Hmm... What would the media play up more if the Cardinals moved into first place: Rick Ankiel's comeback or the Cardinal players doing it in the memory of Josh Hancock? I'll go with the latter. -
Its getting comical now seriously. I really wonder what games they are watching with some of the comments regarding Marshall. i'm pretty sure there are people on this board who still think starting pitching is our biggest problem Which is absolutely absurd.

Only having 1 lefty isnt really that bad of a thing. The Cubs are going against traditional thinking by not having a loogy, which makes sense considering Wood, Weurtz, Howry, and Marmol can all get lefties out. While I would have preferred for Eyre to be gone I realize that, to the Cubs management, that really isn't a feasible option. But I am more than happy that Ohman has been sent down and am most definitely not complaining. I don't really like the idea of a loogy in the first place especially when there's a 50/50 chance the manager is going to leave him in to face a righty. The guys who can get the guys out are the ones I want pitching. I don't care if they throw lefthanded, righthanded or with their feet. As long as they get guys out.

The inning should be over if not for the Atkins error. AKA, Baseball's traditional game scoring is really stupid. I don't see what the big deal is. The inning should be over so the runs should be unearned. So why should the pitcher be allowed to go willy nilly and give up home runs and other things the defense isn't related to? ERA in general is stupid. Its much too much subjective, and the ability to completely end all scoring on a pitcher after an error is stupid with 2 outs too. Because it wouldn't be the pitcher's fault that the inning was still going on in the first place. If the defense doesn't make the error than the other runs don't get allowed that inning.

Theriot's grounder should have ended the inning. So any runs after the inning should be over are unearned. Learn something new everyday, for some reason I didn't know that any runs after a "should be" inning ending play were unearned. Good to know, thanks! No problem.

Bad pickoff throws? Leadoff single? I prefer leadoff homers. I prefer 6/14 in leadoff spot. I prefer .500 OBP over .336 OBP in the leadoff spot. I prefer someone who can take walks over someone who strikes out 3x more. I prefer people who know what they're talking about over people who don't. Ever heard of a sample size?
