  1. Wait We are gonna get both the Wallaces? This is gonna get interseting fast. EDIT: I just realized I pluralized something with an apostrophe, I feel so stupid. Haha, not Rasheed (although that WOULD be sick). The rumor was that Brown would go to Detroit in a sign and trade for Ben. This could still be the case, I think, because official details have yet to be released on Big Ben, and no contract can be signed until the 12th anyway.
  2. Rumor has it that a trade of Tyson Chandler to New Orleans for PJ Brown (expiring contract) and JR Smith will soon follow the signing. Could also ultimately wind up a sign and trade, with Brown going to Detroit for Wallace.
  3. The Bulls have signed Ben Wallace per Chad Ford of ESPN.com http://www.espn.com
  4. The blog states that ARod would probably be moved to SS, Ronny to 2B, and we'd stick a stopgap at 3B until the offseason. Walker would probably be traded (ugh). Who is available at 3B following this season? Is there anyone out there for the OF? Carlos Lee doesn't exactly do it for me (especially not at what he's going to get).
  5. Was it as lame as my favorite, Nirvana, Half the Man I Used to Be in any reference to John Wayne Bobbit? STP
  6. Isn't it supposed to be pernounced "An-hal" or something? The 'g' being silent. It may be pronounced differently, but it still means the same thing in Spanish. "Angel" means "Angel."
  7. Can someone do something about this guy's avatar???
  8. Smacks of intelligence to me. Seconded. Heads-up move!
  9. It's just a new way for bitter old CubbieRich to get some more shots in against the guy that stole the girl from him and ran over his dog (Woody). Exactly.
  10. Most everybody would agree with you that it's not a good lineup but the word in bold is the key. It's a probable lineup and it's more than probable that Dusty is going to put Pierre in the leadoff spot. I don't think he's trying to say that these lineups are improbable or that there isn't sound reasoning behind placing Pierre in the leadoff spot of these likely lineups. He's just saying that Pierre sucks. I second this. I agree with the fact that Pierre sucks. But again, it's a probable lineup, i.e. something likely to happen, not a 'what I would do if I was the manager' lineup. We all know that Dusty is going to put Pierre as the leadoff hitter so making a probable lineup without Pierre leading off isn't probable. See bolded part.

  12. They play baseball in the AL?
  13. I grew up in Chicago, and I still think it's stupid. It's ridiculous. The Cardinals ARE a rival. They're a division team. That makes sense. Even the Mets, same league (plus the '69 history) makes sense. The Sox "rivalry?" Sorry, not so much. It's dumb. Makes as much sense to me as making rivals of the Royals or pre-97 or 98 Brewers (whenever they made the league switch). They're just an AL team. Who cares about the AL anyway?
  14. Pulling our overused ace pitchers in blowout games doesn't really amount to conservative, in my book. Just smart.
  15. Am I honestly the only one who doesn't care at all about the success of the Sox? I mean, I don't even notice them. And they're not even in the same league as we are. Up until 1997, we didn't even play them. I understand liking one team over the other, but the idea of treating the other as a "rival" and hating them has always really puzzled me.
  16. We'll also get all those bad attitudes out... ...and add team speed!
  17. Can the rhetoric. As long as Walker is in this blue funk of his, he's not the best player. 05/31 - 06/17 AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS Walker 56 5 10 1 0 0 11 3 5 3 0.179 0.246 0.196 0.442 You betting that today is the day that Walker will snap out of it ?? I'll take some of that action. Can the rhetoric? WTF? We'll never know now will we? Walker IS the best player of the 3. Today and any other day! :x Exactly. This is just absurd. Doesn't matter if Walker is 0 for the last two weeks, he's still the best hitter of all our 2B (and by a pretty wide margin).
  18. So you're a big Wham fan eh? And a big thanks to Fred from me too! I always enjoy popping on the game thread and seeing Freds up to the second updates along with the neato stats. I have a feeling he was going for Green Day there, not Wham.
  19. Beane/Dierker/Mazzone
  20. I didn't criticize Henry. I said the combination of the 3 was a failure. This is what I'm talking about, it's a contradiction. I think he's referring to Dusty as "a guy who needs 18 2B and refuses to take any responsibility." In other words, giving Hendry a pass because it's hard to work with Dusty. That's the only way I was remotely able to make any sense of it. I definitely don't agree with it, though.
  21. I'm wondering the exact same thing.
  22. That guy in your avatar can't pitch soon enough.
  23. Tommorow we're gonna suck some more, like we always do, as the interleague portion of the schedule starts up again. This guy (6-3 3.50) http://www.theoaklandpress.com/images/photos5.10/7762_512.jpg will face this bum (2-6 7.29) http://images.tsn.ca/images/stories/20050906/rusch_83190.jpg
  24. Podsednik's is particularly alarming, because this guy is actually taking walks and stealing bases. Instead of what we got in centerfield, with a similar average, and waaaaay worse OBP. podsednik has lost his fear of the strikeout, apparently and is walking at an unprecedented clip, i wish our leadoff hitter weren't afraid to strikeout. Isn't it unusual for a player this late in his career to develop a completely differnet approach to the plate? I wish we had the White Sox hitting coaches... :( It's unusual, but it happens. 1998 Sosa, for instance.
