  1. All I know is the Brewers BETTER get it all out today, cause they ain't getting anything from Zambrano tomorrow. The Cubs will win the series, and I fully expect Z to go 8 innings, and just DOMINATE the Brewers.
  2. OH....goony, you HAD to go there, didn't you? There's a Jim Edmonds joke in here somewhere... Stupid question... Is Edmunds really gay? There have been rumors and speculation (namely the Edgar Renteria shower incident that earned him the nickname of "Lassie"), but no one publically knows. It's kinda like Derek Jeter and A-Rod. Enlighten me. I think the ROUGH version of th e story is that...Edmonds had a "little too much to drink" after a ballgame, and got a "little too friendly" with Edgar in the SHOWERS. I'm sure that is a rough draft of what happen, but that is, IMO, a blount version of what happen. If anybody can provide a little more of the details, then share.
  3. If we get Tony Clark, maybe Lee and Clark can challenge Deng and Noce to a 2 on 2 basketball game.
  4. With that, if the Cubs are trading a solid vet "cheaper" bullpen arm for an overrated, low productive, EXPENSIVE player, I think the Cubs should GET a prospect say.....Sergio Santos, John Ford Griffin, or somebody along that nature. If the Cubs don't get a prospect in the deal, then they would be screwed.
  5. I'm sorry, but Delmon shouldn't just face a suspension, he should FACE criminal charges. Tossing a bat at another person, is assault, plain and simple. If McSorely could face criminal charges after slammin' his stick into Brashear, and if Bertuzzi could face criminal charges for sucker punching Moore of Colorado, then Delmon should face criminal charges for throwing his bat, INTENTIONALLY at the umpire. Baseball should not award Young, with a suspension, or should I say paid vacation, Young should be awarded time in jailhouse. This is uncall for.
  6. http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/cubs.asp?id=182595 I have to ask, why does Bruce Froemming hates the Cubs organization? I mean, I can remember SEVERAL calls with him as umpire have gone against the Cubs. This umpire, IMO, has an agenda with the Cubs. And if it possible, the Cubs should ask MLB to never schedule Froemming to work any Cubs game---home or away---cause it seems to me, the Cubs won't get a fair deal from him. He wouldn't explain his decision to call a balk to Williamson? Now he should be FINE for that. I mean, if Williamson balk, should the player have the right to know what he did, so that he doesn't do it again? This is why I think Froemming has an agenda against the Cubs. And if Froemming wouldn't talk to Williamson, why didn't Baker go out there and get an answer from him. All in all, I think it's time for Froemming to retire---cause if the Cubs make the playoffs, and he is part of the postseason umping crew, the Cubs will get screwed---because that old man is LOSING it. Rant off.
  7. I'd say offer the kid the Cubs got for Lawton(Berg), and get Pena today. Having Mabry lead off the bottom of the ninth, would have been abit better then Perez.
  8. The Cubs need ANOTHER big bat on the bench, if for nothing else, to keep Nefti from ever smelling the batter's. It is a BAD managing job, when you have Neft leading off (and I know that was mention earlier). The Cubs need to find another RH big bat, so they can get rid of either Bynum or Restovich (way back to Iowa) .
  9. And Jacques Jones is an "offensive liability." So you take the average, with the bad.
  10. If the Cubs could get more then two gosh darn hits against a AAA pitcher, maybe they would have swept this AAA team. And the Cubs are in no position to be "just satisfied" with series wins. If they can get the sweep, they NEED to develop that killer instinct, and complete the sweep. Sweeping the Cards, and not sweeping the Marlins, makes this Cub fan  .
  11. Why, oh why, are the Cubs being played tough by a AAA team? Even without Lee, the Cubs should have one all three of these games, COMFORTABLY. This crap of playing down to the competition has GOT TO STOP, because it is friggin' annoying.
  12. Well....it happens. Pierre steals that bag atleast 8 out 10 times, so I am willing to bet that catcher doesn't get Pierre again.
  13. Compare to Carlos Zambrano's MLB debut, Gooz's outing looks like an All Star.
  14. Nady was acquire for Mike Cameron. I don't think the Padres woulda taken Corey Patterson for him. I know the Nady for Cameron deal, and I know the Padres wouldn't have taken Patterson. I was thinking they may have accepted say....Welly and another prospect for Nady.
  15. Ryan has disappointed, but he has the tools, and is YOUNG enough to get it going. Stop trying to have Ryan compete against other players of the same draft, because who knows...let's say the Cubs took say either Brandon Wood or Lastings Milledge and Harvey went somewhere else. Who to say the "alternate Cub pick" wouldn't struggle, and Harvey deemed the next can't-miss top prospect? I still believe in the kid, and sometimes, it tooks longer for some players to developed then others.
  16. yep, he said he was "indifferent" though I seriously doubt that. Even tho he had signed with the Marlins at the time of the NLCS, I'm willing to say that he prolly pull for the Cubs (for the last time as a Cubs fan/non major league player) during the season, before he committed to the Marlins full time. Once a Cubs fan, always a Cubs fan. (even Joe Girardi has make a similar statement).
  17. Sorry to butt into the conversation, but... BA .360 OBP .438 SLG .467 HR 1 RBI 21 2B 5 K:BB 16:10 SB:Att 4:5 Apparently, Lyle (younger BIG brother) inherited the same baseball genes at Matty. For those who don't know...Matt is 6'1 220 lbs, his YOUNGER brother, Lyle, is a 6'4 226 lbs first baseman (ok, Matt, why'd you stop growing at 6'1? ) for GT. And considering these numbers are in "platoon situation", and seeing as he is a FRESHMAN, pulling it off, in one of the tougher conference baseball leagues in America, is impressive. I know this MAY NOT belong in this folder, but considering we have been giving praise to Matty, we might as well give some decent shout out to Lyle.
  18. Oops is premature.
  19. I DON'T enjoy watching Walker at first. He is about as gracefully as Todd Hundley in the outfield. And the only reason why he looks good defensively, is because the INF is making a strong effort, to make a strong solid throws (I know, I know, they should do that with Lee at first, but they also know Lee will bail them out). INF has to be "pretty" with their throws, wait until one of those guys have to make a "hurried throw." It would be pretty. I still prefer Walker at 2B, and getting a LEGIT guy who can play 1st.
  20. Too bad the Cubs couldn't forsee Lee's injury and acquire Xavier Nady in the offseason. He WOULD have been an ideal fit.
  21. But Arizona has Jackson, Green, and Tracy who can all play some first base, pretty much making Tony Clark a very expensive redundant player. But, I don't think Ari would do it less then a solid young reliever, perhaps a 5th starter.
  22. Let's be honest with ourselves...there really haven't been many hard hit balls. The Cubs are being 1 hit by a friggin' AAA club, pretending to be a major league club? This is JUUUSSSSSTTTTT great. Can we start the Cubs motto now, "Wait till next year?" Cause it's the same crap, different verse.
  23. I just don't get it. The Cubs were frustrated by Corey's inability to be a more selective hitter, so naturally they go out and get a more EXPENSIVE, OLDER version of Corey. I just don't get it. I would prefer Burnitz to Jones.
  24. Key word.......No luck thus far He is still 25 yrs old, and I am willing to be patient with Prior.
