  1. Have you seen the projections for the top NL and AL teams? If this were more like the NBA playoffs, the current NBA playoffs would be a pretty good comparison, where the championship deciding series takes place in the NL Championship (Western Conference Finals). There's a chance the top 4 or 5 teams come from the NL.
  2. the Nats/Royals series is tied 1-1 Oh weird, I didn't see the Royals scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th to win, that shouldn't have happened Yeah but it does when, as someone mentioned earlier, your closer is the quickly declining and generally terrible Jon Papelbon.
  3. Jesse Rogers' string of pro-Dusty Baker tweets is really undoing a lot of the goodwill he's built up recently.
  4. 13th best pitcher in baseball Last Year Lester? Good call. Just because Rondon Fan isn't here doesn't mean we need someone to take his place. Lester was fine at the end of the season and was good. He just had a bad start if you recall. Yeah but that's not what you said. It's May 4th. Lester had a 1.76 ERA in May last year. He had terrible BAPIP luck in April, as evidenced by a 6.23 ERA and a 2.21 FIP. He's really good, along with the rest of this team. Enjoy it.

  6. This is so much better in the few seconds before you realize Jimmy Fallon is in it.
  7. Pretty much everyone is making reasonable points on the playing time discussion, and man they are so fun to read. Do we play our 6 WAR plus third baseman at third or should we move him to left, where he's also probably plus, to get our former top donging infield prospect who's maybe figured it out some at bats? If not, then we have to 'worry' about making the best utility player of the last 10 years actually become a utility player, and no matter what you've got two top prospects fighting for limited at bats, and that's before the other two dudes on bench both OPSing about 1000. And part of the reason ABs are so limited are because you have the best defensive right fielder in baseball playing next to the best player in baseball so far this year. Oh yeah, and this is all with our swaggiest donger, all of 23 years, chilling on the DL for the year.
  8. Doesn't look like any serious rain coming in, just going to be cold and miserable. Going to be a couple blocks away and checked stubhub to see if I could pop in for a few innings, maybe grab a hot dougs. Cheapest bleacher is still $60??? What are your guys go to for cheap last minute tickets?
  9. Imagine if they both panned out and we had an outfield defense of Hannemann/Almora/Heyward...with Schwarber developing into a GG catcher. You're not wrong, and I know you're projecting a decent bit down the road, but it's funny that that scenario doesn't even factor in the best player in baseball so far this year.
  10. Was gonna say it depends if the pitcher bats but thats looking very likely now I think you pull him. They're making a conscious effort to limit his innings. It's cold and miserable and he doesn't have his command, plus the bullpen got the night off last night. We'll be fine with the 4 run lead plus whatever we add on here. Unless they have some quality start streak they want to keep.
  11. Come on guys, only 68 more hearts to go.
  12. Pretty sure this is new. Arrieta on the steroid accusations, contract future. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/columnist/bob-nightengale/2016/04/26/mlb-jake-arrieta-contract-steroids-cubs/83551730/ Nothing really new here, and nothing too outrageous. If anything, just another affirmation of how sky high his confidence is right now.
  13. Best record in the league, underperforming their pythag by 2 games. Good enough.
  14. There's no way Wong isn't a total dick, right?
  15. So which of the 37 home runs we hit against the Cardinals in the playoff series was your favorite? Schwarber's is an easy number one, but Castro's smile rounding first probably takes the second spot.
  16. Somewhat along these lines, I've started noticing the some of the prospects we had to pretend to like back before we had real prospects start popping up around the league. Tony Zych, Marwin Gonzalez, Ronald Torreyes, Jay Jackson (though he's in Japan this year)
  17. For those actually watching, who's in the on deck circle?
  18. They decided to be bored in the first half of the game instead of the last half. Dude is pitching a shut out and still over 80 pitches. We'll be fine.
  19. I'm on a flight back to Chicago, trying to keep enough juice to stream the Hawks when I land in an hour. Turned on the wifi and decided to just go through this instead of checking any score apps. I have no idea what the score is, but I was grinning like an idiot reading through this. I love this team so much.
  20. Yeah, I think that's right. I vaguely remember that with Rose's first knee injury. The swelling in Rose's knee or vagina? Ha I get it, like he's a girl. Sick burn.
  21. Seconded. You're the man Raisin, et al Agreed. While it's really nice that this is no longer my first stop on NSBB, the effort by the main few of you has been amazing over the years, and it'll be good to follow this as a nice side dish to the main course.
  22. holy crap, i always figured him as a mouth breather but that surpassed my expectations I didn't like the "its just one win and we were partying like it was a playoff series win" He was great at the Convention though. Kind of a jerk to Lester, I mean really slamming him, but you got the vibe that they have the kind of relationship that could support it. I'm trying really hard to like him. A solid performance tonight would go a long way. I would have loved it if one of them would have been like 'well I/you saw first hand last October when the Cubs donged all over my/your face'
  23. I guess we know who wanted Drake out of the clubhouse... [tweet] [/tweet]
