  1. Yup. Not getting Zito either.
  2. You're contradicting yourself; there's no such thing as "straight point spreads." There's either straight picks (which means just pick the winner) or point spreads. Perhaps you could clarify which one you meant you prefer. Oops. Thanks for catching that. I would prefer straight picks and I'm going to change it in my original post.
  3. I would prefer straight picks for both leagues but wouldn't be opposed to including point spreads for the college pick em. EDITED to change contradicting myself.
  4. When is the first matchday (i.e. when is the first Champions League game being shown on tv).
  5. I knew he was a wimp the day he alligator armed a pass across the middle when Mike Brown and Urlacher wanted to kill him. I've never trusted his heart since. I think he's exactly the kind of guy, and in exactly the kind of situation, where he would lie about an injury in the preseason to avoid the work. Ditching practice isn't the same as skipping the Super Bowl. He thought he could get a huge raise with a big Super Bowl game. Financially, these practices don't do him any good. Well stated.
  6. Is there a time limit? 1 hour. My daughter did it when she was about 14 and 100 lbs dripping wet. I've seen several try...... and fail !! Personally, I couldn't eat a steak that big if you gave it to me in 6 installments on 6 different days !! I could do that, it's only 12 oz per day. There's a Cattlemans in Dixon (near Davis) that has a 2 pound steak that's only a couple dollars more than any other steak on they menu (that I would order) so I usually get that. I usually finish around 2/3 of it. mmm...steak...mmm <-goes to get a napkin to wipe off the drool
  7. The ageless wonder is still playing. Amazing.
  8. I don't feel sorry for him at all. He's a millionaire and he is not living up to his contract. A true athlete would be in much better shape than him. Anyone else remember David Wells when he was on the White Sox? I know he's always been a bigger guy but he was huge when he was with Chicago.
  9. Ladies and Gentlemen, the word of the evening is age. Age relative to level is where it's at, and it's why Pie is the runaway choice for Minor League POY. Felix is playing this entire season at 21 years old. Donald Veal is a year younger and 2 years below. Much less impressive. Gallagher reached AA at age 20, but he spent half the year at Daytona like Veal. Any disparity is gapped and more by this discrepancy in age relative to level. And remember, Felix dominated AA at that age as well, and has carried it forward where Gallagher and Veal have not. All others are out of the question. Jake Fox is 24 and just making it to AA, Pie will be making Major League All-Star games by then. Scott Moore is a year older and a level behind, get him outta here. Like any good player/team making a run at an end of the season honor, Felix has turned it on during the home stretch. As his team battles for a postseason spot, Pie has caught fire, putting up an obscene .357/.400/.631/1.031 line in August. When the going gets tough, Pie gets going, sporting improved numbers once runners get on, once they get into scoring position, and with 2 outs. Clutch may not exist, but if it does Felix has it coming out of his ears. And let's face it, Pie is the jewel of the system. He flashes all 5 tools, he's been a winner, scouts love him, stat people like him, he's got charisma, he WANTS this award. Vote for Felix. Best prospect in the system with the most impressive showing when you consider the word of the day, age, and the fact that he is at the highest level of MiLB while turning in amazing performances to help his team chase the playoffs down the stretch. Vote for the wrong candidate if you like, many of you already have, but deep down everyone has to admit to themselves that this guy deserves it. VOTE FELIX(He has a great smile too!) http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/18/182285.jpg I knew somebody was going to make the age argument. I'm not saying it's not a good argument, because it is valid, but I knew somebody was going to do it.
  10. They already did. It's the fans' faults. Stupid fans. Bums.
  11. The Cubs had the lead? Meh, these days a tie almost seems like a lead. That's a good point.
  12. And the latest in the Terrell Owens-Bill Parcells "Fight For Power" in Dallas has another twist. I, for one, don't believe a word of this.[/url]
  13. Was there a memo I didn't get (insert Office Space jokes here) about not participating in the game threads until after the 6th inning?
  14. His percentage is now low enough that his stolen base attempts hurt the team. Just curious, what is the percentage. I'm not doubting you, I would just like to know. I've got him at 72.1% now. Thanks for the info.
  15. Why? We'll reach 5 pages before the end of the game :D Not likely in Premium.
  16. This game thread is almost as pathetic as the Cubs season has been.
  17. It wouldn't matter what prospect we got in return. Getting rid of Gopher Ball and his contract is all that matters.
  18. Money still talks in this game. We would have to overpay. If the Muts offered 14/season the Cubs would have to offer 16-17/season. What other choice do the Cubs have at this point? Hendry has put the Cubs in this position. Now going into 2007 the Cubs have a gaping whole in that rotation. I would rather overpay with $$$$ than prospects(see the Juan Pierre trade) Actually, you'd only have to offer another penny... If memory serves me correctly, in an open bidding war... no Boras client has ever signed with the team that offered less money. That's what I was going to say as well. Zito will go to the team that offers him the most money. I don't think the Cubs will offer him the most money.
  19. It's not like the Cards never did the same thing to us. 2002 game on ESPN
  20. His percentage is now low enough that his stolen base attempts hurt the team. Just curious, what is the percentage. I'm not doubting you, I would just like to know.
