  1. He is a fool. 2003 was a long time ago and with an expanded payroll we still haven't been into the playoffs since then. He has done some good trades but overall most of his FA signings have been questionable. It seems like every year we go into the season with question marks and some of them aren't corrected the following year. This years debacle takes the cake and as fans I believe we deserve better than Baker and Hendry. Don't forget that only 4 teams in each league make the playoffs every year and the Cubs had a better record in 2004 then in 2003. Is it Hendry's fault that the Cardinals won 100 whatever games in 2004? No. If this was basketball, the Cubs would have made the playoffs in both 2001 and 2004. We should have been a lock for the wild card but our inconsistent offense and blown saves cost us that year. With the postseason situation in baseball, nobody is a lock to make the playoffs.
  2. Feb 2 2005. He traded Sosa for nothing and signed Burnitz. Sosa needed to leave. What was Hendry supposed to do, eat Sosa's salary? I don't see what else Hendry could have done with that sitation. He did eat Sosa's salary and he could have signed a top tier FA OF instead of Burnitz. I'm not disagreeing with you, but please refresh my memory on who his other options were that year besides Burnitz because I don't remember. Magglio, Alou, Beltran, Drew and Dye. Honestly, I was ticked we didn't bring Alou back. I didn't like that one bit. I was glad we didn't get Beltran. I didn't think that one good month was worth $100+ million. Drew had a bad injury history. Magglio would have been a good sign though. Thanks for the info.

  6. I don't have a problem with a Cardinals fan posting on this board. There are plenty of fans of other teams that post here just like some Cubs fans that post here post on other boards. But like somebody else said, nobody here wants to see a montage of Pujols home runs regardless of whether it's well made or not. I encourage you to continue to post here and offer your opinion on how much the Cubs suck this year.
  7. That makes him 5 for 8 on the season in the #2 spot. He really saved us today! Neifi for MVP. Easily. I think I'm going to start writing him in on the All-Star ballots.
  8. I think I'm going to watch The Natural instead.
  9. That's the only thing you can do...And drink alot. That's for when I get off of work tonight...or maybe a little during. I'm bartending. Do you think I can try to sue the Cubs for trashing my liver and mental anguish? I think I have a case... If I have to go see a shrink for the Cubs, I'm going to send my bills to the Tribune Co.

  11. I am officially done being disappointed that the Cubs are sucking this year and have resorted to just laughing at their failures.
  12. We won't need one of those. That would actually help the team. You know we can't be having that. :( I could be the bunting coach. Now that's a position we need. I'll start off by working with Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, Michael Barret, Matt Murton, and Ronny Cedeno. Something innovative that I'll do: I'll have them learn to bunt left-handed so they will be a step closer to first base. Maybe we can beat out some of the throws that way. I'll make situational switch hitters out of every right-handed bat on the roster. Genius, I know. HAHAHA. Downright hilarious. I love it.
  13. That play defines our season. The Hairston near catch.

  16. Except building a team with a combination of good OBP and power, and have a manager that knew how to use his players to get maximum performance. But yeah, other than that, we've tried everything. Fixed. cubbiechris said that, not me.
  17. Why? Just because Ozzie played for the Sox doesn't mean that's the answer. Francona didn't bleed Red. McKeon might be an old dude but he didn't win because of his knowledge of South Florida history. Same with Brenly in Arizona. Saying the Cubs need a manager that understands Chicago and the history is absolutely ludicrous. I know the history -- we've sucked more or less for a century. Where do I sign? Send me a finder's fee and I'll see who i can talk to. Finder's fee? You're my bench coach. Can I bee the pitching coach? I can wear out arms like the best of them. Or the hitting coach? I'm sure I can figure out a way for the Cubs to swing and miss much more gracefully.

McKeon might be an old dude but he didn't win because of his knowledge of South Florida history. Same with Brenly in Arizona. Saying the Cubs need a manager that understands Chicago and the history is absolutely ludicrous. Okay let's get another laid back California dude....Why is that Ludicrous? Wouldn't you want a manager that has pride for his town and team? Didn't Dikta have that? Doesn't Ozzie have that? Heck this team has tried everything else! And who would you suggest be the manager?
  19. God forbid that we actually win. I was disappointed on Wednesday that we didn't bring Rusch in for Zambrano before we scored 5 runs in the 6th. If we bring Rusch in during the fourth or fifth innings, it's guaranteed that he gives up a bunch a runs and the Cubs are too demoralized to hit the ball by the sixth.

  21. Pierre is mixing it up from his usual 4-3. In the past few games I've seen multipe 6-3 and the occasional 5-3.
  22. Double play. And yes I do know runners are on second and third.
  23. Even the St. Louis Pujols would have lost those games.
