  1. You know the Cubs should be banned from having an opportunity to bat.
  2. Tell us what it was like, Grandpa. we had a very hard time scoring runs, we had lost out best offensive threat to a freak accident a week or so before. Juan Pierre came in to score in the first inning. then jock jones got doubled off 2nd with the bases loaded killing a great rally, the pirates then scored on a infield single by joe randa. then the 8th inning came and matt murton hit the ball just out of the reach of jack wilson, jerry hairston came around to score. Ryan dempster came in to close down the pirates. it was great :-k LIAR. You are accusing the Cubs of ACTUALLY scoring a couple of runs, not to mention accusing them of winning a game? You better have some serious hard evidence to back up the claim. 8)
  3. Watching the Cubs "hit", is like watching Charlie Brown runnings towards Lucy---who has the football---and at the last second, just as Charlie is trying to kick the ball, Lucy pulls the ball away, thus Charlie completely misses the football and lands on his back. Hyperthetically question: Who would win: The Cubs or the kids from South Park?
  4. The bottomline: I don't believe the Cubs are missing Lee's on-the-field production---per se---I believe they MISS the whole package that Lee brings. Lee is a quietly leader who brings it, everyday. He brings a quiet confidence to the team. I hate to say...the Cubs miss his "swagger", so to speak. But the club stinking worse then 2 day old dog turds, is a GROUP effort.
  5. Yeah, just what the Cubs need more "veteran leadership" on a sinking ship known as the Chitantic. What is the USE of a "veteran leadership" on a team that blows (in Bostonian accent) chowder?
  6. No that can't be right. I heard Sandy Koufax, Walter Johnson, Bob Feller, and Bob Gibson, were schedule to pitch right behind Cy Young. If any of them struggles against the Cubs  , Satchel Paige, Don Drysdale, and Fergie Jenkins ARE available to work in relief.
  7. Not necessarily. You still have to have the stamina to keep pitching, or risk developing bad habits. It's not a matter of "switching" arms, it's a matter if he has the stamina in the legs to keep pumping.
  8. Yes, because the .182 that Wilkerson would LOOK mighty impressive on the Cubs right now. Johnson/Wilkerson/prospect DOES NOT equate to being the same as Derrek Lee. Right now, the Cubs could prolly have Wilkerson for a couple of decent prospects.
  9. The Cubs DON'T NEED A SOLUTION at first. What they need is somebody who play the position well-enough say.....260/.330/.440 with some power, and provide solid D---not a guy who would replace Lee. Hoffpair or Sing COULD surprise people if given the opportunity. Giving them an opportunity is better then letting another organization try and rip you off. The key word is COULD and I'm glad you capitalized it! Are you willing to put a good portion of this season in the hands of one or two guys who COULD surprise people? I'd rather put my faith, at this point, in someone who's already proven he can get the job done! I'm not sure Hoffpauir, Sing, or even Brian Dopirak can get the job done. Well. considering the current landscape for the Cubs offense...Clark is not going to help the Cubs, anymore then Hoffpauir or Sing. Why give up a cheap pitcher for Clark?
  10. Being IMMATURE, and being a MENTAL MIDGET are NOT the same thing. People forget that Zambrano is still only 24 yrs old. And posters like synergy believe Zambrano should act older then his age. And now, I would not Zambrano, even for an impact bat. People forget the Cubs are more then one bat away from competing.
  11. I would say players who have bad seasons, in relation to expectations, can be blamed. But if guys play to expectations, it's the GM and managers fault when they fail. And if a good player has a bad month, I'll give him some slack. Also, when players routinely make outs swinging at garbage, I still blame them, somewhat, for not fixing that problem. If a player routinely grounds into DPs with the same pathetic slap it to 2nd swing, I blame him. But when I complain about sucky players for sucking, it's implied that I blame their presence on the roster or in the lineup or on the mound for the troubles. Most of my hostility is directed at management for poor planning. I just blame everyone. It's much easier that way. .....and you save alot of money on steno pads and pencils :P Even tho he wrote it as a joke, but Soul has the correct notion. Don't blame one or two players., blame the WHOLE FRIGGIN' TEAM. It took the majority of the team--excluding a few players who have played very well---to be this crappy, naturally this team should get the blame., not just one or two.

  13. Not me.....
  14. I prefer the better getting "Kobesized." Ie getting clothesline.
  15. So that was a baseball that hit Bonds, I thought a zit popped...
  16. I could see the switch-pitcher and the switch hitter, playing a baseball version of Texas 2 step.
  17. Personaly, I would the Cubs to draft a PLAYER who could potentially help THIS yr. Forget the option clock nonsense, if the Cubs can help, let him help.
  18. Any idea of what they are asking? If I'm the D-Backs, I start with Hill. The Cubs are in a bind, the whole league knows it. Since Arizona has no need to get rid of Clark, why not shoot for the moon? I mean, Hendry gave up three great prospects for a leadoff-hitting center fielder who OBP is almost completely dependent on his BA. After 28 years, I'm ready to call it quits with this stinking organization. I refuse to even call it a team. But the problem with that theory, is that Clark is NOT the only available first baseman, the Cubs would be interested in. I'm sure the Cubs are prolly weighing the worth of calling someone up like Hoffpauir (have to take somebody off the 40 perhaps Restovich or Bynum) or Sing, to that of acquiring a bat via FA or trade. I not enamored with the move, but Walker has more then handle himself at first, so there is NO NEED to overpay for Clark.
  19. Tony Clark is very inexpensive. Around $1M for 2006. He does have a NTC though. But what do we do with Clark when Lee comes back? Clark can only play 1b, and he's not going to get much time with Lee in front of him. Doesn't seem to be a fit for the Cubs IMO. The Cubs need a 1B, for the next 2 months. How's that not a fit? And when Lee is back, then Clark takes a seat on the bench next to guys making even more than him (Hairston, Mabry, Neifi, Blanco). I MEANT to say....that Clark would be a redundant player for ARIZONA, not Chicago. Of course, I think he is a fit for the Cubs.
  20. The problem is...everybody is PRESSING to do something to get it started. The problem lies with the fact that this Cubs team is depressed because they felt that Lee and/or Ramirez are the offense, and Lee is out for awhile. The problem with "STATS" is that while the numbers don't lie, they are OFTEN misinterpreted. This team needs a chakeup, regardless of what "fancy math" is applied. Juan isn't doing the job as leadoff....FACT. Aram isn't the doing the job as cleanup....FACT. Murton/Barrett/Walker/Cedeno are pretty much the Cubs offense....FACT. Not changing the lineup to relinquish some pressure...FICTION.
  21. http://sportspickle.com/ LOL
  22. Right now, the Cubs need more then another bat in the lineup. The Cubs need to change up their lineup in the worst of ways. Pierre NEEDS to be taking out of the leadoff role, cause right now...he ain't getting the job done at leadoff. I know the Cubs are keeping him there to justify giving up three young, and cheap pitchers, but it is so OBVIOUS he isn't working right now. Perhaps Walker/Pierre/Murton/ARam/Barrett/Cedeno/Jones/Hairston might be the trick---albeit a temporary solution---to get this offense going. The Cubs need their best OBP to start the game, and the need their best hitter to come up in the first inning (Murton). Either that or we the fans should get the Cubs this product: http://www.properformancestore.com/hw/hitaway_pole.asp Because this team needs ALL THE HELP it can get on the offense back on track. Because this yr's offense, makes last yrs, look like murderer's row.
  23. Maybe Marshall could throw just a LITTLE BP on off days, seeing as how THE CUBS DON'T HIT LEFTIES FOR SQUAT THIS YEAR. No......That is WHY the Cubs have Glendon Rusch.
  24. First: I like Len and Bob (Dave O'Brien would have been great also), but THEY WILL never replace the Carays/Stone. No matter what. With that said...the WGN could NOT have done a better job at replacing Caray/Stone for Kasper/Brenly. Len and Bob actually had made me forget about all of the GAWD-AWFUL announcers the wgn USED TO RUN OUT THERE, guys like Josh Lewin, Joe Carter (wonderful man, just bad to listen to a game to), Thom (the current D'backs broadcaster, I believe) something, I can't think of his last name. Second: It is the job of a broadcaster, to call it as he sees it, and not be a butt-kisser. And when Stone call out Merker, and Alou, and to a certain degree Wood, I absolutely will side with Stone. Those players DESERVED to be call out. Third: People call Stone arrogant/smug/self-absorbed, I just don't get it. I've met Stone a few times (about 4 to be exactly) and he came across as being INTELLIGENT, KNOWLEDGEABLE, APPROACHABLE, and flat out NICE. I JUST don't get how people call Stone arrogant, because to me...he isn't.
  25. We're Cubs fans, bad things happen regardless. :-k Bad things? How do we know that the Cubs only have bad things, it's not like the Cubs have good things to compare the bad things to. Yes, I'm trying to confused people.
