  1. Thanks for all the work you've done with NSBB, Ron! Who do you think will begin the season in the Diamond Jaxx' starting rotation? Carlos Marmol, Sean Marshall and Randy Wells seem like solid bets. I've seen rumors of Sean Gallagher and a couple of guys rebounding from injuries, Chadd Blasko and Rocky Cherry.
  2. Solid recruiting class though. Hopefully the program is on the rebound. Damn straight. Go Sam!
  3. The move had to be done, he wouldn't have lasted at SS or 3B in the bigs. I don't think he'll be ready for the big leagues this year outside of a September callup, he has some sizable things to fix.
  4. Yup. Sounds like he had 1 IP, 1 H, 1 K, 1 BB.
  5. Yes, Frankie had TJS. Justin only pitched in 77.2 IP last year (he missed the start of the season with elbow problems) but did finish strong. I've been a fan of his for a while, but he needs to put together a strong, healthy season. I don't see how one can consider the trade a bust given the Cubs netted Matt Murton.
  6. UCLA has an Indian kid on the team. True story. Brown pride!
  7. Grr, I forgot to Tivo the game. :x I saw the score on ESPN, if anyone has seen it, can you give a lil summary?
  8. Why? Vitale blew that WAY out of proportion. It's far too dangerous for the players, coaches, refs and the fans themselves. I've heard some scary stories from UCLA football players and a former Cal football player. They stormed on the court with 1.7 seconds left in the game.
  9. Dan Haren will start for the A's and go 30 pitches or 2 innings. Milton Bradley, Mark Kotsay and Jason Kendall won't play. Z is scheduled to throw 35-40 pitches.
  10. Actually it was in 4.2 innings and the reason his pitch count got so high is that Dusty was trying to let him get through 5 so he would qualify for the win. Whether Dusty should have been that concerned about having Z qualify for the win is arguable but it gives a little more perspective than just saying he pitched 5.2 as part of an opening day blow-out. I think when Dusty finally pulled him in the 5th the D-Backs had actually made it interesting and the Cubs then pulled away again later in the game. The score was 9-3 CUBS when Zambrano was pulled in the 5th inning. I believe there were a few guys on base though. And, of course, Zambrano told the ump he needed some glasses.
  11. Florida State fans should be embarassed. I hope this ends the ridiculous practice of storming onto the court/field.
  12. Unless you're Jon.
  13. Jimmy likes what he hears. http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2004/writers/john_donovan/10/25/game2.folo/p1_edmonds_rolen_all.jpg That was an obvious one, but kudos all the same.
  14. Thanks for the updates, Bruce! Good to read that Gooz, Marshall and Wells pitched well. :)
  15. Well, this is the same Newark Star-Ledger that said Mark Prior was going to have Tommy John surgery back in 2004.
  16. Yeah, that's definitely not a circle change. 2-seamer sounds about right (not that I ever pitched, but a bunch of us position players would often fool around with pitching grips back in HS).
  17. I read that as, "I don't pay attention to stats."
  18. Washington defeats Cal in Seattle, 73-62. Cal and Washington are now 1 game back of UCLA for first in the conference with 2 games left. UCLA goes to Berkeley to play Cal on Thursday; Washington goes to Tempe to play Arizona State. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v177/Navinda/Pac10.jpg
  19. I'm actually a bit concerned about the Cubs pushing Veal since he seems so raw.
  20. He tore his labrum and had shoulder surgery. That's big news if he's really going to be ready to start the season at AA. Holliman starting the year at Daytona isn't that surprising, Veal is.
  21. Again, UCLA gets off to a slow start but comes from behind at the half to blow out Oregon, 70-53. UCLA can survive the sluggish starts against the Oregon schools but not against the Bay Area schools next or in the tournament.
  22. I think if it's one of the bottom-feeders (such as Penn State or Minnesota) playing at one of the top teams (such as Illinois), it's a definite win for the top team. Apart from that I agree with you. A team could beat Illinois and lose to Penn State less than a week apart. Penn State went to Illinois and won earlier this year.
  23. It's senior day at UCLA! The starting lineup: SR 7-0 Ryan Hollins - Pasadena, CA SR 7-0 Michael Fey - Olympia, WA SR 6-6 Cedric Bozeman - Santa Ana, CA SR 6-2 Janou Rubin - Union City, CA SO 6-2 Jordan Farmar - Los Angeles (Van Nuys), CA It's Janou's first career start.
