  1. If the Cubs can beat Webb, I guarantee they'll win the series. If they get to a Game 5 back in Arizona where they'll have to face Webb again, they'll lose the series. I don't think they'd stand a chance in Game 5 against a well-rested Webb. If the series lasts 3 or 4 games I think the Cubs take it.
  2. Through all of this arguing about the seventh inning home run/non-home run and the 'was Holliday safe?' debate, the most important thing is...THE CUBS ARE IN THE MOTHERFLIPPIN PLAYOFFS!!!
  3. Colorado will just protest the protest, showing the blown homerun call that should have ended the game in the 9th. It wouldn't have ended the game though. San Diego still had 6 outs left and the game would have been different with Colorado up 2 rather than just 1. You can't definitively say that the blown HR call forced the game into extra innings. It's the butterfly effect. In this situation, the blown call at the plate ended the game. It's over now and the Padres can't do anything about it. They don't have another at bat to come back. This was it.
  4. Well, not really since this ended the game and the missed home run call didn't.
  5. Holliday never touched the plate. He should have been out.
  6. Wow. Runner on third, tie game and no outs. It would take a Cub-like effort from the Rockies to not win this thing.
  7. One of the most awesome things an announcer has ever said.
  8. Good news about the scheduling. I have a 4:00 soccer game to cover on Wednesday so I'll be back well before the 7:00 start time. Thursday's I probably would have been screwed either way. I just pray we get TBS at work. I might end up missing the end of that game as I'll be heading to the airport to go to Chicago.
  9. I could see MLB starting either the Phillies game or the Red Sox game at 8:30 ET on Wednesday but there is no way they are going to start a game at 10:30 ET in Cleveland or Philadelphia on Thursday. They just can't. That night it has to be the Cubs-DBacks late.
  10. so 4 CT wed 6 CT thurs not official like he said, though That is not good. I have to work at 4 p.m. on Wednesday and 6 on Thursday which means I would have to miss the last half of both games. Can we switch the game times? Because that would work much better.
  11. I, also unofficially, have my total at 1050 points.
  12. I guess MLB said that they won't announce playoff times until at least Noon Eastern tomorrow.
  13. LET'S GO CUBBIES!!! *CLAP* *CLAP* *CLAP* *CLAP* *CLAP*
  14. this team is far superior to 98. that teams pitching was total crap, and it's offense one guy. they are also facing a much lesser opponent, than that 1998 team. I think this team is about as good as the 1989 team, but again, they will be facing a lesser team. the 'lesser' is not meant to detract from the DBacks. that 98 Braves team was incredible, and the 89 Giants were very very good. I remember going into the 1998 playoffs thinking it would be a miracle if the Cubs didn't get swept by the Braves.
  15. Hopefully the Cubs win in 4 and win both games in Chicago because I'll be there.
  16. The key will be not letting Z throw too many pitches in Game 1 (Dusty Baker just fainted BTW) if it's not necessary. Get him out of there with under 100 pitches if it's possible that way if we need him to go in Game 4, he won't be gassed.
  17. So just to make sure that I understand the rotation correctly, the earliest I would be up is for Game 2 of the NLCS, right?
  18. cuz the people who vote look at records only Plus they have a QB who throws for 500 yards a game against HS teams. same reason why Boise St. played in the Fiesta last year. Boise was good though. clearly, yeah, but they didn't play anyone till the Oklahoma game So 10-4 Oregon State who finished third in the Pac-10 and beat USC is nothing? Boise crushed them 42-14 last year.
  19. It would be cool to start one but I wouldn't mind seeing a 3 or 4 poster rotation either like the Cubs will be using in the playoffs.
  20. I would assume the would. All that's left to be decided is the wild card and that team is starting in Philly anyway.
  21. You might just get your wish. Padres are getting blown out by the Brewers. Just need Colorado to win today and then tomorrow in the playoff. Still gonna be tough for the Rockies. They still have to win today and will have to beat Jake Peavy on Monday. Where will that game be played if it's necessary?
