  1. Sulley flips a slightly uneven quarter four times, then recoils in horror as it lands on tails each time, convinced the coin is cursed.
  2. Hammel bitching about getting pulled early from games back in like July and then having the second half that he had will be funny at some point in the future. Not quite there yet for me right now though...
  3. Welp. I'll admit I'll never be able to win that argument. Of course maybe if we get David Price we somehow miss the playoffs all together. So in that case, great move not getting one. I mean, sure, maybe that happens. In all likelihood, we still make the playoffs, probably. You can't say that the playoffs would have unfolded the same way, though. Chaos theory is tricky business. Yeah but the issue with that is that you can substitute literally any other possible action in the universe for "acquiring a pitcher at the deadline" and the rest of your argument wouldn't change.
  4. I know everyone who called them out for their effort got (rightfully) ripped on, but....holy [expletive] Soler and Bryant.
  5. Hammel's first inning thing has to be mental at this point because you know he's going to go 1-2-3 next inning.
  6. Yea, because one [expletive] pitcher would have turned this whole series around. It wouldn't have hurt? But that complaint went out the window when every single SP acquired except Happ and Price were not good. We were in talks for Ross but SD wanted the moon for him Cole Hamels says hello, but yeah....I'm looking more at the 6 runs or whatever we've scored so far this series.
  7. Can't wait for Bryant and Rizzo to go back to back in the bottom of the 8th to put us down 7-3
  8. This is fun guys, I'm having fun
  9. Small cheval down, beer cracked. Fowler lead off shot and we roll from there.
  10. Its TBS. Game is probably over in real life. I was at Game 1 against the Cardinals and I noticed that clock that goes between innings started at 3:00 instead of 2:30, I assume for longer commercial purposes. Not sure if you were talking specifically about this series though.
  11. Can this please not be the Bryant at bat where he takes like 3 fastballs right down the middle?
  12. this mets team is basically the 03 cubs Yeah I didn't realize it at the time because I was like 14, but it must have been pretty frustrating for a Braves fan (or whoever else was good) to watch us and the cobbled together Florida Marlins in the NLCS.
  13. I was fully prepared for us to lose a series somewhere along the line here. But I was at least expecting some respectable team to be the one to get there if it wasn't us, not this random assortment of veteran hitters and a bunch of young pitchers all peaking at the right time. Not saying it's over...I just felt like we still had something to prove against St. Louis, and was so happy that we went out and did that. Would have been the same against the Dodgers, or hell even Washington if you gave me the hypothetical in April. It sucks that out of all this, right now the Mets are somehow the heavy favorite to be the one to come out all of this.
  14. Snydergaard went 133 last year, 179 this year. When Jake was 46 innings past his 2014 mark he was looking pretty nasty too. Unfortunately that was about a month ago.
  15. Yeah those first two pitches to Montero should be enough for them to shut it down.
  16. lol we play whoomp there it is Right...because that's awesome. What the hell is wrong with you? Fan of team thinks his teams stupid traditions are amazing, other teams stupid traditions are stupid. This has never happened before.
  17. Nice sequence of events by that announcer there, talking about how Arrieta going from the right side makes him so tough against righties, which is great besides the fact that he was significantly better against lefties, and then says Arrieta doesn't have his fastball today and isn't throwing it about 3 seconds before Jake gets a K on a nasty two seamer.
  18. I know this sounds smallball-y, but I'd really love if we could get a baserunner before there are two outs.
  19. Don't overreact Joe. Jake is still by far our best option for the next 3 or 4 innings.
  20. If Montero is going to keep hitting like he's been hitting....actually no, I'm not ready to say what I was about to say. Let's go Jake.
  21. Jesus Seinfeld clap like a normal person.
  22. Granderson has been a solid player for like 10 years. Murphy's a quality player too. The Mets are a good team and I expect an extremely competitive series. I was going to say this but i was too scared I'd be blasted by the "Murphy is a scrub" brigade. He was probably the best Mets hitter over the course of the entire season. Yes, the power is a bit flukey but this happens in the postseason. Murphy is a deluxe platoon player having the 2 week stretch of his life. In tonight's Mets lineup he is about the 6th or 7th best hitter depending on if you want to account for the opposing starter and platoon advantage. Murphy has played in over 140 games the last three years (with over 600 PAs each year) and has 5.6 WAR the last two years (wRCs 107 and 110). He's not this good, because no one is, but if he's their 7th best hitter we are in a lot of trouble.
  23. Wait for the outside change up and take it out the other way. You aren't getting a fastball in the zone.
