  1. Unfortunately, I could see the White Sox offer McCarthy, Sweeney (or Aanderson) and say Josh Fields, and the Marlins be tempted. The Indians could offer Franklin Gutierrez, Ryan Garko, and another prospect or two. The Red Sox could "realisitically" offer Papelbon (or Lester), Pena, and Shoppach. So if the Marlins ever decide to trade Cabera, they'd get alot of interesting offers.
  2. WTH with all the people who have "classes", that is weak man.... Monday, I am OFF, and I am plan to have my book of "Unnecessary Insults" ready for the Cubs games.
  3. Prolly something along the lines of "d'uh......"
  4. I feel bad for Pavano, cause he has to be the butt of all jokes.
  5. Thak you very much....it is 5 till three where I am at, and now I am ready for a beer. Thanks alot. For the love of baseball gods, please KW get healthy, cause your throne is waiting.
  6. Maybe the Rangers getting Hank's little brother, might help him rediscover his talents.
  7. source: MLBtraderumors.com This had better be someone's idea of April Fool's. Did anybody NOTICE that they didn't quote a source...outside of itself? No heard it from a guy I know inside the Brewers or Cubs org, no quote from a newspaper writer for either city..nothing. 80% chances this is an April Fools' Joke. A couple of questions you had to asked yourself: 1: Why would the Brewers trade their 2nd most valuable veteran hitter on the cusp of contending for the NL Central? 2: With an already underachieving bloated payroll, why would the Cubs trade three valuable CHEAP young players who could help the Cubs more then Carlos Lee would? Neither question would be answer in this trade scenerio, so this deal doesn't make sense (I rather have Lee then Soriano), so I figure this deal is close to happening.
  8. I don't think that is a fair assessment of Bynum, to being compare to Macias. Everybody and their mama's knew Macias WAS NOT ML caliber, and where Macias RARELY produces anything of note, I suspect that Bynum produces more often (cause of his unique ability to ACTUALLY take a walk) then Macias. So, I don't think Bynum to Macias is a fair comparasion.
  9. . If Ronny is going to lose the job, it might as well be to Ryan Theriot. We ALREADY know Nefti isn't a starter, and we don't need to go into the season with a significant handicapped---outside of the manager---. To me...if Cedeno is going to lose the job, I prefer the Cubs to make a trade for a SS or go with Theriot. For the love of the baseball god, please start the season on fire Ronny, or you'll never see the Diamond again with the Cub.
  10. That is a "what if" scenerion. Because "what if" Marshall is more then holding his own in the alloted team? Personally, I think Williams is a step out the door, and Rusch is a step closer to the pen, with Marshall making the club out of ST. I definately could see Marshall sticking with the Cubs, longer then the "short stint" some people think he has.
  11. Dayton Moore as GM and Orel Hershiser as manager. I'd prefer Mark Shapiro as GM and Buck Showalter as manager (at least short-term) .
  12. Look as I said in the first post, I didn't know how credible it was, and apparently it is as truthful as a Democrat, but I thought it would make for an interesting topic. So...WHICH prospect would you trade Pie for, specifically? I know I heard Brandon Wood. I would go... 5: Butler, Billy 4: Upton, Justin 3: Diamond, Thomas 2: Wood, Brandon 1: Young, Delmon Those would be the ONLY prospects I would trade Pie for...so who would you trade Pie for?
  13. I picked this tidbit off on cubs.com---I know, I know, but---and I don't know how credibility is it, but....I think it should be interesting debate. Would anybody here at least consider a Felix Pie for Howie Kendrick trade?
  14. I'll save my excitement for the Glenallen Hill signing. I don't know the possibility to bring Dave Hansen back, just gives me......goosebumps. (shutters)
  15. Call me crazy....but the Cubs...IMO, have a similar player already in their system...Felix Pie. I know he gets alot of comparasion, and hypes, but I fully believe that Pie will be a Sizemore type player for the Cubs before 2007, is out...if not sooner.
  16. http://www.baseball-reference.com/m/marquja01.shtml You're telling me, reggiemiller, that you would RATHER keep Marquis, a VASTLY OVERRATED PITCHER, and go with a Taguchi/Bigbie/Rodriguez/Gall LF instead of trading Marquis and replace him with an Adam Wainwright type young pitcher, and get an upgrade with Church? Man, if the Cards had you as a GM, then I would be supremely confident the Cubs could overtake the Cards in the division.
  17. Maybe even David Aardsma, would do the trick. But IF the Cubs acquire Kielty, does that mean Pagan doesn't make the team, then?
  18. If there is one player who said ask for a trade, it should be Church. I could see Bowden trading Church to the Cards for Marquis, or some other Cards scrub.
  19. Don't they have "Fatboy Slim" Berkman, for the position, anyways? I prefer Berkman in the outfield, cause he is like Todd Hundley...they are fun to watch trying to be an "outfielder."
  20. If this team is out of the race by the trade deadline, he might not even be GM by that time. Hendry will be the GM---win or lose---through the season. Now NEXT offseason...that's another story. And I agree with another poster, even if the Cubs svck, I don't see the Cubs selling off their team and alienating their fan base. I could see moving both Pierre (Pie) and Lee (Sing or Dopirak), but I can't see moving ARam, Barrett, or Jones....simply because the Cubs don't have any ready made players at those positions in the minors that will be ready to help in less then 3 yrs, and because I highly doubt they would find upgrades over ARam and Barrett on the market in the offseason. And I don't see Walker as a deadline deal, cause he won't be with the Cubs by the deadline.
  21. I doubt it Vance, cause the Marlins already have Mike Jacobs penciled in at 1st, and another young kid in Jason Stokes in AAA, I believe. Now a team like Cincy, could use the kid. But man, I remember ESPN running a story on Carlos Pena being the best pure hitter in the "New England" area, I believe before the draft a few yrs back. Talk about being a bust.
  22. I don't know, giving Craig Wilson a chance to turn Jacque Jones into trade bait at the deadline would be pretty nice... After signing a 3 yr deal? I seriously DOUBT Jones will be traded in his first yr of the deal. Now maybe next offseason, perhaps....but not this season.
  23. I agree. The odds on the Cards and the Cubs working out a deal for a rule 5 guy that can't stick must be astronomical. I doubt Mateo would have been the player that prevents the Cubs and Cards from working out a deal. Chances are...the Cards did NOT like what they saw from Mateo and we all too glad to return him to the Cubs. Not according to the Cardinals per mlb.com. I doubt that. Mateo showed up late---I believe due to visa problems---and he showed up overweight, and got into LaRussa's doghouse from the begining. So I seriously doubt Mateo would had been a player the Cards would want to keep, not when they could get $25,000 back from the Cubs.
  24. I always thought Aardsma was able to hit 97-98? I could be wrong though. As with Cubswin, I also heard that Aardsma could hit that high on his FB, but his control would be not the average. Besides...I rather Aardsma hitting 92-95 and able to hit his spots, instead of throwing high 90s, and NOT knowing where the ball was going. If Aardsma stays inside his game, he could ACTUALLY help the Cubs later in the season.
  25. I believe the bottom line is that Bonds is "up the creek without a paddle." Baseball should not be celebrating Bonds chase for 715 and 755. To be honest...baseball needs to wipe out Bonds stat starting from 2001, the season in which he hit 73 HRs.
