  1. Last 20 starts in 2015 147 IP, 76 H, 17 R, 14 ER, 27 BB, 147 K, 0.86 ERA, 0.70 WHIP, .410 OPS allowed 4 CG (3 of which were shutouts) 15 games where he allowed 0 or 1 run, 10 of which were 0 runs. Shortest start was 6 IP Only game he lost was when the Cubs got no-hit by Hamels (Cubs lost one other game where he left with the lead)
  2. They also started off pretty far back. In the last 10 games, they’ve picked up 6 games on Det and 5 on Col (passing both in the standings), 5 on Min and 3 each on KC and Mia. The only team they haven’t gained ground on is Washington since both are 1-9 in the last 10. They’re 3 games behind Mia for 5th right now. Only July 31 they were 6 back. 5th worst record is well within reach now.
  3. the last inning was awesome Too bad it wasn’t Chapman who blew the save.
  4. Normally this would be easy for me to say I’d root for the White Sox to beat the Brewers. But the LaRussa being the manager makes it a tougher question. I really don’t want him to get another ring.
  5. With his salary demands it was basically City or PSG. Just would have been more interesting going to City. I know they didn’t win the league last year but they also got less than a full seasons worth of starts combined out of Mbappe and Neymar (35 total) and only lost the league by a point. Currently -800 to win the title.
  6. boy is ESPN pissed. I don't think PSG has fewer interesting games than Barcelona really. They didn't even win the league last year. Plus they'll have lots of chances for beautiful goals. La Liga is a much better league than Ligue 1 so they’d at least have a couple games each against the two Madrid teams. I suppose by interesting I mean competitive as well. I know PSG won’t win every league game this year but you know what I mean. They’re going to steamroll the league. I was hoping he’d go to England at some point just to see how he would do there. This just seems like he’s going for the paycheck, to coast through most of the season and to pad his stats against much weaker competition. I know if he went to City they’d win the league again and at least one cup competition. But it would have been fun to see him in the Premier League.
  7. Messi to PSG is the most boring move he could have made among the big leagues in Europe. I don’t even care about seeing him with Neymar and Mbappe because they’re going to have like 7 interesting games this year at most, depending on how far they goin the UCL.
  8. Cards have walked 26 batters with the bases loaded this year, after walking 4 with the bases loaded in one inning yesterday. Major league record is 28. They've actually been really good overall with the bases loaded, with the lowest BA and 2nd lowest SLG allowed. However, they’ve allowed the 4th most runs because they’ve faced 171 hitters with the bases loaded, 16 more hitters than the second place team and 41 more than third.
  9. B in an ideal world with full fitness. But this is our, like, C- team Thanks. I knew it was our C team but didn't know much of anything about their team.
  10. Is this Mexico's A team?
  11. !!!!!! That was really close on the offsides also.
  12. When he walks on to the feeling smiling, I’m imagining him thinking “ah yes, the field where we crushed the hopes and dreams of thousands of Giants fans and made Derek Law cry”.
  13. Going to be tough to tank at least one day of every five as long as Hendricks is pitching. I know they won today but a 2-1 loss is always in the cards with this offense.
  14. [tweet] [/tweet] Guaranteed he wants nothing more than for one of his pitchers plunk a Cleveland batter tomorrow.
  15. And yet infinitely better than the new uniforms Rizzo and Baez will be wearing next.
  16. [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo] Personal favorite of mine because I was there for it. Cubs are up 3-0 but Rondon blows it in the 9th. Rizzo walks it off in the 13th. We were sitting on the 1st base side but moved to the 3rd base side in extras to get into the shade. We had a perfect view right down the line of the HR.
  17. Don’t like this move at all. Lakers need shooting around LeBron, not a ball dominant PG who can’t shoot.
  18. Counterpoint: Jason Hammel came back after we traded him to Oakland.
  19. So why didn’t they bat then? had to get kyle ryan that 2nd inning down 3 runs Sending a reliever back out there for a 2nd inning is one of Ross’s favorite things. Does it all the time.
  20. Had to have been Jed’s call, right? Seems odd neither would have wanted one last PA.
  21. Ross wasn’t actually doing what he claimed he was doing.
  22. must be nice I guess this is kind of what we did when our rebuild started to blossom. The problem is we ended up with guys like Heyward and Quintana and Chatman/Davis rentals instead of Machado, Darvish and Scherzer. Kind of cherry picking there. Pads also ended up with Eric Hosmer and Blake Snell (5.44 ERA this year). Cubs also signed Lester, Zobrist and brought back Fowler. If we’re just looking at on field performance, lumping in Chapman/Davis with Heyward (and to a lesser extent, Quintana) isn’t fair to those two reliever. And even Heyward, hindsight is 20-20. Was there a Cubs fan who wasn’t excited about bringing in a dude who was 26, put up 12.4 WAR over the prior 2 years and averaged 5 WAR over his first 6 years? Maybe you balk a bit at the length/total money but nobody thought Heyward to horsefeathers the bed the way he did offensively.
  23. 2-3 with a HR today and it drops his OPS for the series to 2.511.
  24. Well Reds can’t be mad at Javy anymore. Javy couldn’t run so that’s clearly the only reason he walked to 1st yesterday.
  25. Oh my god that might be my favorite walkoff ever. Just glorious.
