Texas is returning 16 starters this year and, while they do lose Vince Young, they do have a very good team this year. With Bomar getting kicked out of Oklahoma there isn't much competition in the Big 12 for Texas this year. Their only real tough game is against Ohio State and that will be at home. If they win that game, they very easily could run the table and find themselves in the BCS Title game. Even if they do lose to Ohio State, they should still finish with just 1 loss and win the Big 12 again. The Texas defense and running game and recievers will all be better this year. If Vince Young was back, they would be a unanimous #1 team in the nation and one of the biggest preseason favorites ever. Vince Young was one of the greatest "winners" in college sports history, and you don't just replace that very easily. I think you are going to see a lot of similarites betwen Colt McCoy and Major Applewhite, the only thing is he has a true freshman who could very easily be starting over him. I think it is very possible that QB is not much of a question for Texas. Should that be the case, their is no reason Texas will not be defending its National Championship. The only thing I worry about for Texas is the game against Ohio State is early in the season so neither quarterback will be tested in real game situations at the college level. Not only that but Texas will have a different offense this year because they tailored that offense to Vince Young's abilities. If it was later in the season and the quarterbacks had a little more experience then I might change my tune. I think Ohio State will pull it out but it should be a close, entertaining game and I wouldn't be surprised to see Texas emerge victorious. I will say that I believe the winner of the Ohio State-Texas game will be playing in the National Championship game on January 8.
