  1. That's about as reassuring as I could've hoped.
  2. This. BA/SLG/OBP/OPS with runners on base: .296 .354 .478 .831 The same with bases empty: .233 .298 .381 .679 When those two lines begin to converge, and they will, their run-scoring will slow down. Just curious as to how those same splits look for us... I'd look them up myself but I'm too damn lazy.
  3. WSCR just played some comments from Lou making it seem like Gallagher's starting stint might not be too long. Basically, what he said was that the strength of the bullpen is right handed and he feels like it somehow negates that strength to have four righty starters. (Odd, didn't we hear that part of the problem with keeping Marshall around last year was that there were 3 lefties? I guess 2 is just the right amount. ) Essentially, it seems like he's hoping to get Rich back soon, which is obviously a positive. Let's hope Sean is so good today that he just winds up taking Marquis's spot when Hill comes back up.
  4. You won't be seeing much of him this weekend. I'm pretty sure we're facing lefties all three games.
  5. Just for the sake of discussion, short-term, which one (Pie vs. Edmonds) was more likely, this year? Personally, I'm really not sure. The fact that Edmonds has a proven track record doesn't necessarily mean all that much given what he is today, but by the same token, I have a hard time seeing Pie doing it because I have yet to see him do it. This shouldn't be seen as a reflection of my feelings on the Pie situation at all. I'm definitely for Pie getting 100% of the PAs against righties. I'm just bringing it up for the sake of discussion as far as which might be the better option taking this year only into account.
  6. Awesome, have fun!
  7. So, is it possible that Edmonds can manage to put up a ~.800 OPS hitting almost exclusively against righties and playing at Wrigley for half his games (say the wind blows out a bit and he gets a few extra HR like he would've yesterday had the wind not been blowing in)? I know it's unlikely, but it doesn't seem totally out of the question. If he manages to do that, how happy would people be with having added that kind of production to the lineup for the short term, possibly (but not necessarily, for numerous reasons that have been discussed already) at the expense of Lix's development? I have to say, if he can manage to be moderately successful like that, it would be a big boost to a lineup that has been one of the best in baseball with what basically has amounted to a black hole in CF.
  8. I come close to peeing my pants everytime I see that play where he dove to cutoff a throw in the oufield.
  9. Eh, I was basing it on my magnet schedule (which I may or may not have read correctly, I don't have it by me). I'll fix it.
  10. Darin Erstad just hit a 3 run HR in the 8th to tie the Astros and Giants at 7.
  11. I only said it because he got personal/insulting about it. *shrug*
  12. God, stop using that word. It makes you sound so bitter/pathetic. Personally, I think the guys hating on a Cubs player so hard are the ones that sound bitter/pathetic.
  13. Thomas Stephen Gorzelanny http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/7678.jpg 69 ERA+ 1.760 WHIP vs. Sean Patrick Gallagher http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/8046.jpg 69 ERA+ 1.680 WHIP Don't have much to say. Go Sean! Nail down a rotation spot.
  14. Yea. He's going to be garbage vs. lefties, no doubt. Let's just hope he can do something vs. the righties.
  15. A few Cubs teams of note... 2003 Cubs were 24-17 after 41 games 2004 Cubs were 23-18 2001 Cubs were 21-20 (the last game of their 8 game losing streak which they followed up with an 8 game win streak)
  16. According to what a couple of posters said, yes. Tying run is on the on-deck circle.
  17. Let's hope Wood's work last night will make him a little sharper today.
  18. Cards coming back to to earth Eh, if Izzy weren't so crappy, they'd be on their way to another win. He's cost them quite a few.
  19. What has to happen to make this a save situation? Just curious. I can't remember if it's just enough baserunners to make it a 3 run game (save situation) or if the tying run actually has to be at the plate...
  20. I'm not all that worried about 31 year olds. The PC thing is a lot bigger with younger pitchers. That said, I could go either way on letting Dempster stay in.
  21. It's what happens when you lead the league in OBP. Get used to it.
  22. As long as its not Lou doing the booing, he'll stay int he lineup I really get the impression from his PC yesterday that Lou isn't all that excited about this signing.
  23. Ya, Edmonds vs. a lefty. This won't end well.
