    I like UCLA, but go Weber State tomorrow night! It wouldn't feel great though if it's because Collison was down, so I hope he's ready to go tomorrow. I echo that sentiment, as if my Hoosiers beat Gonzaga, I'd love to play Weber State instead of UCLA. The Collison injury is certainly one to track, if it's serious. The Bruins lost at West Virgiana without him, as everybody knows. That said, if recent history is any indication, they've survived one injury to a point guard (Tyus Edny). Regardless, UCLA should win its first two games. I really like Russell Westbrook's potential but he's no Cameron Dollar. It's a grade one sprain, Darren was seen walking to the plane at LAX with no noticeable problems. Hopefully UCLA can jump up to a big lead and rest Darren the rest of the way tomorrow. Not sure we can beat Indiana or Gonzaga without DC.

    I've seen AP pics of him with the big league team (before the Texas Rangers game, I think) so he's definitely in Arizona. Maybe he was with the big leaguers when you were at the minor league camp?

    1. Performance does matter. He's basically a ball of potential right now, like a ton of other guys in the minors. He just happens to have a high ametuer profile. 2. Good for him. Where has that taken the hundreds of other great athletes who have came and went? 3. The slider low and away appears to be one of many weaknesses. Theres also the complete lack of power, the high Ks, the ridiculously high and unsustainable BABIP are all pretty decent obstacles. I realize Maybin's potential, but right now thats all he really is. He's good at some parts of the game (defense specifically), but VERY raw in some huge parts of the game. Complete lack of power? It will come.

    No, it wouldn't. The Cubs can shuttle him between the big leagues and the minors all season if they wanted to.

    Teams definitely conduct try-outs. I went to an Orioles try-out my senior year of high school. I highly doubt they have a walk-on sort of thing. The Padres invited a Marine to camp who had just gotten back from Iraq. He's supposed to be a pitcher, but he's missing a finger or two on his throwing hand from when a flash-bang went off in his hand. I haven't heard much about how he's doing though... Not to lessen the story, because it is a nice one, but he lost a finger (I believe his pinky) on his non-throwing hand.     Yeah, the Cubs took him as a 19th rounder in 2004 (as a sophomore - he slipped because of his bonus demands) and he returned to college. Wasn't he at GT when we drafted him, but then he transferred to Tulane? Yup. That year, the Cubs drafted EPatt and Owings. Eric signed with the Cubs and Micah decided to transfer to Tulane.
