I was going to say Marmol hitting a HR is worse, but he was a position prospect for like 3 years before moving to the mound, and had a 648 OPS in the minors (albeit with only 1 HR). So yeah, allowing Bynum to reach base twice is rock bottom. Two teams this year have allowed him to reach 3 times in a game :D Which two? Split squad games between the Cubs don't count.

Since returning from the injury/personal issues... 33 games, 292/331/504/835, 7 HR Sean Casey's numbers since coming to the Tigers... 32 games, 236/270/336/606, 2 HR There's something more going on here. Whether he's been disruptive in the clubhouse or has more off the field problems, there's no way that he couldn't have been at the very least a very good power bat off the bench - and the numbers suggest he should've been starting over Casey. From the looks of it, there had to be something else going on.

That's the kicker with the "get a good, but not great starter" idea, it's likely to be a marginal improvement at best. And it would be much more expensive.

Jim Hendry is dancing in the halls of the Tribune building. This will be his marquee dumpster diving signing for 07. Hendry won't sign Dmitri Young to be a starter. He might sign him as a pinch hitter/bench player but that would hardly be considered a marquee signing.

Hey, all the NCAA was trying to do was shorten the game so the students attending the games can go out and start drinking again sooner. I'm sure those extra 15-20 minutes were quite painful for those in the stadiums itching for drinks.
