  1. Happ is a .670 OPS vs lefties this year. Caratini is .574. I don’t think anyone would have minded if they let Happ hit and PH Almora for the pitcher. But like someone else said, he basically picked Caratini to bat over Happ. I guess, but Almora's contact ability is more valuable the earlier you use him there, meaning with less than two outs. Considering how slow he is, I’d almost rather he bat with two outs so he can’t GIDP. None of them seemed like great options there so I tend to go with the higher upside guy. Could very easily have gotten no runs letting Happ bat and using Almora after Willy.

  3. Plus they said Caratini is on deck. Let Happ bat and have Almora PH for the pitcher if it gets there.
  4. Why are we PHing Almora for Happ? That’s an insane decision.
  5. The A’s are pretending it’s 2010 again because they’re giving starts to Trevor Cahill also.
  6. And Thames just walked it off. Wade Davis sucks.
  7. He's still walking over 4 per 9 like last year except his K's are down to 10 per 9. ERA of 4.57, FIP of 3.99. Making $18M next year, $17M in 2020 and has a $15M mutual option in 2021 that becomes a player option with 30 games finished in 2020 and if he's healthy going into 2021.
  8. Fun fact: Duensing’s FIP is one run worse.
  9. It really amazes me how frequently pitchers throw the ball into center or get close to it on plays like that.
  10. A grounder right at Baez or Russell would be ideal.
  11. It always bugs me when a pitch like that gets called a strike because it was never a strike. At least if it curves across the plate and ends up a couple inches off, it was in the zone at some point. That pitch never was.
  12. Looked out to me. Oh well, no challenge available.
  13. And with the pitcher coming up. Gave us an auto out to start the third.
  14. Or, considering he’s been hitting well there, they could just keep him in that spot.
  15. Rougned Odor has a career 4.6% walk rate. This year, he’s at 7.1% (before today). Two years ago, he walked 19 times in 632 plate appearances. Today, he had 6 plate appearances and walked in 5 of them. None of them were intentional. In his other PA, he homered. He’s apparently the 4th player ever with 5 BB and 1 HR in a game, along with Aaron, McGwire and Edgar Martinez.
