  1. Cubs have to win the last two games of this series. Anything less is unacceptable.
  2. Can we get a story? When I'm not in the office, yes. Hahaha you know how that goes... I'll be anxiously awaiting this one. Jeez, a lot of pressure here. I'll have to work on this one -- I'm definitely more of a story teller than a story writer. Maybe I could submit a video. Hand motions/mannerisms help in this one  You're not getting out of this one without a story.
  3. I'm guessing that whole losing thing has something to do with it.
  4. Thank goodness I didn't watch the end of this game. I was pissed enough when I saw that the Cubs lost 5-4 and Howry got the loss, i.e. the Cubs came back and tied it at some point to get Hill off the hook.
  5. I'm done with this game. Have as good of a night as possible, guys.
  6. I'm going to the Giants-Marlins game on Sunday and, as much as I hate Bonds, it would be pretty cool to see either 755 or 756.
  7. Arroyo could go through three innings in the time it takes Rich Hill to go through one. Is that 10 in a row he's set down?
  8. That's freaking cool, my friend. While I don't get to go to any NFL games, a kid from one of the schools I cover signed with Tennessee this year and it sounds like I'm going to get to attend five Vol games this year in the press box. Being at as small a paper as I am, that's a pretty big deal. Covering big time college games is something I would love to do as well. I didn't even know our paper did this. I think it might be something my editor is offering to me because I'm a Raiders fan.
  9. Be sure to tell Jamarcus that he's awesome. If he's even there. He's still in Alabama right now because he doesn't have a contract.
  10. I guess we could hope to start the top of the sixth and either score a run or more or not finish the top of the sixth so the game is suspended.
  11. Well this isn't what I wanted to see upon getting back from dinner.
  12. Yeah, but their 3rd order winning percentage places them behind the Mets, Braves, and Dodgers. What's the difference between the two? Essentially, you substitute predicted runs based on how everybody is hitting, ballpark, pitching staffs faced, etc... instead of actual runs and runs allowed. It pretty much takes Aramis's .325/.438/.600/1.038 line with 2 outs and RISP and adjusts it down to his normal line and sees what we would have hit against a neutral staff in a neutral park... and then does the same for pitchers that have been unlucky or lucky based on their numbers with 2 outs. So the pythag W/L is solely runs scored/runs allowed with nothing else like park factors factored in?
  13. I think you'd just root for neither team to sweep. I pull for the team with a worse record going in to win the game.
  14. Can we get a story?
  15. I just found out I'm going to Raiders training camp for a day next week as a media member. Even though the team sucks, I'm really looking forward to it.
  16. Burrell? I said valuable... Aaron Rowand is a free agent at the end of the season. Be nice to have him come our way. Send Fontenot, Jock/Pagan, and Petrick/Wuertz their way. I hope you are being sarcastic. Trading our 2B, CF, and a decent relief pitcher for a 2 month rental of Aaron Rowand doesn't make sense even though I'm a big Rowand fan. I would definitely trade Fontenot-Jacque/Pagan-Petrick for Aaron Rowand. I wouldn't want to part with Wuertz but Petrick I have no problem using in a trade. I realize that, including this year, he's only been over an 800 OPS in three of his seven years but we wouldn't necessarily be picking him up for the future. Rowand has a .922 OPS this year and would be a great addition to the team espeically for the price above. I mean, there's no Pie listed. No Murton. No quality pitching prospect. Everybody wants Jacque traded anyway and Pagan isn't an everyday player. Petrick is just a relief pitcher and I don't think anybody is going to argue that Fontenot has 'All-Star' written all over him. Plus he's 27. If you can get Rowand for cheap, do it. EDIT: Though I think it would take more than that to get Rowand but I may be wrong.
  17. If somebody actually sits close to the field when Wood is pitching can you shout at him that eating th postgame buffet will NOT injure him.
  18. I know he's young, but that rotation will be built around Lincecum and Cain. Plus, they are stuck with Zito. Jonathan Sanchez (another LHP) is in the pen now, but a solid SP prospect. And I believe Lowry should be arbitration eligible this year. If they want to save a few more bucks and get younger in the process, they will listen. They don't have a lot of youth coming up the pipe as far as position players go. I think Lowry could be had for a couple decent IF/OF prospects. I think Lowry is in the category where Sabean will trade him if he gets a good deal but he isn't going to actively shop him to other teams. And with the cheap contract he signed at only 26, there could be teams after him. But like brinoch said, Morris is most definitely on the block. He is not in the Giants' future. EDIT: And you're right on the Giants not having much in terms of quality position players in the minors.
  19. I decided to google it just for the hell of it and the first result was Mark Grace's wikipedia page. As for the question, no, I haven't.
  20. Good to know they're both still alive. I figured Chris might have gone insane trying to write backwards all the time and ended up in an insane asylum.
