  1. No game thread up yet so figured I would start it. Sounds like Dempster is going to start barring a last-minute trade. Cubs have won 14 of 19 and hopefully that hot streak continues. GO CUBS! edit: all right then.... we'll hold David's spot open for Saturday's game.
  2. No game thread up yet. Go Cubs. edit: we'll hold Aramis Fan's turn over 'til tomorrow.
  3. If you feel like torturing yourself for three hours, you can listen to the worst announcing team in sports on WGN. Go Cubs.
  4. Cubs have won three straight. Hopefully they keep it going. Go Cubs.
  5. Cubs are actually on a winning streak and looking for their first 3 game winning streak and sweep of the year. Go Cubs.
  6. Cubs have lost 13 straight. Cubs have won 1 in a row. Go Cubs.
  7. This video is absolutely amazing.
  8. Cubs have won 9 of 15 including series wins over teams with three of the best four records in the NL. Hopefully they can keep it up. Go Cubs!
  9. Win the game, win the series, continue recent run of good results. Get it done, Cubs.
  10. No game thread up so I figured I would start one. Looks like these might end up being first come first serve this year with the way the team is playing. Anyway... Go Cubs!
  11. I was talking with my dad about this last night but I'm not sure how to do the math on it so hopefully somebody can help me out. If you matched up a really bad team (like the 2011 Astros) against a really good team (like the 2011 Phillies), what are the chances the bad team wins a five-game series or a seven-game series?
  12. He's thrown three straight complete game shutouts and a 33 inning scoreless streak. His June: 5 GS, 42 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 21 H, 8 BB, 0.21 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and an opposing batting line of .151/.197/.173. His last two games were against the Red Sox (2nd in R/G, 2nd in OPS) and the Cardinals (5th and 4th). The last team to score against him? The Chicago Cubs in the third inning on June 11 when the immortal Luiz Montanez singled home Starlin Castro.
  13. Cubs go for the series win and their first three-game winning streak of the year. GO CUBS!
  14. Three out of four qualifies as a hot streak for the Cubs so hopefully they keep it up. GO CUBS!
  15. Win the game, win the series. GO CUBS!
  16. Southpaw is still MIA and with today's game being a day game, I figured I'd get this thread up. http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/mlb/players/full/5580.png&w=350&h=254 3.84 ERA, 1.23 WHIP in 11 games, 10 starts. http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/mlb/players/full/4138.png&w=350&h=254 8.31 ERA, 1.85 WHIP in two starts The Cubs had a good start to the homestand by taking two of three against the Mets and scoring 24 runs in the process. Hopefully they can keep it up this weekend against the Pirates and Astros to get closer to the Cards heading into the series in St. Louis next weekend. Also, if someone wants to inform the Cubs that winning more than two straight games is a good thing, that would be wonderful. GO CUBS!
  17. http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/mlb/players/full/30592.png&w=350&h=254 6.26 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, 13 K, 6 BB in 23 IP over 13 appearances (four starts) As starter: 10.05 ERA, 2.02 WHIP, 8 K, 4 BB in 14 1/3 IP http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/mlb/players/full/2748.png&w=350&h=254 5.40 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, 11 K, 8 BB in 23 1/3 IP over 11 appearances (two starts) As starter: 6.30 EAR, 1.70 WHIP, 4 K, 5 BB in 10 IP A great eighth inning propelled the Cubs on Saturday and hopefully they can keep it up tonight. Russell has allowed exactly four earned runs (two starts he gave up an unearned run) in all four of his starts this year while not allowing a single run in his relief appearances. Hopefully the Cubs can get some runs off Wakefield because Russell's likely to give up a few. GO CUBS!
  18. http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/mlb/players/full/4499.png&w=350&h=254 4.89 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 39 K, 19 BB in 57 IP over nine starts vs. http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/mlb/players/full/29223.png&w=350&h=254 2.60 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 9 K, 6 BB in 17 1/3 IP over 11 relief appearances. First start of season. Tonight's game didn't go too well so hopefully the Cubs can bounce back on Saturday. GO CUBS!
  19. This worked well last year so figured I'd start it up again. Milton Bradley got thrown out tonight while standing on second base and arguing (correctly, FWIW) an out call at first.
