  1. Not concentrating is losing a few games in a row. But to lose 13 of 15, and is wildly considered playing worse baseball then KC/Pitt/Florida, your beyond lack of concentrating, this team don't give a darn thing.
  2. was thinkin that also, we really dont need him if he continues playing like corey patterson did when he was here Man, about to be swept iin a season series against the Padres? I wonder when the last time the Cubs was swept in a season series?
  3. http://www.suntimes.com/output/cubs/cst-spt-chris14.html Get used to it.... As soon as the Cubs have a decent good luck streak, of say, maybe 5 games....the Cubs will extend Baker for anoter 1 to 2 yrs. :evil. It is inevitable that Baker will be extended.  :x
  4. :? Oh, you mean Kerry Wood....
  5. moment, but when was the last time the Cubs were swept in a season series? At this point it is inevitable. (I genernally don't know)
  6. Or 2b when the Cubs trade Prior for Cano. :D I still don't see what's so bad about that deal. Prior has a name, but you're basically trading nothing for one of the better young players in the league. We may be able to get more for Prior, but getting Cano isn't laughable. And yet, I still wouldn't trade Prior for Cano. In Prior's peak...he will be one, if not the game's best pitcher---yes, I am still an optimis when it comes to Prior. Cano in his prime will likely be a very solid player for the Yankees. You DON'T trade a Prior for Cano. You just don't. The Yanks WOULD jump at that deal, in a heartbeat.
  7. I highly doubt that. They may if they didn't think their man would be available till the winter for some reason. Then they could blame the Cubs current record on Dusty, the Cubs record at the end of the season on Larry, and get the man they REALLY want this winter.... But if their guy is available now, then Larry as interim would make little sense. I still doubt it. I could see Dick Pole as the interim manager---if he isn't fired with Baker...if/when that happens---but not Rothschild.
  8. What is it with Baker and former Twins? Kept putting Hawkins into a save situation, even tho everybody and their mama's knew Hawkins was about as comfortable as closer, as I am in a speedo. (SORRY for the image, just trying to put a comparable scenerio) Same with Jones with left-handed pitchers. How many times does Dusty Baker have to be slapped upside the head, before he gets "it?"
  9. He may not have the legs any more to play the outfield well, but the man still has 8 GGs on the shelf -- hardly the worst ever in LF. Agreed. Alot of people forget that Bonds was a "great defensive" player in his prime. People focus on his offensive talents, but few people do know that Bonds is NOT the worst LFer---currently, but his career---in MLB history. I'd have to go with Hundley. He made routine plays, look absolutely hard. Jim Belushi could have played a better the LF then Hundley.
  10. The may have to "stand pat" for the time being, considering any "valuable" OFer isn't on the market, and the Yankees simply just can't throw money at EVERY team. I'm sure they will target guys like Hunter, C. Wilson, etc..etc...
  11. As long as Hendry doesn't take Kruk's "advice" then the Cubs should be alright.
  12. Trading for Conine is strictly a "contender trying to strengthen up the bench" type move. And the Cubs are closer to competing with the Pirates for last place, then they are for a playoff spot. Just say no to Conine.
  13. Depends on how cheap the Marlins are. The Yanks could throw Philip Hughes, Melky Cabrera, and a wad of cash at them for him. It would not be an even return, but hey, money talks. And if that happens, you might as well fold up the Marlins organization, cause that would signal the fact that the Marlins have no intentions of competing again.
  14. Well, Novoa AND Williamson has pitch well in today's game. Now if the Cubs offense, would get some runs and ACTUALLY lead late in the game, it's good to know that the Cubs bullpen might actually have some depth.
  15. Baker will finish the season because Hendry won't fire him. Why? Because then the heat will only be on Hendry and he knows that. Right now I think most fans despise Baker more and Hendry can be comfortable with that. Personally, I think, they both should go or they both should stay. To me, their both the same and it does no good to keep one. Ideally, they both should go. Baker WON'T finish the season. One way or another....either Baker will get fired, or he will resign. I believe he will be fired, if this team continues to play this bad. But it safe to say....everybody---maybe excluding Speier---on the coaching staff will not be back in 2007.
  16. Does Baker make it to the ASB? And should baseball ammend the "every team has to be represented at the ASGame" rule? Cause....outside of Dempster and Barrettt....there is not ONE player that deserves to go to the ASG.
  17. Maybe because---when healthy---Prior is better then Willis and Zito?
  18. Prior for Cano, eh? We "need that 2B", eh? And while we at...we can trade Carlos Zambrano for Adam Kennedy. Kerry Wood for Orlando Hudson. Maybe we could the Reds to trade Brandon Phillps(more likely Rich Aurilla) for Maddux. And if we are lucky we might even get the Rockies to trade us Luis Gonzalez (the INF, not the OFer) for Marshall AND Guzman. I mean, you can't have too many 2B on one roster. All of this would fall under the "Phillips dunderhead file." Geez, no wonder he hasn't found a GM job since the Mets canned his butt.
  19. Why do we want the WHITE version of Dusty Baker? I'd rather see if Valentin could be gotten. If not...I like Larry Bowa for the SHORT-TERM, and perhaps Chris Speier for the long-term.
  20. I strongly DISAGREE with your comments about Guzman. You do understand that he has only had 3 starts at the major league level? Yup...just 3. In all 3 starts, he showed excellent stuff, but a lack of command. Since he has been known for his command throughout his minor league career, most observers feel his command will return shortly...that it is shaky due to the fact he hasn't pitched many innings since recovering from surgery. Guzman's first 3 starts were roughly the same as Marshall's first three starts. What if Marshall had been written off after his first 3 starts? Don't believe me: Marshall Start 1: 4.1 IP, 4 Hits, 4 ER, 1 BB, 2 k's Start 2: 5 IP, 5 hits, 4 ER, 1 BB, 2 k's Start 3: 5 IP, 2 hits, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 k's TOTAL: 14.1 IP, 11 hits, 10 ER, 5 BB, 8 k's Guzman Start 1: 5 IP, 6 hits, 3 ER, 4 BB, 5 k's Start 2: 5.2 IP, 6 hits, 4 ER, 3 BB, 7 k's Start 3: 4.1 IP, 5 hits, 5 ER, 4 BB, 4 k's TOTAL: 15 IP, 15 hits, 12 ER, 11 BB, 16 k's So Guzman allowed 2 more ER, while going deeper into games. And at least 2 of those runs scored AFTER he left the game. He struck out twice the number of batters as Sean (good stuff!), totally more than a k an inning, but he also walked twice the number of batters (shaky control). Once Guz finds more consistant control (which will come with more innings pitched), he is going to be VERY good. good post What he said.... ---------- I like the fact that in 2007---barring injuries (I know the Cubs won't be looking for veteran starters in the offseason, or I hope they don't) the Cubs rotation could feature 4 homegrown, extremely talented pitchers. I mean Prior/Z/Guzman/Marshall :D would be a fantastic rotation. The question will be health....but I fully believe Prior is getting awfully close to returning to full strength. And no, I don't endorse bringing back Maddux...not that I like him, but Boras is going to ask for more then Maddux is worth at this stage, and I rather have the two picks.
  21. I know you are being sarcastic, but people need to stop being so over-the-top with certain moves. Conine would be solid addition to a club contending club---which I don't know if you would call the Cubs that.
  22. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/baseball/bal-sp.osnotes10may10,0,4920074.story?coll=bal-sports-baseball Y Y You can get the rest of the "insider" info at this website. ESPN is such a douchebag website.
  23. if giving up just 4 runs is "shaky" I'll take it Derwood, I think you misread? :? He says the Cubs would win 4-3---right now, I don't know if the Cubs would score 4 runs off Marshall, good thing they don't have to try  ---and that Marshall with 3 runs would be shaky. No that either giving up 4 runs or 3 runs would be shaky, esp...if he goes atleast 6 innings.
  24. They need more fire. FIRE! They have been week minded since 2004...Every year is the same thing over and over again. The Bears "Defense" has taken on the personality of both Rivera and Smith. That "personality" is a low-talking, hard-hitting do the job on the field attitude. The Bulls have taken the personality of that of Scott Skiles. That personality is that to play incredibly hard, and play to the UTMOST of your talent, if not exceed it. In other words...overachieve. The White Sox have taken the personality of that of Ozzie Guillen. Don't understand what they heck they are doing, but they play the game right and hard. (Can ANYBODY truly understand what Guillen says? :? ) No excuses. The Blackhawks.....well NM, they ain't professional. That means the Cubs have taken on the personality of Dusty Baker. That means...Dusty is incredibly inept of the foundamentals. Incredibly sensitve (ahem weak minded), excuse laden team that Don Baylor would be proud of. In other words....This engine is broke, and the Cubs need a completely need engine.
