  1. We have seven pitchers on 2+ days rest. In an elimination game, our starter who has given up 6 hits and 4 runs in 3 innings does not need to bat three times.
  2. We need to stay on brand tonight guys. There’s obviously enough Seinfeld gifs for tonight and the next eight games.
  3. I'll be in Carmel, Indiana, which combines all the worst parts of suburban bars (really dumb middle aged sports 'fans' pretending to care about the game) with all the worst parts of Indiana (the 22 year old in the Cubs hat last night who was doing everything he could to not drop a hard N on Edwards last night, screamed the series was over after the Grand Slam, and then left without leaving any tip). Should be great.
  4. I'm seeing .359 in his career (and .410 this year), but he's working good at bats and LaStella hasn't seen any lefties all year. I'm fine with it. .359 is against lefties in general; the .378 is against LH starters over his career. Interesting, didn't know you could pull that data, I stand corrected. Pretty much got what we want, besides Happ (Heyward against a lefty?!?!)
  5. Even if you go by Jay's career numbers, he's still got a .378 OBP against LH starters. I just want someone on base. I'm seeing .359 in his career (and .410 this year), but he's working good at bats and LaStella hasn't seen any lefties all year. I'm fine with it.
  6. This isn't really a good song, but I'd be remiss if I didn't add it to the thread on a day like today.
  7. Eh, I think that's playing way over his head...100 PAs with a .391 BAPIP and a 16% hard hit. But just realizing LaStella only has like 14 PAs against lefties this year, even though he's 100+ points better in OPS vs lefties in his career. Fine, whatever, Jay to right, Happ to second.
  8. Drunk Joe/my secretly ideal lineup 1. Almora CF 2. Bryant LF 3. Rizzo 1B 4. Contreras C 5. Happ RF 6. Russell SS 7. Baez 3B 8. 3 AM 2B
  9. Uhhhhhhhhh...not a big Gio Gonzalez fan? Hendricks is a better pitcher than Gonzalez. But they're both on enough rest. I'll take 5 innings from Hendricks over 5 innings from Gonzalez. Scherzer on short rest vs Quintana and the rest of the game is more interesting.
  10. Dusty trying to send a message to...someone with the empty bullpen. Schwarber is going to do his own imitation of javy game one last year
  11. So unless they let Lester hit, this is probably his only inning. Is he available again tomorrow? Would Quintana be?
  12. Montgomery had been warming up long enugh he could have pitched to Werth Werth is .820 against lefties, .691 against righties.
  13. I get the decision to a certain extent. Though I feel like I’ve been watching pretty close and thanks to this brilliant production crew I have no clue if anyone is warming up
  14. Jake’s gone and will go long enough. Go to Monty Monty is the better pitcher, but these are perfect lackey conditions. Monty’s control issues scare me in a tight game.
  15. Against everyone except maybe Harper, he needs to attack the strike zone. Everything in the air is just going to die, keep the pitch count down and don't give out any free passes (controlling the running game is trickier on a day like this). Complex analysis, I know.
  16. Even if it mattered, which it doesn't, what are the odds that is statistically correct?
  17. There are some dirt cheap tickets out there right now. Just sit 7th row behind the Cubs dugout for $100/each. Managed to dump two of mine for $80 each, which is a steal in hindsight.
