  1. Maybe he'd get to play, ala Magic in 92. Different sport, but ya.
  2. I hate bad players. I love good ones. This is ok because my hatred applies only within the context of them as baseball players and I don't really pass judgment nor do I care about them as people (by and large, although there's probably a few players I build irrational attachments to).
  3. I'm not worried about it.
  4. Seems like a mature crowd over there. It's a fun group for those who have a sense of humor and aren't easily offended. while i do enjoy this board, i would really love there to be a no holds barred cubs forum... oh well...maybe i should start one! :stickman: Desipio is the closest you'll get to that, but I am just not a fan for some reason.
  5. Seems like a mature crowd over there. That forum is great.
  6. Did Soriano actually look semi-healthy there?
  7. hahahhahahahahha wow hilarious how he shows up right on cue
  8. On a totally unrelated note, did I deal you your first losing week in NSBB keeper, vance? :)
  9. Has anyone seen Sori run at all tonight?
  10. Seems their rightfileders have been killing us with great catches. It really feels like a lot of that has been happening to us all year against all teams. Giles immediately comes to mind.
  11. http://podloc.andohs.net/dloadTrack.mp3?prm=2031xhttp://query-origin.andohs.net/8000A6/content-root3.andomedia.com/origin/mp3/espnradio/dailydish/nbadish080522.mp3 Chad Ford interview with Paxson... He gave a run down of the things he looks for in a player and he really focused on wanting a difference maker and a leader..."a guy who can establish the pecking order on this roster" (or words to that effect)... Said this finally gives the team an opportunity to perhaps get that special type of player. Chad Ford basically followed that with, "It sounds like you're describing Derrick Rose." Paxson basically dismissed that a bit but didn't really deny it. Just said that he's describing the type of player he liked. He also blasted the report out of the Florida paper saying that we're set on Beasley. Says they aren't leaning either way as of yet, as there are no LeBrons in this draft.
  12. I don't think there's any irrational love for Rose because he's from the Chicago area, that didn't turn out so well last time (see: Eddy Curry). If there's any irrational love for Rose, it is because he's a PG, and any self respecting Bulls fan should have an affinity for a star PG that can run the show (see: Michael Jordan). Jordan wasn't a PG, but I'm with you on the general point.
  13. That would be a ridiculous deal for the Bulls. That's about what Hinrich is worth, but getting him outta him would be much more valuable. How is it ridiculous if that's about what he's worth? If you're going to dump him for Rose anyway, I find an extra mid-first round pick to be entirely palatable. I'm pretty sure he meant ridiculous in a good way.
  14. end of the season is gonna be rouuuuuuuuuugh, with a ton of NL central battles. It'd be nice if we could have a comfortable lead before we get there, not gonna happen apparently yea... i'm not sure that's really determined yet but ok.
  15. The Score is reporting that the Bulls are gauging interest in Hinrich throughout the league. Also that Portland has supposedly come to them and offered up their pick (13th) for him...
  16. Wishful thinking. Not a chance in hell it happens. We've done it before. Didn't turn out so hot. Don't remind me.
  17. I haven't heard much good about his intelligence, basketball or otherwise. But I admit, I've only been reading scouting reports and articles on the guys. I'm not a huge college basketball guy.
  18. lol Barry Rozner is dumb at to basketball too... http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=195315
  19. Wishful thinking. Not a chance in hell it happens.
  20. FWIW, I don't really buy that report I posted from the south Florida paper. I highly doubt that Paxson had given this much thought before the #1 pick fell in his lap. The idea that he'd formulate such a "plan" after one day is pretty absurd to me. He's going to do a fair amount of homework (including seeing what he can get in terms of consolidating either forwards or guards in a trade(s)) and will watch both guys in workouts and everything. We'll see. I'm really hoping he decides on Rose, though.
  21. Are you seriously arguing that Parker, Ginobili, and Cassell were more important to championships than Duncan and The Dream? That's a joke. That's like saying Jordan didn't win til he got Bill Cartwright. Also, what has Kobe won without Shaq? What do you forsee Wade winning without Shaq? Shaq got to the finals with Penny Hardaway, Nick Anderson, and Dennis Scott...all guys that were on their way out of the league soon as Shaq left Orlando. That example's not gonna last very long... At least you'll get some use out of it before it's obsolete. And Penny was a stud, Shaq or no Shaq. Injuries derailed his career.
  22. Nice avatar. Beat me to it. lulz
  23. It still amazes me how people get so upset over losses. It doesn't matter how they lose. It's 162 games. They're going to lose 60+ games and in some of them they are going to look absolutely terrible. It's not so much a reaction to anything in this thread but just a general thing. You start hearing people call in on the radio wondering what is wrong with the Cubs. Other people with knee-jerk reactions about how terrible certain players are or how they need to fix something. Based on one or two games. The worst is when they call in saying the team needs to bunt more to score runs more consistently, because the HRs aren't always going to be there. It's like these people think/expect you can win every game. /rant
  24. They changed that when the Devil Rays tried to pay Boggs to go in with a Tampa Bay cap.
