  1. It's true! Cubs.com I couldn't have asked for much better (realistic) news when I woke up today. Although I must ask...WHY THE HELL DID THEY BRING UP ANOTHER DAMN CATCHER WHEN THEY JUST SENT ONE DOWN!?!?!?
  2. Ditto. Yanks will be buyers. Again. I think Dmitri Young is headed to NY. With all that money, all that pressure to win, and being a mere 6/7 games out of the playoffs--in mid-July, no less--there is no chance they are sellers. The Cubs' best opportunities for trades will be with the usual suspects. Attention Jim Hendry: just hang up the phone when Baltimore calls. Please. If Baltimore is willing to take on either Izturis or Eyre for just about anything I would say yes.
  3. it was 9 days since I got it, I'm not entirely sure if she was "in the mood" or not don't care either Doesn't matter how or why as long as you do, right? :D
  4. A resigning of Z will hopefully take up any money available for Kendall.
  5. This is one of the few times that I'm okay with the game not being televised on WGN since it will be aired on FSN Bay Area out here.
  6. The only issue with Hendry resigning Kendall is from a monetary point of view. The Cubs have a ton of money already tied up in payroll and Kendall is not likely to come cheap due to his reputation (not saying I agree with it but it's true). Hendry is also going to be negotiating a deal with Z at the end of the year which will limit the money even more. And I believe that Hendry realizes that Z is much more important than Kendall is. That's not to say that a Kendall deal at the end of the year won't happen but I don't think it's all that likely.
  7. No he's not. I'd definitely prefer to have my pinky toe cut off than my entire leg. Wait, so you would prefer that the Cubs get rid of Pagan before getting rid of Jones?
  8. Just a small update for the thread... Seeing as there are less than two weeks to go before the trade deadline, the Yankees are now only 7 games behind the Red Sox in the AL East and 6 games behind Cleveland and tied for third place with Minnesota in the AL Wild Card. Considering that after tomorrow's game against Toronto they have 4 vs Tampa and 4 at Kansas City while the Red Sox have 4 vs the White Sox and 4 at Cleveland, I think it's safe to say that gap could narrow a bit more in the next week. They're not selling anything useful at the deadline.
  9. To answer your question, yes you did.
  10. Haven't we beat you 4 of 6? Didn't Kyle Loshe throw 8 shutout innings and K you 12 times? I don't remember the specific numbers, but the Cubs had plenty of success against the Cards last year. That didn't change the fact that the Cubs stunk and the Cards... well, you know. Speaking of Cards, what's with Kip Wells pitching 8 innings of 2-hit ball against the Marlins? Is the Marlins' offense really that bad? Cubs were 11-8 against the Cardinals last year which included both a 3 and a 4 game sweep at Wrigley. Cubs were also 10-6 against the Cardinals in 2005.
  11. Good news. Hopefully they'll send Gallagher down.
  12. Not trading for him in the first place would have been the best.
  13. Yup, that's the plan. Wasn't that the plan yesterday and today as well?
  14. Thank you Arizona for at least managing one game. Now win another one tomorrow before getting swept this weekend please.
  15. I'm in. Still lots of time to join, folks. We need more players (victims). I just signed up. You all can thank me later for guaranteeing you won't finish in last place.
  16. One more, Sean. Just get this thing over with.
  17. Hopefully when Demp gets activated, he'll get sent down.
  18. Now they can bring in Eyre for mop up duty.
  19. You mean like leaving Prior in for over 120+ pitches with a 12-3 lead in Game 2 of the NLCS?? Notwithstanding your failure to get the facts right, that's the best example of Dusty's "leave em in with a big lead" strategy killing us. What is wrong with my facts. OK it was a 12-2 lead. But he came on and faced 2 batters in the 8th before Baker finally pulled him. If he didn't have 120 pitches he had more than 115, Im 99% sure. 116 pitches.
  20. What does our offensive production have anything to do with QS's? Z only had 80 pitches so if it was a close game he would have stayed in for another inning or two.
  21. "Gotta give the bullpen a rest, dude."
  22. 44 pitches... dunno about minutes Don't know if you (erik) saw it but a couple pages back I said that Len and Bob said it was a half-hour half-inning before Koyie's AB so it was probably around 35 minutes total for the bottom of the fifth.
