lead, or the one in Atlanta? Which one is our low point? The Mets loss...easily for me the worst loss of the year.......so far. I have to remind myself that our Cubbies do love to surprise us w/ ineptitude.
  19. Eh, might as well make hay when we can....it doesn't happen often
  20. The more Soto hits, the more it underscores Hendry's inability to judge talent. You're right, he'll sit. Well, Hendry did roster him before most thought he should've been. His strength is in his scouting. His problem is overvaluing minor to near worthless attributes. Well, I'm no scout, but IMO, it's always a good thing to have a catcher who can get the ball to second base w/out using a cut-off man..
