Gameday took it back, Daryle Ward got a walk instead. Yeah I saw that. Gameday has gone crazy on me. And now Jake Fox replaces Daryle Ward defensively at first base in the bottom of the 7th. Gameday is on crack. ETA: And now Fox moves to C.
Trading an assest for a draft pick. Our GM has been pretty good with 2nd picks of late. Except that asset is worth a first round draft pick. I'd keep him if I can't get a first round pick, he'll eventually play rather than hold out.
Not me. I'd definitely need more. Maybe the 1st pick in the 2nd round, but definitely not some mid-2nd rounder. I'd have to get a 2008 pick thrown in. You have to consider the market, the Bears have to find a team that 1) Needs a WILL linebacker(or MLB, he could defineltly slide over) 2) Will pay 6+ million for one(Briggs expected contract demands) 3) Will pay this money for a LB with marginal pass rush skills 4) Will be willing to give up a high draft pick If Briggs was still under contract for few more years a trade would be easier. Or 5) Keep a player that's far more valuable than a 2nd round pick. I'd go with #5.

It's good to hear Guzman is doing well especially since Prior is doing so poorly. I heard Prior's velocity has fallen off. Is it improving? Pie will be in Iowa in my opinion. No rush when the outfield is already crowded. In the near future I see a regular outfield of Murton, Pie, with Soriano moved to RF. I hope Murton starts on a regular basis. I'd hate to see him in a platoon role. Thanks for the updates... Actually, Prior is just pitching in the minor league game, not going to the minor league camp. It's been thought that they're doing it so he can pitch with less attention and no TV cameras (and also so he might not be booed if he does poorly?). Hill is also pitching in minor league games just to get innings. Prior's first start was in the 83-86 range and his last appearance was in the 86-88 range. He's topped out at 89, didn't throw his curve in his first game and struggled with command of it (and his fastball) last time out.
Yeah, he's still a catcher. Last season, he was in Peoria and started off really well but had a major slump the final two months of the season (but he didn't display much power even when he was hitting well). He's supposed to have improved defensively a bit. Anyways, here are his 2006 stats. He'll be at Daytona next season.
i don't know if this is serious or not, but velocity is not the problem. the problem is that he can't get a breaking ball across the plate and he can't locate his 2-seamer. And I'm not worried about location/command after 3.1 ST innings.
It'd be something if MJ, Pippen, Rodman and Kukoc got together and popping open champaign to celebrate the Mavs losing. But hey, what's wrong with us fans doing it? You're just a jealous Pacers fan. ;)
*with the exception of championships. Yeah, but I'm the best in the regular season, when it really matters. i thought i had the most regular season points last year... I'm talking over the past three years. Consistency is key! sorry...i can't remember back that long. my memory only goes back as far as my two titles... My three straight appearances in the championship game are pretty clear in my memory. Hi Jim Kelly. Won the first one. Oh, my bad. Wasn't here then.
Well, I figured that even though that's a peak news time, there wouldn't likely be a game thread interrupted that way. Let's hope for no 40-inning spring training games.
I won't whine about it, but I'm disappointed. He needs to work on things (defense) that will be much better addressed amongst the minor leaguers. He wasn't going to make the team with DeRosa and Theriot around.
