The beginning of 2014 if you exclude the minors. At least the last two months of 2014 you had Baez and Soler getting called up. If you include the minors, then it goes back earlier since we drafted KB in 2013 and he destroyed the ball right from the start.
I’m doing what the Cubs should do: tank for a better draft pick. Because of that strategy, I’ll be dropping all of my players and replacing them with nobody. The #1 pick next year will be mine!
Chapman in the 7th (it was a DH) with a 1-run lead: HR (on a 1-2 count) HBP (on an 0-2 count) Walk And then he got yanked. Both runners scored. He had a 1.98 ERA on June 20. Since then, he's made 3 appearances, 1 1/3 IP, 5 H, 6 BB, 2 K, 9 ER.
2017 4 game series in Milwaukee with like 10 games left in the season and the Cubs up 3.5 games. Last chance for the Brewers in the division race. 1st game of the series the Cubs are down a run in the 9th. Happ beats out an IF hit on a literal tie with the ball, gets to second. 2 outs and Javy up, who somehow dribbles out through the middle to score Happ and tie it. Bottom 9 Wade Davis has the bases loaded with 1 out, believe he gets a K and then goes 3-1 on the Brewers hitter, one ball from losing but instead gets a comebacker to end the inning. Top 10, unclutch KB hits a 2 run HR and the Cubs win. Think they took 3 of 4 in the series and closed out the division in St Louis Then the next day they ended St Louis’s season with a bunch of backups in the lineup.
Marlins pitcher hits Acuna with the first pitch of the game and gets ejected. Acuna ended up scoring so he threw as many pitches as runs allowed. Can’t imagine that’s happened for a starter very often, if ever. Reliever it’s definitely happened before I’m sure.
Only other team to blow a 7 run lead this year (teams were 234-1 before today) is the DBacks. I'm not sure if everyone is aware, but the DBacks really, really suck this year.
Cubs are only the second team to score 7 runs in the 1st inning and lose by at least 7, joining the 1976 Giants. Only three teams in the last 40 years led by 7 in a game and lost by more than the 8 runs the Cubs lost by today. Cubs also had a franchise worst .1875 BA for a single month. Even their awful April they hit .216.
Yeah, it definitely wasn’t intentional but it doesn’t have to be intentional to be dangerous play and a red card. Mane got a red a couple years ago for kicking Ederson in the face going for the ball.
