  1. BTW, I have you all beat. The Cubs are... wait for it.... 1-6 in games I am in attendance this year.
  2. LOL Gail Fischer, while reading the graphic saying that the Cubs lead the league in BA, walks, OBP, and OPS, paused right before OPS (like she had no idea what it was) and proceeded to pronounce it "ahhps."
  3. Along with the wind, of course... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-080530-jim-edmonds-chicago-cubs,1,5924835.story This almost sounds too convenient. He went away from his successful approach right before having his worst year, and he waits till now to go back to his old stance? Personally, I didn't notice any difference in his stance, but maybe some of you guys did. I mean, it would be nice if he could rediscover SOMETHING.
  4. It was probably a formality at this point, considering how the teams are doing, but the ESPN has, in fact, picked up this previously TBD game. I'll admit it, I love when the Cubs are on Sunday Night, despite the fact that Joe Morgan sucks.
  5. HAHAHHAHAHA THEY WON? WOW WTF I turned it off at work when it was 3-0.... Kept keeping track, saw the 3 run fake rally online. Drove home only to find out they won. Holy crap!
  6. Am I the only one who finds losses a lot less bothersome these days? Having confidence in the team in the long run is nice. I wasn't even all that upset after Sunday's game, where I would've been seething even a year ago.
  7. So I went to MLB.com to check the score of the game and saw the headline, "Rockies start off strong against Major's best." I didn't really think anything of it and looked over to see that the only game going on was Cubs/Rox (It didn't really register that the Cubs were playing the Rockies when I read the headline)... Ya it was kind of weird to see the Cubs referred to in that way.
  8. I can't even begin to understand where some people's perceptions that Jerry Reinsdorf is cheap comes from.
  9. He also told Jordan, to his face, how much he regretted that decision. To this day I'm almost positive that comment has been overblown. He probably kiddingly said, "I'm really going to regret this," or something like that, like when a dad gives his kid a credit card or the keys to a car. Jerry is a pretty sarcastic person. I highly doubt he was seriously trying to convey regret. "Oh, I don't want to do it but here take $30M anyway."
  10. I don't know. 85 sounds terrible, but 2004 was pretty damn horrendous. I had some serious visions of taking down the Cardinals in the NLCS.
  11. Oh, and... best record in baseball Yea, I said it. wannafightaboutit?
  12. how the hell do you bring soriano into this thread? and who the hell are these "professional message board posters"? People who know how to use the quote button and the enter key?
  13. Sweet, thanks for that.
  14. They play the Pirates though. What? You do know we play the Rockies the next four games right? I think he meant the Cards play the Pirates while we play the Rockies, so they should be able to keep up with us. no that doesn't make any sense wat?
  15. Report coming from a Phoenix radio station (Mark Asher?) is that Doug Collins is close to being named Bulls head coach. Apparently, a few angry Bulls fans called in and he stuck with the story. He hasn't mentioned it since his show's open, though. Asher supposedly has a reputation for being pretty reliable. http://realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=793910&start=108&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=
  16. Florida paper continues to insist that Bulls will draft Beasley and Miami will get Rose. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/basketball/heat/sfl-roseheat0808,0,5566327.story
  17. But has absolutely no chance to be, unfortunately. By my calculation, Aramis is probably the fourth best third baseman in baseball right now. Only A-Rod, Wright, and Chipper could be picked ahead of him. Am I wrong? If you take age into account, I wouldn't even put Chipper ahead of him.
  18. Yea, given the small sample size, I think, despite his suckitude at the plate, he has managed to have an overall positive impact with a couple of huge (high leverage) catches he has made defensively. Obviously, that wouldn't hold up long term, but a couple of catches have been huge in the 7 or 8 games he has played.
  19. Oh, he'll be doing plenty of that, amirite? lulz!
  20. Until you get payed for it then it's your job. Isn't that a good attitude to have about any job? Not taking your work home with you, seperating business and personal life, etc? Most people would praise any other professional who took that sort of attitude toward their life. Precisely. It's so unbelievably stupid how people bash players when they say things like this. I'm not going to say otherwise because I don't like said player.
  21. Actually, if I'm not mistaken, I think their backup catcher threw him out.
  22. FYI, NL All Star vote tallies should be announced today
