  1. First, the second interception (the one Bob Sanders picked off) came with about 10 minutes left in the game. While it was unlikely that the Bears were going to come back and win the game, fact is the game wasn't over yet. Ten minutes is more than enough time to get two touchdowns. I'm not saying it's likely considering how the Bears offense was playing, but it's possible. Second, you can't just dismiss his second pick as not being a bad throw because you think it came late in the game and was just trying to make something happen. A good throw on that could have been a touchdown, or at least very good field position (Sanders picked it at the Indy 21), and all of a sudden the Bears are only down five with over half the fourth quarter still to play. That was a horrendous throw. There was also the throw, that somebody else mentioned, where Grossman scrambled to his left and tried to throw it into double coverage and it was almost picked off. Don't get me wrong, I happen to agree with your overall assessment of Grossman. He wasn't good yesterday, but he wasn't bad either and could have played much, MUCH worse and he wasn't the only reason the Bears lost the game.
  2. I'd rather go with Stanton. I think Smith will be badly exposed in the NFL. Yeah, I don't think Smith is going to have much of a career as a QB in the NFL. The Florida game really exposed his weaknesses.
  3. Yup, best to judge a quarterback after his first full season of play. Unfortunately, many of Rex's flaws are not ones that are easily corrected, IMO. He has little poise under pressure, throws off his back foot too much, has poor pocket awareness, and seems to have an obstinate attitude regarding his flaws. Personally, I have always been very patient when it comes to developing players, like Corey Patterson, for example. But I see little in Rex Grossman that inspires confidence that he will develop into anything other than a league average QB, at best. And given his set of flaws, I think that would take 2-3 years to achieve. The Bears' overall talent level puts them in a position to win again next year, and perhaps the next, but the window will not be open forever. If I am Angelo, I move to add some stability to the offense. And the problem is if Rex isn't the answer, Griese isn't either, and Orton could easily be out of the league by next year. Do the Bears make a trade for someone like Byron Leftwich, which I don't see. Is a back-up like Schaub in Atlanta a better option then Grossman? Or do you go with a rookie straight out of the draft? You can have Aaron Brooks. I wouldn't mind one bit.

  5. How about Prior? Maybe that would help him stay healthy and return to form. :D\\ that was my thinking Does it have to be one player or could you put up a couple smaller photos say of Wood and Prior? Maybe include Lee in there as well since he was hurt last year?
  6. I was laughing about that as well. I think either of teh running backs deserved the MVP over Manning. You could make a very legitimate case for all three. Addai had more yards (receiving and rushing) than Rhodes did but Rhodes got a TD and Addai didn't. Manning had a solid game but he wasn't great tonight. I think they gave it to him because he's the QB. But I wouldn't have had a problem with either of the three winning it and would have actually preferred Addai because before the game he was my pick for MVP.
  7. They're the best team in the world. No, they're the winner of the SB, not the best team in football, much less the best team in the world. If that game is played on grass, Bears win. That may sound like sour grapes, but it's true. How about we actually have the SB in football conditions instead of a vacation destination. You don't think playing in sunny conditions without rain wouldn't have helped the Colts either? Both teams had to play in the same conditions out there. And? Some teams are built to compete on tuff and others on grass. Same conditions my hiney. The Bears are a cold weather grass team. The Colts are a turf team. You do know that the Colts play their home games in a DOME right? And like CCP said, this game was on grass, not turf.

  9. Um, the Bears tried to blitz Manning and they weren't getting to him. There is no point continuing to blitz and only having 5 in coverage rather than 7 if your blitzes aren't forcing Manning to get rid of the ball early. For how long the Colts offense was on the field, Manning rarely even got hit today.
  10. My scapegoat is Ron Turner. I'm sure you could trace the blame back to Neifi Perez somehow.
  11. Oh, they'll crucify him and run him out of town. Jay Mariotti will be leading the pack. It's as inevitable as the Bill Plaschke "Tank Johnson is a disgrace" column.
  12. Addai He should be, but I can see them going with Manning to make it a good story. Manning 25-38, 247, 1 TD, 1 INT Rhodes 19 rush, 112 yds, 1 TD Addai 19 rush, 77 yards, 10 rec, 66 yards If Addai had a TD, he would get it without question but because it's close I think they'll give it to Manning.
  13. That should do it. Congrats to Peyton Manning and Indianapolis. Now the question is who gets the MVP?
  14. Better give him a breathalizer first.
  15. I bet you Bears fans can't wait for the inevitable Jay Mariotti "I told you Rex Grossman and the Bears weren't any good" column tomorrow.
  16. Griese isn't any better. He can't possibly be worse than Grossman. Rex doesn't do anything well. Rex still has room to improve and get better though because he's young. Griese won't improve anymore. Remember that Rex is in just his first year as a starter. Rex has shown the ability to be a good QB this year and it's not like he only had one or two good games. His big thing will be learning to be more consistent out there. EDIT: I can't believe I just defended Rex Grossman.
  17. Yup. That was just a horribly thrown ball. Late and underthrown.
  18. BOB SANDERS!!! That should do it.
  19. Mediocre might've done it. Same with below average. And the media will talk like the Colts were so superior. Down only 5, with the Bears playing awful and turning the ball over. The only people overmatched in Miami tonight are Rivera and Turner. Are you kidding me? The Colts have been dominant today. The Colts should be up by 2 touchdowns right now. They have a 2:1 advantage in TOP and a 3:1 advantage in total yards. The Bears are lucky to be within sniffing distance right now. The Bears could have been up 14 or more at the half had they gotten a few more first downs. The Colts have not been so dominant simply on their own merit. Game over now. They haven't moved the ball the whole game. The Bears offense this game has been the kickoff return by Hester and the 52 yard run by Jones. That's it. They've been horrendous for basically the whole game - well the short amount of time they've actually been on the field. Indy had about 250 yards of offense in the first half. Vinatieri has missed a FG and has made 3 inside of 30 yards. If the Colts finish a couple of those drives off, the game would have been over a while ago. This isn't a case of the Bears losing the game rather the Colts winning it.

  21. Yeah, that's what I thought? 2 challenges per team in the NFL.
  22. Lucky that ball wasn't picked off.
