  1. I think it's pretty clear that Murton is the best option to play in RF all the time and I'm not quite sure how some people fail to realize this. Murton last year put up a .295/.356/.426/.782 against righties in 319 AB's in 2006. Floyd has put up a line of .293/.356/.397/.753 line against righties in 174 AB's in 2007. And Floyd hits righties better than lefties whereas Murton is the opposite.
  2. why? It's not tryout camp. He failed early and why should he replace anyone? exactly. Murton was brought up to be a pinchhitter and an occassional starter. That is what he should be unless he proves himself differently. How exactly is Murton supposed to prove himself when he gets 8 AB's a week (which is about what he would get as "a pinchhitter and an occasional starter")?
  3. Put me in the 'give Fontenot a couple days off' camp. Ronny tore up AAA and he deserves another shot to show what he can do. If he can't get it done, put Fontenot back in the starting lineup and see if he can make some adjustments. Right now, Font isn't getting it done.
  4. I've got to agree with jjgman on this one regarding the pen. I mean, the pen blew a bunch of games early in the year and subsequently, the Cubs were horrendous in one run games. Now, the pen is pitching well, and all of a sudden the Cubs are winning all kinds of one run games. That's only a two run difference but it has mattered. Cubs record in 1-run games: April through June 2: 2-12 June 3 to present: 12-5 That has coincided with the Cubs turnaround. EDIT: I'm not saying that luck has nothing to do with it - I'm sure it does - but the pen has played a bigger role.
  5. So has that Brewers board crashed yet? If not it's gotta be pretty close.
  6. Can you add The Book Thread to the social master sticky?
  7. I hope to get all of my moving done before this game begins.
  8. 0.5 back!!! Z dropped his ERA to 3.47 and DLee hit his 5th homerun in 9 games. I love it.
  9. Just out of curiosity, did you want the Cubs to sign Carlos Lee in the offseason because he killed the ball at Wrigley field?
  10. Thank you St. Louis. Now go back to losing.
  11. This thread is getting me excited again.
  12. I will unfortunately be unable to watch this game as I will be at the Giants game. As much as I hate Bonds, I'm hoping to see history tomorrow.
  13. God only knows. Maybe they'll flip him. I think that they think they will be able to get back in this thing. They have the last few years anyways. Houston has never been one of the smartest cities in the US. However to their credit they have do have one of the largest stripper populations in the United States :-). They have some of the best Gentleman's Clubs in the nation. Treasures is truly an awesome place. If Vance knows anything about anything, this is the subject. :P I once saw a bunch of Cubs in there a night after a game. Of course, I wasn't paying any attention to the Cubs players at the time. That was probably the first time you've seen Cubs players and not gone up to ask for an autograph.
  14. Link :x Although he was a beast for OAK in 06, I highly doubt Payton is the answer in the OF I wouldn't refer to him as a beast for the A's last year. He put up a .296/.325/.418/.743 which was a 94 OPS+. Not to mention that he's due $5M next year. Please don't do this, Jim.
  15. It certainly has a whole lot of potential.
  16. I said before today's game that I can excuse Friday's loss if the Cubs can win the last two and win the series. Don't let me down.
  17. Thank you St. Louis. Thank you very much.
  18. Ah, but tomorrow the Brewers get the elixir for confidence dysfunction: Kip Wells. But, stranger things have happened. Win tomorrow and Monday with a Brewers loss tomorrow, and we're tied for first. I'm not sure facing Kip Wells tomorrow would help that much. I mean, unless the Brewers get three or more runs in the ninth inning, they're going to give Anthony Reyes (currently 0-10) his first win of the year. At least Wells has won a couple games this year.
  19. I bet you can't wait for the next Cards-Brewers series. I know I can't.
  20. CUBS WIN!!! CUBS WIN!!! Two games back in the division and wild card.
  21. Floyd trying to injure himself with every swing.
  22. Well, after his running display on the last play, I'm not so sure about that. Either way you don't send your pitcher there with no outs and the heart of the order coming up. I completely agree.
  23. Well, after his running display on the last play, I'm not so sure about that.
  24. Thank you St. Louis. Just keep piling it on - no lead is safe.
