  1. Seconded It's just stupidity. You're learn in little league that when the ball is hit in the air you need to make sure it falls before you run. Just think about that. There are thousands of 9 year olds that run the bases better than Jacque Jones.
  2. I think everybody but CubfanInCA is in agreement that Z shouldn't have come out to pitch the eighth so let's just end the argument.
  3. One thing I've noticed about Baker. He'll never preemptively have the bullpen warming up in these situations. He always waits until the first sign of trouble and usually doesn't pull the pitcher until it's too late. Baker is reactive rather than proactive. perhaps it's a show of confidence in z??? the guy's quite proven. no need to be pessimistic. Z looked terrible, and he was clearly tired. The Cubs, and Zambrano, got very lucky there. And who cares about showing confidence in him? The Cubs need to win, not make Zambrano feel better by having no one up in the 'pen. That's plain old bad managing. Not replacing Z was a mistake, and it was then compounded by leaving him in there for 20 pitches. I wonder if Rothschild says anyting to Dusty. Larry: Hey, Skip Z looks a little gassed. Dusty: You think? Larry: Well, he walked the first guy and the next two tatooed the ball Dusty: Really, I wasn't paying attention. I guess I should get someone up in the pen. Dusty: Ok let's bring a reliever in. Larry: You don't have anyone warming up. Dusty: Larry: Would you like me to have Howry and Eyre warm up? Dusty: Whatever, I'm getting another toothpick.
  4. maybe you need to heed your own advice and not be pessimistic, eh? all star pitcher vs. 4th man in the pen. hmmmm Williamson has a 3.71 ERA. The 4th man in our pen this year is FAR better than the 4th man in the pen in years past. You can't make that comparison.

Baker is reactive rather than proactive. perhaps it's a show of confidence in z??? the guy's quite proven. no need to be pessimistic. You know Z is at 100 pitches. You know you have one of the best bullpens in the league. It is inexcusable to not have somebody warming up just in case. It's not pessimism. It's called being prepared. it's called ticking an all star pitcher off. Z should be mature enough to not get ticked off there. All-Star pitchers don't get ticked off if their manager has somebody warming up just in case.

  8. Then bring in Williamson. But Z shouldn't still be in this game with a rising pitch count.
  9. I love how they show Dusty and Rothchild in the dugout and they're both just sitting there like nothing's wrong. Anyone have a pitch count on Z now?
  10. Both he and Rothchild. It's one thing to have Howry/Eyre warming up and waiting to see if Z gets in trouble. But not even having anybody warming up is inexcusible.
  11. Why is Z still in the game. Memo to Dusty, YOU HAVE A GOOD BULLPEN THIS YEAR, USE IT.
  12. For all the criticism Phily gets for booing players, everybody knew that Phily was going to give it to Bonds as bad as any town will this year. The best part is the sign takes up 2 whole sections.
  13. Did you see it? Did it look intentional? Oh it was totally intentional. Russ Springer is my new favorite pitcher. I'm gonna have to catch a BBTN or SC later to see it.
  14. Good luck homering at Shea. The Giants are in Houston. Then Oakland this weekend.
  15. Yes. This is the last year of MLB.TV for me. They haven't improved it from the first year it was offered. Waste of $100 Way to go Z. BTW> It is much more fun to read the replys to the troll when he's on ignore. I haven't had any issues with MLB.TV and enjoy it.
