  1. I think it's quiet about Jacque because they suck. Nobody cares what Jacque is doing.
  2. So Bob, it rained as hard as humanly possible, uh?
  3. Perhaps but Juan almost lost it out of the glove and had that happened, it likely would have been over the wall for a Canseco-esque bounce of HR fortune. True.
  4. Len, just say it already. That ball was not gone. A 2 run double off the top of the wall, maybe.
  5. Man, I, unlike many others here, it seems, really liked that 04 team. They would've won well over 90 games if not for that terrible late collapse. All season was fun to watch and they played well most of the year. I was so looking forward to a potential Cubs/Cards NLCS. Plus, there was the Nomar trade. Who wasn't unbelievably excited that day? Man, what a fun season. BTW, to whoever said otherwise (I think it was GilesBros), Aramis had his best season as a Cub in 2004.
  6. Eh? :? What's the "Eh?" about? :?: They play in an abortion? Yup. a·bor·tion 5. Something malformed or incompletely developed; a monstrosity.
  7. Eh? :? What's the "Eh?" about? :?:
  8. The terrible management of this team stems from Andy MacPhail on down to Hendry and Baker. It has nothing to do with the Tribune. The Trib spends more than enough to field a winner. The fact that we are this terrible with the payroll we have (admittedly, with injuries to key players) is just a disgrace.
  9. Yea.. I'm pretty close to apathy, too, at this point. Not because I really don't care, but because I know that we can't expect much. No reason for hope. Who would've thought, back in late 2003/early 2004, that the Bulls would be looking more set for a bright future than the Cubs?
  10. Homer: Not a bear in sight. The "Bear Patrol" is working like a charm! Lisa: That's specious reasoning, Dad. Homer: Thanks, honey. Lisa: By your logic, I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away. Homer: Hmm. How does it work? Lisa: It doesn't work; it's just a stupid rock! Homer: Uh-huh. Lisa: But I don't see any tigers around, do you? Homer: Lisa, I want to buy your rock.
  11. The Cubs would never see the fact that he hits lefties well. They'd simply see that he's a lefty himself and move on.
  12. Not the way Dusty did. At least, any intelligent manager wouldn't.
  13. That's certainly possible, and he could very well have flamed out because of it. In the Cubs defense, I can't think of any top end pitchers that were abused in one year and had it cost them their career in the last ten years, and nearly all top pitchers are abused at some point if not all the time. I would have thought that month off would have given him time to recover. Name me one 21, 22, 23 year old pitcher that was abused like Prior and didn't suffer any consequences. Mark Buerhle Buerhle, at 23 in 2002, had one game over more than 120 pitches. It was the last game of the year. He had none over 130. He had 10 games under 100, and was almost always around 103-106. In 2003, at 22/23, Prior had 3 games under 100 pitches (1 of which was coming back from the shoulder injury caused by the collision with Giles). He had 10 games over 120 pitches, 4 of which were over 130. Buerhle doesn't even come close to Prior in the abused pitcher discussion. Thats called cherry-picking, look at his innings pitched. Are you kidding me? In terms of abuse, pitch counts mean a lot more than innings pitched.
  14. That was great. How about a bring Earl Weaver out of retirement BandWGN?
  15. The turn this thread has taken is pure hilarity. CubbieRich's Wood bashing is approaching the ridiculous/legendary levels of ZZ Thorn's Dusty backing...
  16. This is absolutely ridiculous. Even including his sub-par 2005, his career ERA is 3.67, and his career ERA+ is 116. He's had ERA+ seasons of 128, 126, 133, and 122, with 166.7, 174.3, 211.0, and 140.3 innings pitched, respectively. He's got a career K/9 of 10.436, which is second all-time, behind only Randy Johnson. When Wood is healthy, he is a sickeningly dominant pitcher. Exactly. I honestly can't BELIEVE that people are still genuinely using that tired (and astonishlingly weak) 15-win argument.
  17. I should know this, but who are you a fan of? Carolina.
  18. Wow.. Lawrence Maroney has got a face made for radio.
  19. traits WTF [expletive] Apparently, because it's really close to [expletive].
  20. Apparently, Chris Harris was on the Score and said that the Bears will be going receiver with their first pick.
  21. Huh? The analogy needs no explanation. Sure it does. I don't see any point in making a comparison like that. He's incompetent, he sucks at his job, he lets everyone around him down, and he should be fired. I don't see it needing an explanation. Really unnecessary.
  22. If Wood is coming back after his rehab start, how many more starts would that mean Rusch gets, assuming he takes his place?
